Who: Peggy Carter and YOU.
Broadcast: Video
Action: Starstruck, various locations in the Yadrolla system.
When: First week of May
( --VIDEO )
[ it's been some time since peggy has addressed the network in any sort of wide or public capacity. broadcasting isn't her preferred pastime -- except it can't always be helped, can it? as silly and sentimental as her motivations must be, there's a question she needs to ask the fleet. so she leans back, posture comfortable, in her captain's chair as she addresses her handheld device -- and not, notably, the ship's built-in comms console.
this is far from official business, after all. ]
I don't suppose anyone has got sixpence to spare, have they? [ she pauses, stuck between looking sweet and looking sour. ] A real one, ideally. From Earth.
[ although she's not much of a traditionalist at heart, there are some superstitions worth following -- if only for the hype they engender and the excitement they stir up. for the first time in a long time, peggy misses her mum. ]
And -- [ oh, this clearly pains her to ask ] -- have we got anyone with a steady hand for cutting hair? My usual self-inflicted trim won't do this time around.
( --ACTION )
[ beyond fulfilling superstitious rhymes, there's also some quiet venue-hunting to consider -- not to mention a reception to plan. peggy isn't looking forward to either of these activities. although she can be found wandering on one planet's sandy shores or in another's lusciously overgrown urban jungle, she proves herself quick to approach a friendly face. if only to distract herself from the rather dreary chore of pulling together a wedding celebration with only a week to spare. she'd much rather invite someone familiar for a drink or a stroll than fuss over choices.
but she does manage to do a bit of shopping. she picks up a pair of earrings and examines them with a critical eye. a set of cuff-links, too. or what she assumes are cuff-links. it's tough to be certain on some planets.
and, as always, she can be found aboard the starstruck during evenings. engrossed in paperwork blissfully unrelated to her impending nuptials, perhaps, or else finishing up an exercise routine in the cargo bay with her towel draped over her shoulder. there's not an ounce of uncertainty about her on her own ship; she's perfectly at home within its walls. ]

[ peggy, here to point out the even more obvious. ]

[You know, if he had to worry about that kind of thing. Sam just buzzes his every couple of weeks.]

I've seen your hair. [ a beat. ] And I say this as kindly as possible, [ ha! ] But it doesn't exactly inspire much confidence on that front.
[ at least not in the way of wedding styles. ]
no subject
Neither does yours.
But I'm not a woman. And at the very least, I have experience with women's hair.

Jungle
He's got one of the pads of paper Kara had given him on the closest thing to a clipboard he could find as he investigated some of the more well-traveled areas. He'd intended to use it for his continued attempts at work and note keeping, but the page was far more empty than he normally would have liked. The country boy in him was just a little too distracted by all the nature.
As he cut through into a new area, he stopped short, hesitated, then shook off the nerves that had washed over him and approached the familiar figure he hadn't been expecting to run across.]
It's nice out here, isn't it? Peaceful, but not too quiet.
no subject
she needs a name for him. no one deserves to be labelled simply 'the other one' in anyone's thoughts.
peggy clears her throat. she eyes the high stone walls of the overgrown urban environment -- shading her face. there's a ring on her left hand. ]
The greenery seems almost to absorb some of the noise. Like a thick, insulating blanket. [ who needs hellos? not her; not him. and when she glances once more in barnes's direction, her smile is a touch crooked. ] It makes the whole place feel quite ancient too.

[He's observant, taught himself to be even more so out of necessity with everything in the rebellion, but he's always been hyper aware of everything Peggy and Steve. Steve would hide when the sickness was at it's worse until Bucky and Peggy would force him to rest. Peggy always hid any amount of pain or fear out of a feeling of needing to protect Steve and Bucky. Bucky had always done much of the same, but more from a desire not to add to their own concerns. He took care of them; he would have been happy doing that the rest of their lives.
So he notices the way she does her hair, the way she holds herself, the quirk to her lips and the ring on her finger that makes his breath catch in his chest. He wants to ask her a hundred questions, but bites the inside of his lip to stop himself.]
Yeah.
Back home, I lived in a place called District 13 for just short of a decade, but it was all underground. Technically, I wasn't supposed to go out, the place had been bombed close to a hundred years ago and nothing was supposed to be living there, but I had a system in place that let me get out now and then. The satellites didn't typically catch one person in the dead of night.
There were structures that had survived the bombing, husks of things, but what plants had managed to grow back in the radiation had overtaken them. It was...peaceful and quiet in a weird, morbid way. This place kind of reminds me of that. Except more alive...and nicer.

shopping
And she always keeps an eye open for people she knows.
It's been a while since she and Peggy met in more than passing. Seems like a good time to make contact.]
New earrings?
no subject
[ she confirms.
they're a pretty pair -- coded, by colour, for an allegiance to a sports team peggy can't be bothered to acknowledge. but the colour matches her pendant. more importantly, it matches the sea glass on her ring. even so, they'd not quite what she's looking for. so peggy sets then back down and shifts her attention fully onto natasha.
there comes a point where there's less and less use in playing coy when talking to someone who can see the little details as readily as she can the big ones. ]
I can't decide whether to match the stone on the ring or the style of the dress, you see.
no subject
Hard to say. I'm inclined to say the dress but I'd have to see it to give an informed opinion.

[She has no idea why home currency would be important, but she figures Peggy's not the type to ask if it isn't important, so. Can't hurt to offer.]
Oh, but if you need your hair done up and don't find anybody better, I know a few things!
video;
I may very well need to beg your yen off you yet.

--yes, I am set on the colour! If you ask again I'll find a merchant who likes that bird team. [An unintelligible reply, and Thor just waves with a grin.] Great!
[Turning around, he spots Peggy and brightens.]
Peggy, hello. Out looking for supplies?

[ she does find a sincere smile of her own when she sees thor. he's made an impression since arriving in the fleet and that impression, braided into every story steve has ever told her, has inclined her sharply towards friendship.
she watches him dispatch a cranky tailor with a grin and she can't help but laugh. just a little, albeit warmly. ]

she smiles and holds up a pair of cuff-links. ]
Don't they just? [ but she sighs. ] Still, they're a little too much for him.
[ she doesn't need to name him. ]
I just feel as though if I'm expected to put in an effort, then so should he.

[ it's an arrangement that works, peggy scouts some locations, steve scouts others. he takes notes, naturally and today, there are some sketches too. rough pencil lines devoid of color, yes; but sketches, still.
he is leaned against the wall of the cargo bay, watches her with perhaps too keen of an interest as she goes through her routine. ]
humid, though. you might find it too hot. would've helped if I knew what you'd be wearing.
