[So this is where she goes when she wants time to think, apparently.  The bunker is a place she won't enter; between the heavy aftermath of a mass death and the understandably stricken reactions of its visitors, the atmosphere is far too toxic.  But it doesn't mean she isn't grieving.  The deaths could not be helped and are god knows how far in the past, but the fact that these people have been forgotten - not acknowledged even by this automated town, let alone the rest of space - is something that sits very poorly.  She can't even change anything about the town to reflect its population's final days.

She's walking the rollercoaster tracks, very high up, thinking over the issue.  Don't ask how she got up that high.  And don't worry if you should be using the rollercoaster at the time; she can avoid you.  Might give you a bit of a scare, though, sorry.

Eventually, she puts a call through to Sam.]

[Outside of town]

[As far as she can go before she suspects (or hopes) she's outside the range of the city's replication science so her work isn't scrubbed.  She's not too far from the bunker; it would be pointless if she were too far away from it. 

She finds a rock face smooth enough, and between a thick blade and Kirito's lightsaber she carves a memorial.  Maybe nobody will ever see it, but if any other visitors come to this place, they should know what happened.  It's worth the extra headache.]

[And Broadcast]

I've decided to quit making dreamcatchers and move on to voodoo dolls instead.  It's more fun.  So if you'd like to take one before I end up throwing them all out, feel free.

[Just so you know.  Totally honest, as usual.  Less cheerful than normal.

If anyone wants her she'll be curled up in her office with Licorice on her lap.  She's so tired of these planets.]

[Vash lets himself in.] That's too bad. I guess I'll have to see this random doctor I've never met before! [Vash grins playfully as if he hasn't been having a very bad month.] 'Sup doc! I'm here for my check up!

[Welcome to Katie's office. Which consists of a stack of blankets, cushions, one boring desk covered in small wool creations, a shelf full of woollen dolls, and a couple of dreamcatchers still hanging on the walls.

Katie's in the process of making another one with a bright shock of red in it.]

Overworked and underpaid. That's your checkup. Would you like a sick note?

[Vash walks up to the woollen dolls and gives them a look. He avoids touching them as that seemed too rude.] You're a miracle worker doc! I already feel cured! But I'll take that note in case I suddenly feel sick again.

[She's not too fussed. The only way the dolls can hurt him is if he deliberately breaks one, and somehow Katie doubts Vash would do that.]

Hmm, all out of pens. Would you like one of these instead? [She lifts one of her finished dream catchers by its string loop.]

Oh, I suppose if I must! [Vash turns and takes the offered dream catcher by it's string loop before sincerely adding.] And thanks. You know, I've never had a dream catcher before.

Did you know what one was before this?

[She's curious. Dream catchers are an earth thing, but it's by far not the first bit of culture that could be cross-universe.]

Some back home believed in them. [Some of the old traditions that carried on from Earth.] Not many these days. If I'm being honest.

That, or maybe people back home just don't put much faith in their dreams anymore. [He's been in a melancholy mood for some reason lately.]

I dunno. Sometimes I know people can feel better if a prayer is read. I'm still on the fence about it myself. [He likes the dedication some people have to religion. He likes certain parts of religion. Then again, sometimes religion goes too far.]

Well, I suppose you can pray or not depending on how you feel in the moment.
