[So this is where she goes when she wants time to think, apparently.  The bunker is a place she won't enter; between the heavy aftermath of a mass death and the understandably stricken reactions of its visitors, the atmosphere is far too toxic.  But it doesn't mean she isn't grieving.  The deaths could not be helped and are god knows how far in the past, but the fact that these people have been forgotten - not acknowledged even by this automated town, let alone the rest of space - is something that sits very poorly.  She can't even change anything about the town to reflect its population's final days.

She's walking the rollercoaster tracks, very high up, thinking over the issue.  Don't ask how she got up that high.  And don't worry if you should be using the rollercoaster at the time; she can avoid you.  Might give you a bit of a scare, though, sorry.

Eventually, she puts a call through to Sam.]

[Outside of town]

[As far as she can go before she suspects (or hopes) she's outside the range of the city's replication science so her work isn't scrubbed.  She's not too far from the bunker; it would be pointless if she were too far away from it. 

She finds a rock face smooth enough, and between a thick blade and Kirito's lightsaber she carves a memorial.  Maybe nobody will ever see it, but if any other visitors come to this place, they should know what happened.  It's worth the extra headache.]

[And Broadcast]

I've decided to quit making dreamcatchers and move on to voodoo dolls instead.  It's more fun.  So if you'd like to take one before I end up throwing them all out, feel free.

[Just so you know.  Totally honest, as usual.  Less cheerful than normal.

If anyone wants her she'll be curled up in her office with Licorice on her lap.  She's so tired of these planets.]

Red can be very heroic. It's colors like purple or green that really bring out the horror of what someone does. Even all black doesn't have the kick it once did.

Oh, true. All the heroes wear red capes. Hm, and purple and green are the sorts of colours you'd identify with poison...

Very well. I shall change my wardrobe.

Hmm. A dark purple with light green trim, perhaps? It would be like those cartoons they make for children.

[hollystrike]

Well, you can't go wrong with cartoons. Perhaps they'll have something at our next stop that isn't so depressing.

You can; I like the depressing tones of achromatic hues. You always look like you're waiting on a funeral, but you never have to worry about putting an outfit together.

So little effort. Haven't you given thought to some white or gold? You'd make a great mad scientist.

[ginger_firebird]

I have the personality for it, but white stains way too easily for my comfort. [He looks down at himself, taking in his catsuit.] Gold could work. Gold trim, at least.

[hollystrike]

There we go! Gold you could hide at a moment's notice in case you need to be stealthy. Unless you're hiding in a city skyline.

You might actually be on to something here if we ever end up on an inhabited planet again. This planet is nice, but it's clear that whoever was supposed to live here isn't.

[hollystrike]

You think the population wasn't nice?

[She tilts her head.] It's the lousy taste in theme rides, isn't it.

[ginger_firebird]

I don't know what kind of people they were before they were gone, but they can't have planned well if this is all that remains.

[He laughs.] These rides are very typical from my world.

[hollystrike]

I think they were the average sort of people. Capable of making vast, extinction level mistakes.

[She wonders, though, at the way he put that.] You heard they found the townsfolk?

[ginger_firebird]

I visited the crypt. Not my first time seeing that many dead people in one place, but it's never not depressing. As far as I could figure out, they had no means to create farms or anything self-sustaining that didn't rely on advanced technology.

[hollystrike]

That's the problem with letting machines do all the thinking for you. If the tech breaks down, you're in so much trouble.

...sometimes far more than other times.

[I mean, here we are, deserted town and all.]

What little does self-sustain is falling apart, too. I wouldn't be surprised if this town eventually stopped working correctly.

Or goes haywire. Perhaps one day we'll revisit to find the place buried under a mountain of replicated oranges.

There's worse ways to go. A giant pile of rotting food might be enough to turn the soil usable to more than cacti.

[hollystrike]

There is that. It's not like anyone will be here to complain about the flies in the meantime.

I wouldn't come up close to the sight, but it would make for something truly different around here.
