Don't Dead, Open Inside || Action

Who: Carl Grimes, a bunch of zombies, and you
Broadcast: kinda?
Action: Waystation
When: Right now

(( ooc: This is a blanket content warning for blood/gore/death. So! There are zombies ahead and you’ve found yourself on the waystation! You have two options: evacuate, or fight them off. Things of note to remember: Being bitten or scratched are the easiest ways for infection. We don’t suggest being eaten. Magic will be hit or miss depending on player preference/discretion. Characters who become zombies will be treated as in-character deaths. Standard rules apply! The event will last a total of 24 hours. Have fun, and enjoy all the undead things. If there are any questions or anything at all, feel free to pm this journal or hit me up at [plurk.com profile] skorozima. ))

[ The Fleet has been floating along its predetermined path for the past few days, getting further and further away from the Yadrolla System and toward unknown territory. Along the way, those oh-so convenient waystations continue to pop up at their usual intervals. Identical in every way to every other, boring waystation. Neat, right? There are even some of those familiar orange-skinned aliens and some human travelers milling about and generally minding their own business. It’s a good place to stretch your legs, get sodas of questionable flavor, and take those nifty new pets for a walk!

Interrupting the general peace of the waystation, a shrill siren starts, and a robotic voice comes over the intercom as well as all communication devices on the station and surrounding spacecraft, repeating a monotone message. ]

ATTENTION. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. LOCKDOWN IMMINENT. ATTENTION. THIS IS AN EMERGENCY. CALMLY EVACUATE USING THE NEAREST EXIT. LOCKDOWN IMMINENT..

[ Soon, it becomes apparent to those on the waystation what the emergency is. A gaggle? A murder??? Just.. a lot of undead. They’re not in any particular hurry, shambling and stumbling along.. until they spot what looks like some good eats. That seems to get them excited, arms stretching forward, teeth gnashing, and more growling than any sort of verbal mishmash meant to be words. THEY’RE NOT A WORDY PEOPLE, OKAY?

For those looking to escape, it’s quite easy to outrun them unless you’re not paying attention to your surroundings. Corners can be tough! Just don’t get bit or scratched and all is well, except for their incessant attempts at making you a snack. For those who haven’t come across them before, or have run into some variation of them in another world, they’re resilient up to the point of losing their head or the brain being destroyed. Limbs being broken or missing don’t seem to slow them down, just send them a little off-balance.

All they know is attack and eat.

For those of the fleet still on their ships, they gravitate around the waystation, seemingly not wanting to go anywhere. There is a short window of time from the emergency alert to the entire waystation going on lockdown. Those wishing to help evacuate can do so- but they have to be quick!

Once the lockdown is in place, communication ceases with the waystation. All the rest of the fleet can do is sit and wait, and hope for the best. The doors will re-open twenty-four hours later, once it’s clear the situation is handled and they can regroup, count their losses, and wait once again for the perished to rejoin their ranks. ]

[It's not that big of a way station. It probably won't take too long for Sam to find Manji as he exits a bathroom. Hard to say if the blood stains on his black and white kimono are from zombies or something else. The man himself at least seems completely unharmed.

He purposely stands in the way of that door as he quickly shuts it behind him. Although not fast enough to completely hide that large pool of blood he just couldn't clean up from the floor if Sam is quick enough to notice it.]
Sam, right?

[The face looked right for the person he saw on the communicator his first day here.] Taller than I expected. [Manji's voice may be surprisingly calm for a man in the middle of a zombie attack.]

[Yeah, well, Sam was pretty calm in the middle of the zombie outbreak until hell memories smacked in right in the face and filled him with torture and misery. He shakes it off, though, and looks down at the scarred figure. Oh, yeah, he's familiar.

And while he takes note of the blood, he doesn't quite jump the gun yet.

He really doesn't want to; there's blood everywhere, after all.

Instead Sam collects himself and asks bluntly:]

Have you been on your own all this time?

[He didn't answer his question about being Sam, but Manji is sure enough that he's got the right guy.]

No. I was with Katie. [A beat.] She's dead.

[The how doesn't seem to be important and he doesn't bother to sugar coat it.] She asked me to tell you to look after her cat and dolls.

