So in two days I'm turning ... I think it's twenty four! [Even if she looks eternally twenty, but hey, it's a good age for a cute girl to be stuck at. She can tell herself that, anyway.] And unlike last year, I'm at least stuck in a place I can celebrate it.

So barring us all getting trapped in each other's heads again, in two days' time I'm throwing a party by the Iskaulit's pool, because I'm tired of running events in the bar and this planet doesn't look like a wise choice for idiots to get drunk down below. Please come. Bring yourselves, bring a bathing suit, bring whatever. I'll set up a little mini bar and everything!

[She's been busy down here lately. Has a whole vegetable patch going and everything and her turnover is slowly getting healthier as she gets more practised at it. She never had a problem with the mikan trees, though. From seeds to saplings to-- Asteffiel helped them along right at the start, but all the same.

You can find her with a basket, gently cutting down the fruit that's ripe enough, and trying not to let her mood sink. She was never meant to be here long enough for a handful of seeds to become fully grown trees. Please offer her a distraction.]

There's a decent bar attached to the hotel I'm staying at. I've noticed most places like that are set as close to the middle of the islands as possible.

[Smart, really. Saves people from pitching over the edge too close to their watering holes.]

Glad to hear it! What do you usually do for birthdays where you're from?

It depends on where we are at the time! My captain would take any excuse to have a party, though, so-- if we're out at sea, it gets pretty rowdy. [Truth be known, she only started celebrating hers a few years ago, so she just likes to make up for lost time.]

What about you?

Well, we do not really mark our age that closely in Asgard, but for important ones we hold feasts.

[Every hundred years or so.]

...oh right. I guess you probably live for centuries or something. [At least. Gods. She thought the elves were bad.] What do you consider important ones? Do you have a... I don't know, coming of age or anything?

We do, yes. I was about eight hundred when I had mine. We mark centuries more than years or decades, though of course we see the seasons pass each year.

[YEP. Gods are elves in disguise.]

I guess humans celebrating yearly must seem odd. How old are you?

Well, it's kind of like celebrating the new year? We do that yearly, so I imagine it's similar. [That's his guess, anyway. For a human it would be more akin to throwing a party every time the sun came up.] I have lived with humans for a while now though. I know what birthdays are like.

I'm fifteen-hundred years old.

[...she knows humans who'd do that if they could get away with it.]

Oh, is that all. How long have you lived with humans for?

[That's a better reaction than most, even if it is sarcastic.]

Oh, only for a couple of years. I lived on Earth for a short time and I was staying with my friends and-- [Ex-girlfriend.] another close friend. I had to leave two years ago though to take care of some business elsewhere in the universe.

Oh, you're from one of the Earth universes. You keep a low profile while you were there?

Not at all. I'm well known for saving the planet a couple of times. Many of Earth had already heard of me through their own myths as well.

[That just made them more incredulous and more interested, in his experience.]

I've noticed some myths and legends seem cross-universal, actually.

[She hesitates.] I'm pretty sure there's tales about you in my world, too. I haven't heard them, but I'd heard your name before.

I'm not surprised. I'm well known on a lot of worlds, even other versions of Earth.

Earth versions tend to have a lot of overlapping similarities. I wouldn't be surprised if you were known on each and every one of them. [Grin.] You must be pretty popular.

Oh, I am. [He has zero qualms with talking about how popular he is.] Comes with the territory.
