.01 [ action | video ] have we lost our way back home
Who: Katara and you!
Broadcast: Video, from the Marsiva
Action: Action on the Marsiva and then then post!Shuffle on the Vanquish
When: Friday, 3/23
[Katara wasn’t always a heavy sleeper, but she never did enjoy waking up. It was a slow process, even here, as if her subconscious had already registered the wrongness of where she was and was well on its way to the land of Denial.
Eventually, though - her eyes opened. And she stayed very, very still as fear replaced sleep in an adrenaline spike sharp enough to make her stomach heavy. Okay. Okay. She still had her bending, in fact, that was at full force for the first time since the last draft, she can feel water in a distant room. But these lights… those walls… that… well, actually, she kind of likes the music, but she can’t -- this is definitely not…
And then she feels it - or she doesn’t feel it - and she forgets her caution and bolts upright, straining her head to take a closer look at her back.]
[She doesn’t expect a response, but she does get up out of the bed and glance around. Her balance is off when she moves, so she takes careful, deliberate steps, as she takes stock of what she has and doesn’t have and exactly where everything is in the room and pauses as the fact that there is music seeps in. What... what is going on here?
But that’s nothing when she spots the viewing bay. She pauses, transfixed for a moment, and then walks very carefully over to the window. She places one hand against it and whispers:] ...there are stars.
[As she spends more time on the Marsiva, she’ll explore the food and take advantage of the exercise equipment, doing what she can to try to get her balance to where it should be without the added (useless; she tells herself she’s glad they’re gone) appendages.]
[ Video Broadcast while on the Marsiva ]
[Serious blue eyes peer out in stark contrast to dark skin as a girl of about eighteen addresses the fleet.]
Hello, my name is Katara. I'm from the Southern Water Tribe, but I've spent the past four years [Had it really been that long? Her expression flickers for a moment.] in a place called Luceti. I understand a... lot of basic information about this place from the augment, but I'm sure there's more to this place than just what is implanted in our heads by our captors.
[Frowning, angry at that, needing to take a visible breath before she can continue.] I'd appreciate any additional information you feel it's safe to give out over these things. And... [Her gaze drops for a moment before she regains her composure and looks back at the camera.] ...if anyone knows the name Luceti, or has heard of the Southern Water Tribe, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know about that too.
[She manages a brief smile.] Thank you so much.
[Action on the Vanquish]
[Katara had been working on her balance on a make-shift balance-beam in the gym section of the Marsiva when she was suddenly teleported -- fortunately close enough to grab a wall. She bats at the confetti with a frown with her other hand as she straightens -- so this is the ‘shuffle’, huh?
The happy little jingle just makes her frown deepen. Jerks, playing with people like this… She gives a deeply exasperated sigh.
Hopefully no one is there to catch frustrated!Katara as their first impression; she will try to make a better second one by exploring the ship, sticking close to the walls, and looking to see who her new shipmates are with a pleasant smile on her face in a few minutes. Feel free to catch her walking around with a smile in a moment or two, but right now, she is having a few mental words with the Atroma and they are Not Nice.]

Vanquish
What can be seen from the open door is a huge pile of neatly folded blankets, dreamcatchers woven from baby blue wool and shells decorating the walls, and a pitch black cat sitting on the floor and yowling up at someone unseen.
Someone that can be heard though:]
Wait your turn. You ruined the last one! I'll make a wool monster, just for you.

And, at this sound of actual life on the ship, Katara (probably with some confetti still stuck in her hair, let's be honest) does the sensible thing and knocks on the door frame.]
Um, hello? [Moving to try and peer through the half-open door without actually opening it; Katara doesn't want to be rude after all.]

A part of him feels guilty she's trapped here (did she say she was in another place before this? for four years?) but it's overshadowed by the sheer overwhelming happiness of seeing the most important person in his existence once again.
God, he's missed her. ]
Katara! It's really you!
[He doesn't even think about his age, it's left by the wayside. And, of course, because this is Sokka, he gives a wry smile- though the real ecstatic one is barely concealed beneath it.]
I might know a thing or two about the Southern Water Tribe. Titbits, you know?
Video 1/3 and I'm sorry
He didn't look all that different from how she remembered him. The beard was different, but he looked about the right age, and maybe, maybe--
But it didn't matter, that didn't matter, because it was Sokka, and wherever he was was home.]

Video 3/3
Well, I'd certainly hope so. I'd hate to think you'd forgotten.
[And she means that in so many ways, but who even cares, because it's obvious that he hasn't, it's so obvious it's Sokka.]

action: Marsiva
As soon as Beat wakes up, he's running. Normally, he'd be skateboarding, but since some jerk has taken his skateboard, running is his only option. From room to room, from door to door, Beat is running and yelling as he slams a fist or a shoulder or even his feet into every surface he thinks might let him out. His augment explains what's going on to him, but he's never been great at understanding explanations even at the best of times.
These are certainly not the best of times.]
LET. ME. OUTTA HERE!!!!
[Like a blur, Beat speeds past Katara and slams into the nearest wall with a grunt.]
GAH!
action: Marsiva 1/2
...he just ran into a wall.]
action: Marsiva 2/2, also that tag was amazing and I laughed, fyi
Though, you know, also trying not to laugh is go. But mostly... concern.
Katara approaches quickly, not running and a little unsteady on her own feet, her hands open at her sides.] Hey -- are you alright? That looks like it hurt.
i'm so glad lololol

So here she is, just staring blankly at cups in the kitchen like she's not sure what to do next.]

So the water becomes a secondary priority. She approaches slowly, her hands open at her side.] Excuse me... are you all right? Can I help you with something?

Luceti, no, but Southern Water Tribe's familiar. Your brother's told me a lot about it. Have you spoken with him yet?
video - gonna set this before Sokka's for ease of not dealing with an on-going thread :)
And it was strange to be addressed with such familiarity by someone she'd never seen before, but Katara tries not to let it phase her.]

This place, well, sounds like ya got a bit of 'nfo now, but it a lot better than bein' stuck under that dome. 'nd, ya know, no more havin' to sleep on ya side so ya don't crush ya wings, that be a nice bonus.

Vanquish
He feels that exasperation. He feels it a lot.]
It's kind of like they're rubbing it in your face, right?
But hi. Welcome to the Vanquish.
Vanquish 1/2
Oh no, that had an audience?
Well... screw it, she's not exactly ashamed of her frustration, and it probably is a good thing she had an audience, or else she might have ended up kicking a wall.]
