is this thing on
Who: Chrom and whoever!
Broadcast: Yes
Action: SS Starstruck
When: After shuffle
[action; Starstruck]
[Like all new passengers, Chrom appears quite suddenly, this time while he'd been leaning against something. He yelps, stumbles, and proceeds not only to knock over a chair but also the table with the pudding on it. Two seconds on his new ship and he's already breaking everything in sight. Great.
He dusts off the confetti as best he can and tries to step out of the mess.]
Ah, sorry! I'll clean that up!
[Still no sword. He's going to have to ask about that. He carefully pulls the furniture back upright and wonders where he might find a mop...
Wait. He should figure out where he is first.]
-----
[Later on, after he's settled in and figured out how to (mostly) function, he decides to try out the communicator. His 'job' on here is supposed to be a communications officer, whatever that means. He's surprised to find that the communication devices are familiar to him-- but maybe he shouldn't be. Something to do with whatever they did to him.
He takes a breath and steadies himself, then begins to broadcast. He's in a recognizably-plain officer's quarters, as he hasn't been around here long enough to personalize it yet.]
Hello everyone. I'm... assuming there's more people out there, since there are a lot of ships outside the window. [Ahem.] My name is Chrom. It's nice to meet you all, I just wish it were under better circumstances.
I got here a few days ago but I can't say this makes any more sense the longer I'm here. Mysterious, all-powerful captors? Stuff in our heads that wasn't there before? Floating in the stars? It's a little hard to swallow.
[He can't be the only one here with family he's worried about.]
It might be a long shot, but I have to ask: is there any way to check up on people at home? [His family, his people, his country needs him, but he can't do anything about his position right now. As always he hears the voice of reason as Emm, gentle and calming.] ... I need to make sure they're okay.

Ah well, she'll think about it later. Right now, she's gotta help this poor fellow out!]
I don't know but just think of what they'll say if they know we're stuck here! I bet they'll be pretty jealous of us!
Jealous? Sorry, I don't quite follow...
[This girl can't be much older than Ricken. Who is taking care of her...?]
[Everyone except Mabel, of course]
[He rubs idly at his bare shoulder, where his birthmark is.]
... Honestly, I'm all about exploring new frontiers and such, but I have a family and a kingdom to get back to. It sounds like it might not be an option, though. At least not yet.
[Wait, HOLD UP THERE!]
Whoa, time out, time out! Did you just say kingdom?! [GASP!] You're not some kind of king, are you?
[What have you done??]
action;
Hey, are you okay? Looks like that was a fun tumble.
no subject
I'm fine! Just a little clumsy.
[He rubs at the back of his neck.]
I'm Chrom. I guess I'm staying here now. Should I report to your captain first...?
no subject
[She's not sure if he'll find that reassuring or not, but you kind of have to get used to Peggy sooner or later if you're gonna survive on this ship.
She wanders over to a console to poke at some commands, and a few seconds later a little painted maintenance roomba rolls in to suck up the confetti.]
Nice to meet you, though. I'm Uraraka Ochako.
Bridge
Hey. Welcome to the Startstruck.
no subject
Ah, thanks! Sorry about the mess. I'm Chrom. I think I'm your new communications officer, though I confess I'm still not entirely sure what I'm doing...
Is this one of the ships I saw outside, then?
no subject
[She takes another sip from her coffee, then sets it on the console and stands, walking over and crossing her arms - prosthetic over flesh - and while she's not necessarily trying to be intimidating, she's not exactly exuuding a 'puppies and rainbows' kind of vibe.]
Comms officer, huh? [She holds out her right hand - the flesh one - in greeting.] Pilot. I make sure we don't crash, although most of the time these things are just fine on auto.
guess who! also, video
[Especially when that familiar face is family.]
Father? Father, it's you!
[This is a lot to process, and it's going to take him a few moments. There are so many people he needs to tell.]
What ship are you on? Man, Lucina's gonna be so glad to see you.
[And, after a moment, once he stops running at a mile a minute...]
Is Mother with you?
sorry this took so freaking long ;_; i got sick + moving hell
Morgan! [PHEW.] You look unharmed. That's a huge relief.
I'm on the Starstruck. If you know how to leave your ship, then by all means-- wait, Lucina's here, too? Thank the gods you're both safe! And that you can both depend on each other.
Though... I still haven't found your mother. [A pause.] I mean, I did find her, but then I woke up here.
[He's somewhat vexed about that. What kind of man loses his wife this many times?!]
no problem! o7 it happens
[Turns out, Death is a pretty cool dude and a lot of aliens are really chill.]
