[The video opens with a view of Bucky's face, hair short, face scruffy and a steel determination in his expression as though challenging the very fleet to suddenly do something and prove all his paranoid assumptions correct.]

The last time I was on a show for other's entertainment, we were made to fight and kill each other until only one person was left. Supposedly that's not the case here. Yet.

I assume some of you have been making attempts to learn more about this place and the people behind it.

[A pause. 'What do you know' was on the tip of his tongue, but he was the offworlder now. He didn't hold a single damn card in his hand he knew it too well. He hated it. He'd have to change that.]

What do we know?

[Anyone on the ship itself for any reason will find Bucky at the comms station, waiting for responses and seeing exactly how far the system would allow him to hack until the firewalls caught him. Sometimes you had to test the strength of the bars when you were in a cage.]

Well, we haven't run into that here yet, thankfully. I think I still have some unused reporter's notebooks around here somewhere if you'd like me to bring them over to you?

I would, actually. When you have time.

[Not that he didn't trust it, but he didn't fully trust it. People did things for themselves a lot. Maybe it was charity, maybe she was looking for something from him.]

Great! I have some time now but I don't want to crowd you as you're getting into things.

Actually, I have a lot of free time. We could meet at one of the bars?

Now's fine. I prefer to stay busy.

Name the place and...I guess tell me where it is and I'll meet you there.

Let's go to the Space Bar. I'll send you the directions.

[ and she does! and she's there when he shows up, with a few reporters notebooks ]

[He's not a fan of bars in general, but this one seems pleasant enough. Better than the one across the hall, at least.

He meets Kara with a smile when he sees her and joins her at her table.]

Haven't we met somewhere before?

[A small joke, but something to try and smooth things over a little. He knew he could be a little....off-putting at times.]

[ She smiles warmly ]

I think I've seen you around.

You found it okay?

Yeah, it's easy when there's only two bars. Can't say I really like the look of that other one, but it was a popular style back home.

[Too glossy, too disingenuous, too dangerous.]

I want to go ahead and say that I don't expect these for nothing, so name what you might need from me and I'll do what I can to make it happen.

I can't accept anything for them. They were just collecting space dust on my shelf. Now they'll have a nice home with you.

And I can't accept anything for nothing unless it's my birthday, so let's call it an I-owe-you until you find something you might need. Even if it's just a delivery.

If you insist, I suppose.

[ not that she intends to use it, but she doesn't want to press him, either ]

But I have to warn you, I like to do nice things for friends.

[She wasn't the first person to act like this. Kindness and generosity weren't unheard of in Panem, but they were unheard of outside of your own District. No one was going to give an inch to an outsider without good cause. 'Offworlders' was the only thing that ran through his head and it brought a smile to his face, one that was probably the most genuine he'd shown so far. At least some things were going to be the same.]

I hope no one takes advantage of that generosity and kindness, it's a rare combination.

You must make friends easily.

[ Kara has only ever been an outsider for most of her life, and she doesn't want anyone else to feel the same ]

Well, I try.

I know I don't look like it, but I'm very capable of handling myself. And I won't say no one ever has, but I'd rather take the chance. I know how harsh things can be, and I don't want to be that for people. I want to share hope.

['Hope.' Hope was a dangerous thing, sometimes useful, sometimes useless. It could change a fight or a mind or completely destroy someone. Bucky didn't believe in hope, he believed in doing whatever it was that needed to be done and doing it, not hoping for it's eventual occurrence or success.

But she was doing him a favor and she was genuine in a way that was both endearing and worrisome. He wasn't interested in stepping all over someone's beliefs just because he was jaded.]

I believe it. There were plenty of people who could more than hold their own even when they didn't look it back home. You're very kind.

But I've taken enough of your time, I should get back to settling in and figuring out how everything works.

[He smirked.]

Remember, you need anything, let me know. [A beat.] And not just cause I owe you, either.
