No, it isn't. Were it not a realm I was familiar with, I'd worry I was beginning to disappear.

A problem where I'm from.

So you work on a system of belief?

That's right. The gods felt that they had too much power that was unchecked, so they handed it over, in a sense, to humanity. So their belief in us gives us our power, and what stories they believe dictate what rules we have to follow.

[she frowns a little] But that was when we would still show ourselves openly.

That seems like a terrible idea. On many, many levels.

It wasn't at first. But the gods didn't think humans would move on so quickly.

[ Loki snorts. ]

A bit. I've never asked, but from what I hear they regret it. It's caused other problems, too.

There are a lot of rules, but there are also a lot of loopholes. And every so often someone slips up or purposes causes an event that gives us a boost of power. It isn't ideal, but there are workarounds.

It all sounds rather complicated.

Is it ever not? Gods never do things simply.

[ Loki chuckles. ]

Heh. [she lets silence sit between them for a moment or two as she busies herself folding up the clothes she'll be taking]
