[The parties may have ended in most of the system, but at least in one corner, as the silver confetti and plastic cups are being swept up, it continues. This time it's not in celebration of the games but something - or someone - a little more personal to some of the members of the fleet. After all, Felix had promised, in a way.

A brief text message will be sent out the fleet]

There will be a celebration this evening in memory of our friend Lumiere, who has since departed the fleet. Regardless of whether you knew him, come enjoy yourself as I'm sure he would have wanted.

[The coordinates that follow lead to a small lounge-like venue near the beach in the Brightbirds territory. The main room is bright and cozy, hosting the featured entertainment for the night, orange-skinned men and women dancers in flowing, feathered, revealing garments who make sinuous circles around the room. Musicians with guitar-like instruments and drums play throughout the night, to accompany the dancers.

On the patio there is a buffet full of small finger foods like skewers of meat and candied fruits and various other decadently simple dishes. The bar is also nearby - though the drinks aren't free, they are available at a discount for the evening.

If you want a little more quiet, the patio leads directly out onto the beach, which is also set with small cushions and tables for you to enjoy your food and drink while you listen to the waves and the distant city lights reflected in the water]

[The day after partying and she's lucky she doesn't have a hangover because it turns out there's another party. How could she miss one dedicated to her friend, Lumy? She's definitely not drinking today. Besides, everyone's sure she needs to be carried home the moment she starts. Geez.

But there will be eating! She is here for skewers. Skewers upon skewers! She watches the dancers and takes mental notes. Time on the beach is a must since they probably won't be here much longer. She also roams around, ready to talk to whomever she runs into whether they look up for it or like they're trying very hard to hold up a wall.]

[Vash knew who Lumiere was, but had never really talked to him very often. He's here because Kitty asked if he would come. More than that he was surprised that even sober she still was serious about trying this dating thing with him.

So Vash finds himself in a position he hasn't been in for awhile: Completely and utterly out of his element.]

So, do you think Lumiere would have approved of this party?

[For what it's worth, she is a little more nervous about it without the alcohol. A little more in her head. But it was important to her that if nothing else he doesn't think he's just a consistent drunk mistake she's making. He can be an all-weather sort of mistake!]

He might have preferred a few more beautiful women, but yeah, I think he would have. He would have liked a celebration over mourning.

Inside

[Felix is less obtrusive than he was at his last party - part reflex to how the last one had ended and partly because this was for Lumiere and not himself. He lets the party do the talking for him, fading to the edges. He spends much of the evening inside, lounging in almost cat-like fashion on the plush couches as he sips wine and watches the dancers with hooded eyes and a thin smile.

If he catches the eye of anyone from the fleet, he gestures towards the empty space next to him]

Outside

[It's secretly ironic that Felix has chosen such a location, though it had been partly convenience due to his connections with the Brightbirds, but he's come to have a strange sort of stalemate with his relationship with the ocean. Namely, he still prefers to be nowhere near it or in, but looking at it from a distance and appreciating it is just fine. He no longer feels overwhelmed by it, which is the best he can likely hope for.

So when he needs a little air, he steps out, swiping some fruit from the buffet, and goes to stand at the edge of the patio and look out at the waves. Still a good distance across the white sand, but close enough for his taste. Enough to feel the breeze and look at the stars and silently hope this was a fitting enough send-off]

[Don't worry Kitty, Felix will handle the drinking part. He's hardly ever without a glass of something or other in his hand during the night, though that requires frequent trips from his seat to the bar, which also takes him past the buffet table]

Hello~ [He only registers her as 'from the fleet' but her name escapes him. He hands his empty glass to the bartender and leans against the counter as he waits] I'm glad you could make it...short notice though this may have been. Were you a friend of Lumiere's or merely a fan of free food? I won't hold judgement if it's the latter.

[She feels fairly certain she's seen him in the library. She frequents it fairly regularly and maybe Malum? But she can't even think of what his name might be. Still she smiles.]

