[This planet... is FUN! Who would've thought? After dealing with the mystery and following dark news of their previous visit, plus the arrival of an undesired person from home, Shiro is ready to distract himself with some contests. He doesn't show it often, but he has a competitive side and while he's not a sore loser (for him the main point is definitely enjoying the activity) he does play to win. He's also very athletic and loves taking part in sports, even if actually watching them isn't his thing unless there's a friend he wants to root for.

So here he's now, wearing the Starstrikers colors (so... not different from usual), signing up for things and, after a few days in the planet, also being followed by a bunch of fangirls/fanboys. Try and ignore them, he does most of the time.]

A. Arm wrestling

[So obvious, isn't it? And you may think, doesn't this count as cheating? Don't worry, Shiro is a fair man, and he asks his opponent what arm they want him to use: his robot arm or the natural one. It doesn't matter much - so far, he's won with both. If his opponent is friendly and chatty, so is he, but if they are the kind that want to trashtalk or provoke him, he keeps his poker face and ignores them. Everyone gets offered a handshake at the end, though, no exceptions, and it's then that some times he gets ignored. What happened to good manners in competitions? Geez.

Sore losers aside, it's obvious that Shiro's enjoying himself, and he grins as he calls out.] Point for the Starstrikers! Who's next?

[Some girls squeal, others yell the kind of things they want Shiro to use his hands for. Shiro hides behind drinking from his water bottle before the next match. Embarrassing...]

[There's a reason why he's chosen arm wrestling and other stuff like board games for activities. Sitting at a table is easy to deal with, only a small or medium group of fans around it is easy to deal with. It's not a big stadium, it's not a cheering crowd asking for more.

But sooner or later, the discomfort comes. It can come in the way of the referee raising his arm and calling him champion, with some times the fans putting the damn word together with his name. Or it can come in the way of the Starstrikers recruiters following him around and begging him to join some other activities like boxing, kickboxing, wrestling or martial arts.

No matter which scenario your character witnesses, Shiro's reaction is the same: his face gets white and he removes himself from the situation. He makes his way through the crows as quick as possible, bumping more than one shoulder, and more than possible bumping into your character too.]

Sorry, didn't see you there. [He mumbles before trying to continue his escape without being noticed. Go after him?]

C. Gotta go fast

[Races are good. Races are great. Yes, races have a stadium and a crowd, but they're the exception. Because here, Shiro can turn off his brain and just let adrenaline, concentration and speed take over. He has pilot blood in his veins and it shows - bikes, cars, shuttles, some times even traditional running, he joins them all. And with Keith in more than one occasion, which shows how in sync they're with each other, a look being enough to leave a group of opponents eating their dust.

If there are obstacles, even better. So maybe he has a bit of a daredevil hidden in him, don't judge him

You can come and race against him! Or catch him between races doing stuff like having a snack while watching the mechanics do their thing, signing autographs (yeah, ok, he's given in) or admiring the vehicles they get to race.] It's a pity we can't take one of these back to the ships with us, isn't it?

D. Who let the dogs out

[Procyon has grown quite a bit since December. While he hasn't reached full growth, he isn't that little puppy anymore either - he's somewhere in the middle. Enough to join the pets competition! Shiro has tied a bandana with the team colors around the dog's neck and is now showing what a good boy he is. Sit, roll, paw, bark, he follows every order without hesitation.

For his last trick, he approaches a member of the small crowd (aka maybe you!), drops a flower at their feet and then covers his face with a paw, playing embarrassed. Isn't he the cutest?]

E. Shopping

...is everything branded here?

[Shiro sounds frustrated, and that's because he is. He's trying to find a cute gift but even the most innocent flower has a logo on it. Young girls don't like that, right? (Not that the gift-ee is literally young, but details.) Of course, you may not care about the brands and you may care more about the fact Shiro is looking at cutesie stuffed animals, flowery hair pins and sparkly bracelets. Feel free to ask.]

F. The fandom

[He shouldn't be surprised, really. At home, he always had people going after him because of his looks, and then he became the golden boy of the Galaxy Garrison - a hero. A reputation. Later on, according to Coran, he was the most popular member of the "Voltron Show". And it's when he remembers that show, how important it turned out to be for the sake of the universe, that Shiro finally gives in and tries to give some attention to the big amount of fans he's gained in this planet.

The Black Lion, they've nicknamed him, and he doesn't dislike it. He does dislike when they push each other or argue, so sorry if you're caught in that while trying to approach him!

He signs autograph books, Starstrikers hats and sweatshirts, and some lion plushies that have started to go around (they're even winged! cute, they can stay), but then... there are pictures. Very candid ones. Taken by certain photograph member of a JRPG boy band, but Shiro doesn't know this. He looks around and frowns.]

Where are those coming from?

1. At the beach - wearing a full body swimsuit, either swimming or playing beach volley, throwing a ball or disc for his dog
2. Playing board games - watch out for his poker face, he's a strategist
3. At the snowy area - skiing, playing with his dog, making snowmen or joining a snowball fight
4. Tropical area - having his morning run and breakfast (most likely joined by dog too)
5. Rooting for friends in other activities
6. Buying tons of food stock for the Blameless

I'm fine. [And because he knows what's coming after everything that has happened since Ulaz arrived, he adds-] Just a little shaken. You aren't joining any of the activities? Why?

[Yeah, look at him changing subjects, let's do that.]

I can see that part. [He won't push Shiro at least for the moment. If Shiro needs to talk about it or doesn't seem to getting back to a better mind set, then he'll push, but for now, he'll go with the subject change]

I don't feel like being competitive. The obsession is too great here.

