Grocery shopping

[ They’re both definitely shopping in about the same manner, but Carl is using a more experienced method of getting whatever will last longer once they’re drifting. There are definitely some more nostalgic choices in his shopping basket, including some sort of off-brand cereal with a brightly colored mascot and frozen...what he assumes are pizza rolls. God, he hopes they’re pizza rolls..

He is wandering down an aisle, looking over a box of crackers he thinks Maggie might like when he bumps into somebody and he looks up, startled. ]

[ If Escha ever discovers what a pizza roll is, she is going to be incredibly impressed. Fair warning.

She's a bit startled as well, but not enough to jump - though she does turn her attention to him, and pretty much says at the exact same time: ]

Ah! Sorry!

[ A pause, then she laughs a bit. ]

No problem! Nobody's hurt and nothing got dropped. [ Aaand that's when she notices his basket, and the really bright cereal box. ] Oh! What's that? It looks so colorful!

[ Pizza rolls have every right to be awed at. They're a molten lump of wonderful. ]

Huh? Oh, it's cereal. It's like, uh.. fruity, crunchy bits of grain? You eat it with milk. I used to have this kind when I was a kid. [ Okay, like two years ago. But still! ]

That's cereal? Wow! I've never seen cereal like that! Back home, it's just puffed rice with milk on top of it. It's pretty boring...

[ She looks up at the shelf closest to her, picks up another colorful-looking box with a bespectacled owl on it. It's just cheesy crackers with peanut butter, but it's still foreign to her. ]

Really? There's about a hundred different kinds. It's mostly sugary, which is why there's so many choices.

[ He glances at the box. It's about as appealing as anything else looks, but he's not very picky anymore. ]

This whole place is really strange. It gives you the chance to try new things, at least?

[ Girl's got a sweet tooth a mile friggin' wide... ]

That's true! And um, if I can be honest? I bet any of this stuff is probably better than the gels on the ships...

Yeah, the gel protein is pretty bad, but it's still not the worst. It works when it has to.

[ Just don't ever get yourself into a situation where your only options are 'starve' and 'canned dog food'.. ]

So, if you like sweet stuff, try the one with the marshmallow bits in it.

True... I feel like I've had worse things than the gels... [ Would any of Linca's horrible cooking failures be considered worse than even canned dog food? Probably. ] But at least we have options! Right?
