I hope someone fed Da'Fen.

[ This is awkward. How do you say 'hello, I died but now I'm back' to a fleet of people? She's never really been through all of this before. Almost dying isn't the same as actually dying, apparently. ]

That wasn't fun. I don't recommend it, if anyone was curious.

Whoever they are, it must be someone epic with a name like that!

[ Screw texting, Dorian is going to go right for audio. After everything that happened, he's been in a vicious cycle of drinking and fretting and making rather...influenced decisions. If what Bull said is right, maybe she won't turn him away.. ]

..Leilani? [ His voice is carefully controlled, but she knows him better than anyone, she may be able to hear the slight hesitation in calling her name gently. ]

[ that is the CUTEST response ever ]

Dorian. [ There's the same hesitation in her own voice, but... She can't deny how happy she is to hear his voice again. She doesn't really know what to do or say, but she swallows back her tension and her uncertainty, forcing herself into some kind of measure of calm. ] Fancy hearing you around here.

Fasta vass.. [ The curse is muttered in surprise. He's heard vaguely about people coming back, but he didn't put much stock into it. When people came back, they were usually undead, or worse.. This opens an entirely new can of worms that he's not ready for, but is so relieved by its existence that he will unpack this later. ]

I could say much the same thing about you.

[ She knows they're going to have to talk properly at some point, but she doesn't have the energy. She's tired - exhausted, actually - and she's missing an arm with some brand new scars to go with it.

People keep trying to keep me down and it doesn't work. You think they'd learn.

One would think, yes. [ There is a pregnant pause before he takes a breath. ]

Leilani, I-- [ Another pause as he considers what he wants to say. He sighs. ]

..was a terrible ass to you. Something that you did not entirely deserve. [ Entirely. She deserved some of it, okay? He chose his words carefully. ]

Maybe it's a hard lesson.

[ Oh.

She supposes they are doing this now. Leilani shifts, curling up under her blanket, tugging it over her head. Her voice sounds a little bit muffled and a lot sad. ]

There's no need. I deserved it, Dorian, and I should've listened. You were - are - right.

..Not a phrase heard often, though one that is always appreciated.

[ He does wish they could do this in person, but the fact that she's talking to him makes him terribly happy, and he's certain he owes Bull something. ]

I should not take out my own frustrations on one of the only friends I have.

[ She stops herself. She might be well aware that she's not Dorian's only friend, or one of few, but she knows his own messy complicated feelings about friendship. All Leilani can do is bury her face in her pillow, mumbling. ]
