[It's still strange how she completely forgot about this place. Between her health and Manji's on-edge paranoia ~~and mansplaining~~ she's exhausted, and can be found on her own curled up on a chair by a window, watching the starry dark outside. The first time she was here it was a little terrifying. Now, it's just peaceful.

Mostly until she starts coughing, anyway.]

[Blameless]

[And then she gets rudely dumped amidst a shower of confetti on the bridge of an unfamiliar ship, quite literally just sitting on the ground and trying to shield her face from all the coloured paper. Sup, guys. Here's a pale, thin lady in a kimono and shawl who glances up once it's safe, blinking in some confusion.]

...oh. I'd... forgotten.

[For all the confusion, though, she couldn't sound any less interested about being here. It's not personal; that's just Makie for you. She's eternally done with the world.

For anyone not on the bridge, she will at least explore the ship to reorient herself before she goes and takes a nap.]

[Eventually, once she's recovered somewhat, she makes the trip here. She's never stepped into this cargo bay with such uncertainty. Where you guys at?]

[After all that commotion with that other loud guy Castiel was going to just leave the rest of these people well enough alone. No need to but into anybody else's business when he's got plenty to keep him occupied; reading back as far as he can, creeping on Sam to see what he's been up to, listening for anything on angel radio...

But hey. It's not that long ago he was walking the Earth, looking for wrongs to right. Maybe someone being sick isn't so much a 'wrong' as it is the inevitable cycle of life, however tragic, but it seems a little cruel to rip someone from everything they know and force them into some kind of game without even making them comfortable. That, and the way she'd looked at him before...maybe it warrants a little bit of investigation.

So he stows his communicator, slides off of his bed and heads over to stand just beside Makie, looking down at her.] ...you're ill.

[Vash was spending most of his time down on the planet. Trying to find out why everyone was missing from it. He has come back because he's seen a new name added to the crew list and wanted to be around to greet them.

He's surprised to see Makie already on board as he comes off of his shuttle.] Makie! You're back! Well, I mean I heard you came back but-- I mean, I didn't expect to see you here already.

Oh! Have you come back for your instrument? We still have it. It was left behind when you vanished. [Is he talking too much and too fast? He's pretty sure he's talking too much and too fast, but can't stop.]

Already...?

[He expected her to come? She's a little taken aback. But then--

--ah. Hey look, taking refuge in politeness again. She bows.]

I'm sorry to have left you with it, Mr Vash. [Like she had a choice.] I honestly had forgotten.

[It was the one she made Misty, wasn't it? There's someone she hadn't thought of in too long. The realisation that she forgot makes something hurt, deep inside.]

Well, I guess I thought you'd want to check out all your old favorite places and see people. Then come to the ship. [How long has he been in the media center this time? MOVING ON!]

Will you be transferring back? We have the space and will be happy to have you back! Of course, if you think you'll like the ship you've been assigned too already that's fine as well. [Slow. Down. Vash.]

And don't give it another thought! We were happy to have something still here to remember you by! It's not like it was hard to look after either. Much easier than say a cat. HAHAHAHAHA!

[Chuuya sat holding his hat to his chest. He starts questioning himself upon seeing Makie. Is it really her? Is it another one of those strange visions he encountered here before?]

Is it really you? Please tell me it is!

[The coughing isn't so bad. Whatever the Marsiva's faults, the Atroma dialling her illness down to just manageable enough means the shredded remains of her lungs stay put. It's less embarrassing that way, and Castiel's words fill her with a dull sort of amusement. Oh, Cas.

Her voice is more of a dry whisper.] ...you've said that to me before.

[Messer is conveniently on the bridge when she appears, sitting cross-legged in front of a maintenance panel with a series of tools set up around him. He glances over at the sound, recognizing the tone in her voice- yeah, he's felt that. It's why he keeps his own voice somewhat quiet as he calls out.]

Are you alright?

So you did recognize me, [Castiel muses, slipping his hands into his pockets. That confirms what he'd already suspected just by reading through the conversations in the last ten or so hours; he's been here before, and not just one version of him.] Did I offer to heal you before as well?

[There's a huff of genuine amusement at that, tired as it is. But she appreciates the inference, too. She settles her hands back in her lap.]

