[The video opens with a view of Bucky's face, hair short, face scruffy and a steel determination in his expression as though challenging the very fleet to suddenly do something and prove all his paranoid assumptions correct.]

The last time I was on a show for other's entertainment, we were made to fight and kill each other until only one person was left. Supposedly that's not the case here. Yet.

I assume some of you have been making attempts to learn more about this place and the people behind it.

[A pause. 'What do you know' was on the tip of his tongue, but he was the offworlder now. He didn't hold a single damn card in his hand he knew it too well. He hated it. He'd have to change that.]

What do we know?

[Anyone on the ship itself for any reason will find Bucky at the comms station, waiting for responses and seeing exactly how far the system would allow him to hack until the firewalls caught him. Sometimes you had to test the strength of the bars when you were in a cage.]

Technically it was a meteor that did it, but it is unsure how much control they had on that. A lot of people still died, while they pointed their cameras at it all.

The best entertainment is the suffering of others.

[He says it matter of fact.]

Especially if your goal is to either scare those who are watching or remind them their lives could be so much worse.

That seems to be the theme Atroma are going for, oui.

[He's pretty sure Atroma are bigger than they let on, they have to be, to have the technology they have at their fingertips. ]

The best we can do is continue to survive in spite of all that. Don't let them get you down.

[He scoffs out a breath of a laugh and glances from his crew-mate back to the console.]

I appreciate what you're trying to do, but trust me when I say it'll take a lot more than anything anyone's told me to 'get me down.'

All of this is nothing compared to what I'm used to. If the people back home could have blown up a planet, they would have and probably televised it and sold toys to children based on it.

I'm not sure what it'll take to get me down, but if I come across it here, I'll let you know.

I would not be surprised if that was the case with Atroma. Though, honestly, it's always a little hard to tell how much of all of this is true or not.

[It might all be some horror induced fever dream, after all. ]

Considering all I've heard so far, I'm not convinced this isn't just some kind of experiment and not actually a reality show, but until I can delve a little deeper, I don't have any proof for that.

[What Lumiere says draws Bucky's attention and he gives a look like he's assessing.]

You seem to be a genuinely good person, that's a rarer thing than you might think. While you're trying to make others feel better, make sure you don't let yourself be taken advantage of either.

It could go either way, in all honesty.

[He's learned to not trust Atroma all that much. He gives a soft 'pfft' sound, waving off the concern- even though it IS one of his very large pitfalls. ]

Do not worry, mon ami, it is not being taken advantage of, if you offer help willingly.

[Bucky definitely side-eyes him for that, but ultimately lets it go. He's glad this guy is here and not in the Capitol, they'd eat him alive for sure. Though he'd probably end up charming quite a few of them.]

If you say so, I'm just advising a little caution, especially when dealing with strangers.

[But to actually drop the issue, he gestures to the consul. He might be a bit worried about this guy's life practices, but he couldn't afford to get invested just now.]

[He's the least dangerous person he knows, but he doesn't push it. ]

Certainly! Though if you have a communication augment, most of it should be in your head already. That's how I learned how to use it. We have nothing like this in my time, back home.

[Well...he's definitely caught in his failed attempt to socialize. Lumiere's not wrong, all the information is there and he's hardly unfamiliar with this kind of tech or even using a comms station, but he'd been trying to be friendly. Maybe he should stick with what he knows. He laughs a bit, though more at himself than anything else.]

Sure, but that doesn't mean there aren't other things they didn't want to stick in our heads. I'm just curious if you found anything through your learning curve.

Honestly, most of my learning curve has been adjusting to this sort of life at all. We do not even have electricity back home.

[In other words, he's been a shitty-ass comms officer. ]

[Bucky can't help the face he makes at that.]

Sometimes we'd lose our electricity for one reason or another, that was hard enough; I can't imagine not having it at all.

[That meant, what? No lights or filters or ventilation, much less any sort of computer or other kind of technology.]

Technology's a major part of my job back home, so I guess I can teach you if you ever run into anything that doesn't make sense.

Well, it wasn't hard for us, we know no other way of living.

[No computers. No TV. No electric lights. ]

[He'd never really thought of himself and what Panem had as 'privileged' when your whole society wants you dead, but he supposed Panem couldn't mess up everything. Next time he turned on some lights, he'd appreciate it more.]

We're supposed to help each other out, right? I intend to try.

[Because he definitely couldn't make any promises.]

[At least Lumière absolutely doesn't have to deal with televised child murder. ]

That is a very good way to look at things, I find.