Lumiere was a good friend, but I'd hate to have to choose between him and food. My heart is big enough for both. [Little smirk.]

Are you the one who set this up?

More beautiful women? But I don't think he could top the women who are already here in terms of beauty. [Said with a coy smile. Meaning that there couldn't be anyone more beautiful here because Kitty is already here.]

Okay, as far as flattery goes that's not bad. I'll give it a six. [She shoots him a playful, teasing smile.]

A six out of five? [Asked with a wink and a grin.]

[She shakes her head, amused.] Never tell anyone your scale.

[He smiles cockily.] It's a six out of five!

[passingthrough]

[She just shakes her head at him in amusement.] Food first or relaxing on the beach?

[He smiles brightly] I'm glad to hear it.

I am, yes, and hopefully he'd have approved of the efforts, short notice though it was. We spoke on more than one occasion about the possibility of putting on something a little more grand aboard the fleet, but we never quite got the chance.

Oooh. A tough choice, but I usually always choose food first. We could take some food out onto the beach and relax with food! [He's basically choosing both.]

Good call. [She aims them toward the buffet.] It's be nice to eat like this all the time. [Beats protein gels when fresh supplies run thin.]

I guess in a place like this you just have to really jump in and get things done when the mood strikes or the moment can pass. [Not just from lack of mood but from changes in circumstance like someone being gone. Or being attacked by cannibals or whatever.] I wouldn't know this was short notice though. It looks great.

( Sansa has a gift for one Mr. Felix Harrowgate, a delicately made lemon cake with candied violets atop it. She'd stolen one from a party he'd given not so long ago and it had been outside her character; she wants to make amends for it. She brings the dish to him inside and hopes no one else can see. )

I need to make up for something I stole from you once. I'm sorry about that. Will you accept this and hear my apology?

How many forms do you think I would have to put in to get an machine that makes endless donuts on the ship?

[She picks up a plate and then showers it liberally with skewers and other dishes—especially anything sweet, but she takes a variety. Not the picky type.] Oh, at least ten and a half forms and several payments.

[Vash also grabs a plate and puts a little bit of everything onto it. Literally, everything. There is nothing that doesn't end up on his plate.] And even then it will probably be installed on the outside where I can't reach it.

Wow, that is a dark prediction. [Plates full, she guides him outside to a spot on the beach with some cushions and tables.] Just hot, fresh donuts floating in the void of space.

True in reality and moreso here, yes.

[He glances around the room, trying to not look as pleased with the praise as he actually is]

Thank you. A few connections with my faction of choice went a long way, it turns out.

Nice. Maybe I should have tried playing along for something like that. [She stayed pretty firmly neutral on the whole factions and games thing the whole time. She actually loves some sports and competitions in general, but she couldn't get into the spirit of it all.] I guess I'll just have to reap the benefits of you doing so.

[The change in his demeanor is instant, like clouds over the sun, his relaxed smile fading, his posture stiffening, and his eyebrow arching. This isn't at all what he expected. Not the person nor the peace offering - as it surely was meant to be. If it was her, and not an attempt to cover for an accomplice, then it was entirely likely she could have denied her role as the thief without any reprecussion. Still, the anger he'd felt that day bubbles to the surface, wanting to lash out at the person that had caused it in the first place, as if no time at all had elapsed. Years ago, he might have made much of an effort to hold it back, but refuses to give it a hold on him.

His jaw clenches for a moment but he holds out a hand]

I will.

Heartbreaking. Truly heartbreaking. [Once they're both settled on the cushions with their foods he looks out at the ocean. It doesn't matter how often he's been gifted the chance to see an ocean now. The view never stops amazing him. So much water. What the people of his world wouldn't give for even a sliver of that water.]

So, we're really going to try this?

[Thinking of home has lead his mind back to those people he's left behind and the promises that he's made. If they were going to give a relationship a try there are certain things he was going to need to come clean on.]
