[The video feed comes to life and a perhaps familiar face appears within. With a clearly practised hand, the device has been set up to give anyone watching a clear shot of Pidge's face, perfectly perched on the table and completely steady as a result. Pidge is the opposite of still or steady, though; there's constant movement, fidgeting, hands wringing together in anxiety, eyes darting every which way before finally settling on the camera.]

Okay, so-- I'm back here, I guess. In the Fleet. I don't know if the rest of my team is still here, but-- You guys know who you are, so if you're still here, just let me know. [There's a slight, thoughtful frown, and then a hand reaches up to quickly adjust Pidge's glasses before starting to make vague gestures.] I'm on the Bishop again, same room and everything. That should make finding me easier.

And to, well, everybody else- [Here Pidge straightens ever so slightly, and even offers a small, awkward smile.] Uh- Hi. I'm Pidge. What'd I miss?

Yeah. [War sucks.]

It's... kind of hard to say for sure right now. [She still doesn't fully trust Lotor, after all, but so far things seemed to be moving in a more positive direction.]

[Sokka's smile sobers, he nods. ]

I can understand that. Sometimes...well, stuff takes time to work out. It can all be up in the air for a while.

[pidge_out]

Yeah. [Pidge's head tilts slightly, curiously.] Kind of sounds like you're familiar with situations like that.

[alwayscomeback]

Oh yeah. I grew up in a world at war. I was part of the effort to bring peace, it's here now, but things are still...settling back into place. Everyone's known only war for a hundred years. It's taking a lot of adjustment.

[pidge_out]

[She nods again.] Yeah. The Princess is doing a great job, but there's still a lot left to do back home. It'll be a long while before we see any real changes.

[alwayscomeback]

But at least there's light at the end of the tunnel, and that's what matters. You can step forward.

[pidge_out]

Hopefully. And if this thing they're trying works out, then... Yeah.

Ooooh, can you tell me what kind of thing it is, or is it top secret?

[pidge_out]

Actually... [And here she pauses to ruffle her hair a bit, a thoughtful, almost confused look on her face.] Even I don't really understand it. Allura's kind of chasing after a legend to see if it'll help create a lasting peace.

[alwayscomeback]

[There's a considerable pause. ]

....Yeah you know, sometimes I genuinely think our worlds are legit parallels of one another, 'cause Aang pretty much did that.

[pidge_out]

[Pidge smirks slightly, playfully rolling her eyes.]

Except your world has that whole... magical control of the elements thing going, right? We definitely don't have that.

[alwayscomeback]

[He chuckles, nodding.]

We do have that. But we don't have space lions so I guess that makes us even.

[pidge_out]

That's just tech. You might still develop that in your future.

[alwayscomeback]

True, I'm pretty sure Korra had more tech in her time- I mean, no space lions or anything, but more than what I have in my lifetime.

[pidge_out]

Wait- Who's Korra?

[alwayscomeback]

Oh, that's right, you hadn't arrived while she was here. She is...uh will be from my future. Like, we're all really old in her time. Super old.

[He has a bad feeling that he's also super dead, but Korra never talked about it and he didn't dare push the subject. You can't unlearn what you've learned. ]

[pidge_out]

[Pidge blinks. Her eyes seem to go just a little bit wider.]

Was that not dangerous? Sharing information from the future with people from the past?

[alwayscomeback]

That's what I was worried about- which is why I never asked her to go into too much personal detail. Just in case it...messed something up.

[He shrugs. ]

I mean, we don't remember this place, but best not take chances, right?

[pidge_out]

Yeah... [That's part of why she's so out of sorts upon coming back.]

...You don't happen to know why that happens, do you?

[alwayscomeback]

Why we forget stuff?

[He shrugs, the best he can do is guess, based on what he's experienced so far. ]

I'd say the augments, probably. They've definitely played with our memories before - makes sense they can do it when they send us home, too. It'd stop us raising the alarm- maybe sending out recuse missions.

[pidge_out]

When we go home and when we come back, yeah...

[Pidge scowls, looking offscreen with a mental curse.] That makes sense. Stupid implants. We can't even try to figure out how they work.

[alwayscomeback]

That's the most frustrating part, right? We know they're there, we know they can do whatever they want to us with them, but we can't even figure out a way to protect ourselves from them.