[He's also standing steadfast in the way of that door.]

[Part of him wants to clock the guy for having the subtlety of a rock thrown at someone's face — but another part of him appreciates the forwardness. And oh, yeah, there goes his stomach, dropping into his feet. He had... felt something was off. But he didn't — want to think...

This isn't supposed to happen; Katie's strong.

(Didn't stop her from dying in Adstringendum, his mind reminds him.)

He swallows hard, expression grim, eyes flickering with emotion kept at bay. His jaw shifts, teeth gritting, and he breathes out.]

Bitten?
canofmanji: (Do I have something up my nose?)

[personal profile] canofmanji 2018-06-22 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
[Manji waits patiently. Expecting some sort of reaction to the news, but unsure just how badly it would be taken. He's impressed by Sam's reaction. Not that he shows or says anything abut it.]

Yeah, she was. Don't ask me how, I don't know that part. [A beat.] But she didn't turn into one of them at the end. [He saw to that.] She was still herself. [It may not matter to Sam as the end result was the same, but Manji respected Katie's strength to go before the madness overtook her so he thought it was important to mention.] I'm sorry.

[Well, at least he's trying.

Sam just stands there frozen for a moment, trying to keep himself together; she'll be back. She'll come back. Is it really her, though? Maybe there was some sort of mistake? But ha, that's sounding woefully like a lot of the victims he consoles. He glances towards the door, swallowing the lump in his throat.]

I know she was. She wouldn't have let it get that far.

[She'll be back, she'll wake up on the Marsiva, she'll be okay.

He glances toward the sword by Manji's side, expression weary and sad, but together. It's not his first rodeo, but it hurts all the same — and it'll never stop hurting, regardless of how much a hunter (a Winchester) can expect to lose those he cares about.]

You made it quick, right?
canofmanji: (Polite listening)

[personal profile] canofmanji 2018-06-24 10:48 am (UTC)(link)
[Manji was happy to see that Sam was handling this as well as one could hope. It was making it a bit easier on him at least.]

As quick as I could. She didn't suffer. [Very rarely does it come up for Manji that someone at the other end of the blade being glad that he was so good at what he does. He almost adds that he made sure she wouldn't get back up, but thinks better of it.]

[personal profile] collegedropout 2018-06-26 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[He dips his chin a little, quiet suffering on his expression for a moment.

Just a moment, though; this situation can't call for him to be anything less than a hunter. He tries to logically approach this, remind himself that he can't exactly move the body somewhere safely. There's no reason for a pyre; she'll come back. He knows she will (she has to). There's no reason to threaten getting infected, because that will compromise those still alive. The only reason he even plans to see the body is to have all the facts—

You know. In the case that she returns and tells him you just murdered her in cold blood.

He glances at Manji.]

Thank you.

You should — probably get out of here.
canofmanji: (Do I have something up my nose?)

[personal profile] canofmanji 2018-06-26 10:16 pm (UTC)(link)
You should too. [He stands steadfast in front of that door. Maybe if he knew how much death Sam had seen over his life he wouldn't bother.

He's also not one to completely hide away the darkness the world had to offer.]
You don't want to go in there. [He's seen what can happen to people who've seen the people they care about beheaded.] What you see in there will stick with ya more than any other memory.

[It's his final warning. If Sam really wants to see he'll move out of the way after that.]
collegedropout: (pic#9960496)

[personal profile] collegedropout 2018-06-29 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Nobody would want to go in there. But it's not about what I want.

[He meets the man's eye without hesitation.

He looks tired, but sure.]

I'm used to making this kind of choice.
canofmanji: (Polite listening)

[personal profile] canofmanji 2018-06-29 06:01 am (UTC)(link)
Alright then. [He gives a lazy one shoulder shrug as he steps away from the door. Sam can't say he didn't warn him.

Manji moves to leave if Sam doesn't try to stop him for any reason. He's sees no reason to linger. Doesn't even think about someone possibly wanting company in a time like this.]
I'll see you around.

[His way of saying Sam can come find him if there is anything he thinks looks suspicious. Manji's sure he won't, but he's not afraid of retribution if Sam really wants to try and enact some.]
