[The Space Bar staff made good use of the ever-replenishing alcohol supply at their last stop, and Nami and Remy got around to discussing the idea of testing various experimental mixes to come up with new additions for the menu.  I mean, add to that Nami hasn't made a decision which one of the applicants should take the main bar job, so clearly the best idea is to shove them all into one place and ply them with alcohol while they talk to each other and work it out after that.

No, it's a good idea.  Shut up.

...okay.  It may just be a good excuse for a party.  Sue her.]

[She's not stupid, mind, you betcha anything valuable out on the floor has been removed. There are gods and super-soldier types coming and some of them are really quite grumpy :| For at least the first part of the evening, Nami will be behind the bar and dishing out the booze, helping Remy come up with different mixes and trying them out on the guinea pigs. She'll happily serve you up your drink of choice.

Drinks are not free, except for the experimental rounds. But they are heavily discounted. She's still gotta have the money to buy more at their next stop.]

[ Even if it's just a job and a relief one at that, Loki comes prepared. He's dressed well in Midgardian clothing and his hair curled over his shoulder, a small silver ring around it like a small ponytail. The way he moves drinks and glasses around is so deft, it feels like a slight of hand and you can't help staring at the movements. You may not even realize your drink was made until he slides it over to you, green eyes bright. ]

That is yours, I believe.

[being the anti-social butterfly that he is, Ben's sat at the furthest corners of the bar, beer in hand but barely touched. It isn't that he doesn't like drinking, it's just that he's a lightweight. In the sense that four beers is enough to put him down, and that's not taking into account the artificial liver.

If he isn't sitting pretending to drink his beer, then he's behind the bar, examining what's there and figuring out the bartender thing. How hard could it be? He didn't have to talk to people, right?

Why someone who doesn't like socializing and can't drink much decided to be a bartender is a mystery even to Ben, but he's here]

[far be it from Tempest to turn down an invitation to drink. As a regular to both bars it shouldn't be surprising to find her there anyway. And while she may not be able to put away as many drinks as some of the other non-humans, well. She can definitely put away her fair share. She used to drink with Dwarves for fun, after all. Being drunk is a choice she's all too happy to make any chance she gets.

Rather than her usual corner spot, however, she's parked at the bar proper for once. And while it'll take a few drinks for her to be eager to socialize rather than begrudgingly, she's in a fairly decent mood. Come drink with her, and maybe she'll try to drink you under the table]

Bartending. I take it you're not familiar with this line of work.

Yeah, no, this isn't in my wheel house. [he gives a shrug] But I figure it ain't too hard to learn.

Eh, I like a challenge. And it gives me something to do.

If I don't improve and suck that much then the boss lady's more than welcome to kick my ass out.

What are some names for the other drinks? Perhaps one can provide some inspiration.

Not particularly, but it's still something I've never done before.

Well, I haven't exactly named those either, apart from, you know, The Good Stuff, The Strong Stuff. Not really labels. [She's bad at labels. She once named a camel Eyelashes.] Beer and whiskey and vodka and the like are just that. The special mixes I have no name for? Not so much.

[Crowley would totally name his drinks far better things.]

Why not simply number them? And call them - I don't know, a potion or a tonic or something else. It seems a lot easier than trying to come up with names, yes?

I enlisted in the army right out of high school, was a corporal when they discharged me. Then I went on to be a cop, but that's a shit job in a shit system so I decided to do the private investigator thing instead.

[What's a better way to get a job than to work for free? So long as no one stops him, Zack is pulling double duty, drinking samplers and learning how to recreate what's popular, hopping over the bar counter to fix up requests and downing shots when he's finished. Some might say it's unprofessional to drink on the job! Some may be right about that. Zack, however, doesn't appear to have any scruples.

It does help that no matter how much he drinks, he holds it surprisingly well- no slurs, no stagger. And he remains a smiling face and a listening ear regardless of which side of the counter he's on, happy to strike up conversation with damn near anyone.]

Seriously? [that's - well, he shouldn't be surprised. But he's still surprised] Uh - geez, how can I—cops - police - enforce laws and protect and serve civilians. If you commit a crime and get caught, then the cops arrest you.

Ah. A smaller military force to enforce the laws.

[ Asgard only had its soldiers and they were only loyal to the king. There have been variations but "Cops" were new to Loki. ]

More or less. It differs from the military in a few ways, but - that's mostly technicalities and other bullshit.