I'm on the Caprine, but I can take a shuttle over to meet you. I haven't been on the Starstruck yet.
[Morgan frowns, although it only lasts a second. At least Mother was found back home, that's what's most important.]
Aww, I'm sure she'll show up, eventually. After all, we're bound together by fate!
no subject
That might be best. I'm not even sure where the shuttles are. [a pause] Or why I suddenly know what they are. That must be part of the... thing in my head?
[One day they'll be a proper family again. One day soon. After a second, he smiles right back-- soft and warm and genuinely relieved that his son is okay.]
Right. We'll find her-- I promise. [And they'll find a way out of this damnable situation, too.]
no subject
[Morgan pauses. The augments didn't give them the knowledge of the layout of the ships, but they were all pretty small.]
Your crewmates should be able to tell you where the shuttles are.
[And then Morgan smiles. As painful as it is not to have Mother here, it's still reassuring to have the rest of his family. No matter what happens, they won't be separated, and they won't be alone.]
Yeah! And we'll work hard here, too. When we find her, we can show her everything we've learned!
video
FATHER! I... you're okay. Morgan and I are fine. We're on different ships, but we... we're here.
no subject
Lucina! Oh, Lucina. [Relief floods his expression.] Thank the gods you're both safe... though I suppose I shouldn't have expected anything less.
I'm on the Starstruck. I can come see you, or we can meet somewhere. [His expression sobers a little.] I still haven't found your mother. I've been looking since I woke up on the other ship, the big one.
no subject
We've been looking out for one another. [As they do.]
The Starstruck... I don't know anyone there yet. I am on the Heron and Morgan is on the Caprine. The most likely meeting place would be the Iskault. It's the second largest ship in the Fleet and has most of the shops that we can frequent.
[Her face falls when he mentions her mother. She still is ashamed of herself for what she nearly did without talking to either Robin or Chrom first. She nearly invalidated her brother's existence!]
Mother isn't here as far as I know. It's just us.
no subject
[She's been through enough.]
The Iskaulit, huh... I think I know which one you're talking about. We can meet there as soon as I, er, figure out how to get off the ship.
[He sees her face fall, and he flinches like he wants to reach out and grab her shoulders. But all he can do is stroke the cool metal and plastic of the device in his hands. He suddenly hates these things, irrational as it might be, because he just wants to hold his baby girl.]
... I'm sorry I didn't bring her home yet. The only way I can make up for it is by bringing you two home with me this time. I'm going to do it, all right? That's a promise.
[The next time something tries to kidnap him while he's trying to bring his wife home, he'll punch that thing in the freaking face.]
I imagine she's having a scare of her own right now. I was talking to her, and that's the last thing I remember...
[ video ]
Hello, Chrom. It is a pleasure to meet you, my name is Lunafreya and I am the communications officer aboard the First Breath. Welcome to the Fleet.
[ She gives him a slight bow, before straightening. Her smile turns sympathetic, however. ]
Unfortunately, to answer your last question, no, as of right now there is no way to check on your loved ones at home. But you should know that time freezes in our respective home worlds once we arrive here. Whatever you left behind will remain so until you are able to return home once more.
sorry this is so late omfg
Well met, Lunafreya. [Talking through this thing is so weird. He understands how it works surprisingly well (?!) but it's still. Weird.] I'm supposed to serve in the same capacity, but aboard a different ship. I can't believe how busy it is out there. Are they all part of the same fleet?
[His expression falls as she answers his other question.]
I've heard of going back in time, but freezing it entirely? [Naga struggled as it was.] I can't imagine how much power that would take...
you're fine~ <3
But that's something for a later discussion. ]
You will find that communications can be extremely boring at times. Barring any true emergencies, of course. [ She looks and sounds a bit amused. She's fortunate enough to have Noctis to come and keep her entertained when he can, at least. ] They are indeed. It's fascinating, isn't it?
[ She notices his expression change... that's another feeling she understands extremely well, too. ]
I know not how much power it takes, but I know it to be true. I was here once before, and then I disappeared home for ten years. When I returned to my world, everything was as it was when I left. [ Panicked and rapidly getting darker and darker. ] I returned here after a ten year absence and was told that I was only gone a mere few months. I've no idea how that works or how to even begin explaining it.
no subject
[Wow. An incredible story, to be sure, but Chrom thinks she's telling the truth.]
By the gods... ten years. And time moved so slowly here as to not move at all...
[That sure is a thing.]
That gives me a little hope, though, inexplicable as it is. [He pauses for a moment.] I have a little girl, and a son on the way. I can't abandon them. Their mother would flay me alive for even considering it.
