[That was, uh... that was a thing. Yeah. Kairi is looking a little shaken, though she fights to stay composed. One day she'll have to face danger and being attacked from all sides. Granted, it won't be on a space ship, so maybe she does have some room to be unnerved.]

Is everyone all right? The Blue Fish got by okay, but I don't know about the rest of the ships yet. It sounded like a lot of them took heavy fire... Who attacked us, anyway?

[She shakes her head, setting aside that question. Whoever it was, it could wait. There were more pressing issues.]

There isn't much I can do to help with anyone wounded or repairing ships. I can cook, though. And I can help run supplies, if anyone needs an extra hand to get supplies to their ships. Really, if anyone needs a hand anywhere, I'll do what I can. [This feeling of helplessness is horrible, and she wishes she can offer more in the way of help.

Kairi doesn't know how to do private messages on these phones yet, so the next part is still public.]

Riku, Axel... if you guys hear this, please let me know if you're all right. If you need anything, I'll stop over as soon as I can. Please just be okay.

[He's a little surprised (and more than a little touched) she asked for him by name. Axel doesn't look too worse for wear, there's no blood or visible bruising on his face when he answers her message.]

I'm okay. My ship's lost gravity, which was fun for about five minutes, but now it's just annoying.

You all right? I know the Bishop and the Red Fish took some pretty heavy fire, but so far I haven't heard that anyone's been really badly injured.

[She's relieved to have heard from Axel, at least. That's one out of two accounted for.]

Yeah, I can see that being difficult, especially during an attack. But there are worse things that could have been damaged.

We're okay. Took some damage, but nothing major, and no one's seriously injured. I guess we're all just a bit shaken up. [Or she is, at least.]

Definitely worse things that could have been damaged. [Like the hull.]

I think everyone's a little shaken up, honestly. Being attacked for no good reason tends to have that effect on people, in my experience.

[He rubs the back of his head and looks a little awkward.]

I, ah... I'm glad you're okay.

[And, well... he is! He never disliked Kairi, and he genuinely wanted to get her out of the castle before. He honestly wants to get to know her, especially since they're apparently actually all on the same team now, some nebulous time in his future.]

So no one has any idea who they were? Or why they attacked? [Being new, she had just thought it was related to something that had happened in the past. If that wasn't it, though, then what was the reason?]

Thank you. [It's met with a small, grateful smile. While this may be Axel she's dealing with, it is the part of Lea (or alter ego or whatever you could categorize a Nobody as) that she's more familiar with. Despite his mishaps and motives back then, she never believed he didn't care at all.] I'm glad you are, too. I was worried. I still haven't heard from Riku, though... Have you heard anything?

Doesn't seem that way. I didn't think we'd done anything that warranted being attacked, but maybe someone pissed off the wrong person on the last planet we visited. Who knows? [He shrugs and shakes his head.

[Then he looks a little embarrassed.]

Don't worry about me, princess. I wouldn't get taken out so easily.

I haven't heard from Riku personally, but I talked to his captain and he said their ship was fine and nobody got hurt, so I'm sure Riku's all right.

That's a bit of an extreme reaction, if that's the case. [Overreaction, much? But it's only speculation, so she can't comment much either way.] Was the mothership attacked, too?

[Frown.] I guess not, given how much of a beating you always seem to get. Still, getting shot at by another ship is different than getting attacked by a person.

[While she's glad to know Riku's okay, she still wish he'd contact. But he might have his hands full, so she won't push it.]

I dunno, actually--Marsiva's been silent, haven't heard a peep. So either this was all planned and they're just not giving us any answers, or it was completely unplanned and they're scrambling to find some themselves. Personally, I'd put my munny on the former.

[He laughs helplessly then. Even Kairi's noticed he seems to wind up being the punching bag when stuff goes awry. But he knows that look, he's sure she's worried about Riku.]

Don't look so worried, Kairi. [He runs a fingertip back and forth across his forehead.] You'll get wrinkles! I'm sure Riku's fine, but if you're that concerned, you know you can contact him directly, right? If you've got somebody's ID number you can send them a private message.

Would they really deliberately have someone attack us for ratings? [That is so fucked up, if that's the case.] Someone could have died!

You can make them private? [Shit son, she didn't know that. She's sent him like, text messages and stuff before, but she didn't know about the privacy setting.] I know how to message him directly, but I wasn't sure if it could still pop up for everyone to see. Maybe I will, then, just in case.

I'm not sure I'd put anything past them, really. I mean they somehow kidnapped all of us from wherever we were before and brought us here with no regard for what we might have been in the middle of--I'd say a planned attack is certainly in the scope of reality.

[He points to the lower part of the screen, toward where some of the buttons are below it.]

There's a filter option. You can input the ID number, and it'll be a private message. Now... [He looks a little guilty.] I mean, there's only so much an encryption can do, but it doesn't just pop up for everyone to see. [He might actually spend some of his time poking through encrypted messages to snoop on people. Hey, he's curious, okay?]