[Ok, that gets Shiro to make an amused noise, a mix of chuckle and a snort.]

That's true. But you know you can join the fun without joining the obsession, right?

Can I? In what way? Being a cheerleader?

[Please, really could you imagine that?]

The Galra don't have them, but other races do. Of course I don't know what your version of cheerleaders are.

Oh, of course, that makes sense.

[So Ulaz wasn't thinking about putting on a skirt and grabbing pom-poms, ok. One less thing to kill Lance over.]

Anyway, I wasn't talking about cheerleaders. There are people having friendly matches for fun. There are tons of games to try, too.

[Yeah no, Ulaz was not thinking of putting on a skirt even if he knew that's what human cheerleaders did. Perish the thought. He already stood out too much for his liking (because you know secretive organization where the point was to not stand out), he didn't need to do something that would make him stand out even more]

Hmm... I suppose one that's not for a competition wouldn't be bad.

[He puts his hand on Ulaz's lower back (why so tall) to get him moving, because he's still shaken and he wants to get away from the crowds. And as he does so, he realizes that even after so many months of having Ulaz in the fleet, he isn't hasn't learned that much about him.]

What kind of things are you interested in? I bet we can find you a game related to it. [Yes, sure, Shiro, Ulaz is the one that needs distraction, right?]

[Ulaz didn’t need the prompt to start walking. If it would get Shiro out of a crowded area when his nerves were raw, that’s what was important]

Aside from the obvious? I do like games that make you think. Number related, word challenge, things like that.

[The obvious must be combat stuff, Shiro guesses, and he isn't interested in going there. But what comes next? What a nice surprise to learn this about Ulaz.]

You like board games and puzzles! [Big smile! To think Ulaz had been wary to join the chess match with Kirk last time.] You should've said something before, I have many of them in the Blameless.

[Yes the obvious is combat related. He'd good at that and well-trained for it. Perhaps part of the reason he doesn't want to do it? Too easy, too unfair, or just doesn't want to be bothered.

He couldn't help the mildly surprised look when Shiro suddenly blurted that out. Not wary persay... more wanting to observe first to see how it was played]

Of course. I'd love to play against you. [Ulaz, with a mind that thinks different from humans, would make a very interesting opponent. Shiro changes roads, wanting to take Ulaz to to the board games areas. Lots of tables there to just pick a game and sit.] Have you ever heard of the concept of a "Rubik's cube"?

Good. I'm looking forward to it.

[And he was. Honestly. He knew Shiro was intelligent person. He'd seen a bit of how his mind worked with the chess game, but to see it more would be impressive. He follows Shiro wherever he had decided to go]

Perhaps. I'm not familiar with a Rubik's Cube itself so I'd have to see.

It's a puzzle on a cube. You can do it and undo it over and over, it's extremely unlikely to have the same solution twice. I have traditional board games too. [He tilts his head at Ulaz.] I'm not bad at numbers, but for that kind of thing you'll probably have to go to Pidge or Hunk. Unless cards and dice count?

I'd be interested in trying this "rubik's cube". Sounds like it has potential. [Something that can be solved and resolved repeatedly and not have the same solution sounded appealing]

Cards and dice? In what way?

I have a bunch of them that I took at Lone Breaker. You can borrow them whenever you want. [He finds the idea of a Galra solving a Rubik's cube curious and a bit amusing, he must admit.] There are many card games that include counting and math. And there are some very smart people that play regular card games and are able to count cards, using that to their advantage.

Thank you. I will have to do that. [It might prove interesting during some down time and help with maintaining his cognitive function. He'd learned to do a lot of things to keep his mind sharp on the Thaldycon base alone]

And you will teach me some of the card games from your world?

[Yeah, teaching a Galra that was smart enough to infiltrate an Altean ship for who knew how long without being seen a game where he can count cards is probably not the best idea]

[Shiro nods, liking the idea more and more the more they discuss it. It sounds just perfect!]

I will. And you can teach me too, if you have them. We can have a game night with the team, if you want more opponents. That would be fun. But you can count on me to teach you first.

Of course. I can teach you so we can share our respective games. More opponents would make some of the games more interesting.

[Knowing the rules would definitely be far more preferable to going in blind. Though he'd probably have to teach the other paladins on the spot if they were to play one of the games that he knew]

I'll have to write down the rules for some to make sure I am explaining them the best way.

Writing them down? You're a very clear speaker, I imagine you explain things just as clearly. Are your games that complicated?

Louder? Yes, that would be true as well. At least two of them seem to be quite loud and boisterous.

It has been since I have played some of the games. It would be a good refresher to remember the rules if I write them down first. Also if one of you wants the rules for later.

[To be fair, Hunk has left them, Shiro realizes. So Ulaz hasn't been exposed to him as much. Poor Ulaz, living this nice illusion...

Shiro's face falls a bit when Ulaz says he hasn't played in a while - of course he hasn't, he should've thought of that.]

At least two. Those two stand out more than the others. I have no doubt that the others can be as well.

[He'll wait and see for himself on the last two. They hadn't stood out as much on the castle ship and then here, being overshadowed by a certain two others.

Of course it had been a while. Even barring that he could play some of them by himself, others he couldn't and playing games by yourself eventually got boring]

[Because he's sure it'll go to their egos, especially Lance's, who loves attention. But aww, look how nice and social Ulaz is being, accepting to share like that. Just in case though--]

We'd love to learn more about the real Galra culture, and you willing to share means a lot. But only if you want to, alright? Don't feel obliged to just because we did it first.
