She smiles a little.] Just Katara is fine. And it's Sandalio?

[Too many people from too many different worlds who say their names in different orders... it can be very confusing, better to check.]

Yes. My name is Sandalio.

[He'll never get over how...informal everyone is. It's unsettling every time.]

The other part is my family name, Miss Katara.

[Yeah he's keeping the miss for now.]

She crosses her arms and gives him a little smile. It's not quite a smirk, but it might have an edge of 'bring it' to it.]

Do you have a preference about what you'd like to be called?

Preference? Honestly that tends to depends on how close I am to someone.

[He's not trying to be difficult about this but it's just...true.]

Some know me as Lord Falmouth while others know me as Mr. Rabiffano. My friends tend to use my given name or my pet name.

[Oh, he's a lord. You can almost hear the penny drop. Honestly, people with roles like that could be so... rigid about things. In places like this, Katara felt it was so entirely unnecessary, but she wasn't on a mission to eradicate the pride that people had in themselves and their positions and point that out. She had a mission of more personal purpose.]

...I could try to remember to call you Lord Falmouth [...wow, that's a horrible name. She hopes Sokka hasn't met him, the 'foul mouth' jokes this guy would have had to put up with...] I'm not very good with titles, though.

[He laughs and smiles warmly at her then shakes his head.]

There is no need. My title is actually one I acquired only recently but it doesn't apply here. You don't need to worry about using it.

...so I don't have to call you "lord", but you have to call me "miss?"

[SHE CRIES SHENANIGANS.]

I apologize but I am not certain I see your point. The matter is not the same. After all, I am called Mr. Rabiffano at my shop rather than Lord Falmouth.

I think my point is that politeness stops being polite if it makes the other person uncomfortable. But I think that got away from me somewhere. [ She shrugs. ] It's a difficult thing sometimes, different worlds and different cultures. I'm uncomfortable with titles, and you're uncomfortable without them.

I will ask for your forgiveness in this. It is deemed highly inappropriate to be so informal before we have been given the opportunity to become friends. However, I would offer this compromise. [He smiles at her.] If you will give me the time to get to know you better and befriend you then I will give my word that I will no longer give you a title once our friendship has solidified.