I... guess you have a point there. Still, it just seems so out of line for them to do that, even considering the other things they've done. But if ratings are that important to them...

[Well, her opinion of Atroma just dropped a bit, that's for sure. Even if they weren't responsible for the attack, surely there was something they could have done to help.]

Oh, I see. Thanks, Axel. [Ha, she got it right the first time!

However, his little comment, and that look, doesn't go unnoticed. Kairi raises an eyebrow at him.]

People can hack into it?

I dunno, probably. Nothing's really 100% foolproof, right?

[Since the attack, your first mate has been nothing but tried to be stoic. Insisting that others should have their injuries looked at before his, insisting that he's not tired and can still help take care of the wounded. Insisting that he's perfectly alright, really!]

[However, at the offer of cooking? That whole...stoic first mate act is going to go away. Because it's food. It's the offer of food. The thing that Allen loves the most and regularly pigs out on]

Ahhh...I could use some food...

[Your cook has noticed, and quite frankly she wishes he'd allow himself to be taken care of a bit. Which is why she's glad he takes her up on the offer.]

Of course! We are crewmates, and I am the ship's cook. All you guys have to do is ask if you're hungry. Is there anything in particular you want?

[He smiles. Kairi is so nice.]

Um...! What about some stew? Or pizza? Or maybe some pasta? Or all of them maybe...

[Yeaaaah he'll eat anything]

[Allen, she hopes you haven't been neglecting to eat or anything...]

I can do all of them, but it'll take a little bit. I'm sure Sokka stashed beef somewhere so I could make a nice beef stew. Any toppings on the pizza?

[No this is actually small for Allen's appetite sadly]

Beef Stew...I haven't had that in forever...!

Hmmmm...mushrooms, peppers, anchovies?

[...he's going to be a joy to keep fed, isn't he?]

I'll see what we've got! Pretty sure I saw peppers around somewhere. I'm making food for Sokka, too, so when that's done feel free to help yourself to that, too.

[At least you will be treated with constant gratitude???]

Thank you! Though Sokka eats...a lot more meat than I prefer, so that's alright. [plus he gets possessive of his meat. Weird.]

[GRATITUDE IS GOOD but it does not do the dishes.]

So I'm starting to learn. That can't be healthy. But no worries, there'll be plenty of food. I might make cookies, too, to cheer everyone up.

[His eyes light up] Really? That'd be wonderful! Thank you!

But what about you? What sorts of food do you like?

No problem. [He might be able to hear her get up and head towards the kitchen. She's got a lot to cook.]

Me? I eat a lot of sweets: fruits, candies, anything like that. But I like spicy food, too. [A pause.] There's not much I don't like, really. Except for sour things. What about you?

Sweet and Spicy, but not sour... [He'll make a note of that, to keep an eye out for things like that when he's doing supplies] Okay!

Haha- I'll eat most things. I do like spicy things though! As well as things that are both sweet and salty!

Sweet and salty... Do they have sea salt ice cream where you're from? [She couldn't help but think of that when he mentioned sweet and salty.]

Sea salt ice cream....?

[He shakes his head]

No, I can't say I've ever heard of it.

Hmmm... maybe it's only from that one town. It's pretty much what it sounds like - salty, but sweet at the same time.

Ice cream that's sweet and salty at the same time....

That sounds delicious! [He makes a little happy noise] Aw, I'd love to try it sometime!

I'll keep an eye out for it! Maybe another world has it, or something similar. It's definitely something you want to try at least once.

Well, food does always make things better.

Sokka, I think you have a problem. But I'll definitely make something. How about chili?

You've never had chili? [Say whaaaaaaaaat] It's sort of like a stew, but it's pretty heavy. It's got ground up beef, beans, peppers, onions, garlic... And it's usually pretty spicy, so there might be chili powder or something to give it a kick.

...I have never felt like I've been missing something so much in my life as I do in this very moment.

[Light, how can she not laugh at that expression?]

It's really good. I'm surprised you don't have it where you're from.

Maybe they do in the Fire Nation?

It sounds like a Fire Nation dish.

Can't say I've ever heard of that country, but if they tend to have spicy cuisine, then it's possible.

They love the spicy food. I think it's because they really dig the fire motif.

Well, regardless, you've never had it and we'll have to fix that. It'll take a bit to prepare, but if you come down to the kitchen in about an hour, I should have some ready for you.

Good to hear! I heard some ships took way more damage than others.

Donuts, from scratch? Ah, I don't know. I've never tried to make them before, honestly. They're not easy, or so I hear.

But you could try, couldn't you? I'd be happy to volunteer as taste tester!

I... if I can find a recipe and can get the ingredients. [She's not comfortable with the prospect. Donuts are way different than anything she's done.] It'll have to wait a day or two, though. My ship mates asked for quite a bit of food, and I won't have time to make the donuts on top of everything else.

I'll be forever in your debt if you at least try when you get the chance!

I'm also happy to taste test any food you want to be sure if perfect before you serve it to your crew!