Twice. This place is not kind to your memories, Castiel. I'm sorry for that.

[......

....this feels strange. There's memory here, that tells her that she made friends here, but she's been gone so long and fallen so far, both within and without. Makie blinks at him with a look that borders on overwhelmed. It doesn't help that he's speaking a mile a minute, either.]

A cat...? [Blankly.]

[For some reason she'd expected to be back on the Twin Roses, but this is definitely a different ship. And Messer is a stranger to her. Though a polite one. And quiet, which is definitely appreciated.

Once she's sure she's not going to accidentally inhale confetti, she lowers her hand and offers him a polite nod.]

Yes. Thank you. I apologise for the mess.

[Who cleans up all the confetti, anyway.]

[Biffy hears and smells her when she ends up in the kitchen area. Because of that he's actually already prepared a second cup of tea and is just finishing it up when he hears she's close enough.]

You must be our new arrival. May I offer you tea?

[He smiles at her warmly, offering her the cup.]

Don't be. Seems to be my lot in life. [Gettin fuckin tired of it tho, for REAL.

Cas shifts his weight, holding a hand palm down over her collarbone without touching just yet, eyes on her face as he waits for her to protest.]

That's not necessary. I've noticed that it's a common problem.

[They only just cleaned the bridge not long ago from his own confetti arrival- there's probably still remnants hanging about in the corners.

He does reach up towards the console to call one of his cleaning bots, though. No sense in putting it off.]

[Kurt does not pace. He does not check the roster obsessively to see where Makie has been sorted.

..Alright, so he doesn't do the latter, and technically neither is he doing the former. He's just practicing his sword-fighting. On the ceiling of the cargo bay. Very emphatically.

Whatever foe he's envisioning, Kurt seems to forget all about them when Makie steps out of the shuttle. He waits long enough for her to regain her footing and then teleports, reappearing an arms-length away.] Makie.

[Her memory is mostly slid back in place, but seeing Chuuya makes her remember the drama that's happened over that hat. She smiles faintly. Still horribly pale and thin, but at least she's healthy. Give her a few weeks.]

It's me, Chuuya-san. Hello.

Oh, well, I more mean your instrument doesn't move or complain for food. So it's a lot easier to take care of! We put it up over here! [He'll lead her through the ship to one of the common areas. It will be hard to miss her shamisen inside a protective case being displayed for all to see with honor.]

[Makie follows slowly. She's no longer ill, but her stamina still took a beating; she trusts Vash won't go too fast for her, anyway.

What Vash really means isn't something she fully understands until they enter the room where Misty's shamisen is on display, and she realises he didn't just mean they kept it safe.

They kept it treasured.

It's a revelation that leaves her standing in stunned silence before the case.]

Ah, I'm so glad! It's good to have you back!

[He smiles, putting his hat on his head.]

It was strange not having you around! You presence always brought a certain kind of comfort.

[....

...well, she's heard that comment before, but entirely in a different context.]

Most people wouldn't say such a thing in my own world. Thank you.

[Oh. It's someone a little less jarring in terms of culture, and greeting her with tea is a help. It's the faintest of smiles, but nevertheless.]

Thank you.

[She takes the cup gratefully, sinking into a seat in the kitchen.]

My name is Makie. Have you been here long...?

Not much longer than you honestly. Barely more than a month really.

[Taking his own cup of tea, he goes to sit with her. He can hardly leave her to just sit alone after he's already offered her some, after all.]

I'm Sandalio de Rabiffano. Despite the circumstances it is nice to meet you, Miss Makie.

[Goodness. That's almost as much a mouthful as her own full name; she stopped giving it on the Fleet after a while.]

Likewise, Mr ... de Rabiffano. [He's a westerner, and she's not sure if she got that right, but manners and all.]

I've been here before, but it's... been a while. For me and for the Fleet, it seems.

[Someone who has been here before? So she went home and came back?]

If you do not mind my asking, what has changed since you were last here?

I feel we are all cursed, sometimes.

[No protest; her expression softens at the gesture, but she says nothing, eyes drifting closed. She might have protested once upon a time, but honestly she just wants to breathe.]
