Who: Vash and you
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: On the planet
When: Late night on July 21st
[It was the same thing every year around the anniversary. Bad memories leading to night terrors and while he rarely remembers them thanks to the combination of Katie's dream catcher and allowing Baku to eat his dreams; they still make it hard to fall asleep. The city of lost July. Gone in an instant and all because of him.
Maybe that's why he was so quick to offer to help a distraught mother find her daughter who had run off into the mist instead of going to a bar like he had planned. Wanting to help someone rather then thinking of all the death this day meant to him.
Of course, it wasn't suppose to go like this.
A very young alien girl with orange skin is suddenly appearing on Vash's communication device. She's wearing a mask that is clearly too big for her. In fact some may recognize it as the mask that Vash has been wearing when going into the mist. Only, where is the gunslinger? Oh, that's probably him screaming in the background.]
Please, can anyone hear me? [She sounds close to tears.] I need hel--
I TOLD YOU TO GET AWAY FROM ME! [Vash's voice breaks through her plea. It's a mix of angry and terrified as the girl screams in shock. She drops the communication device and as it falls you can catch a quick glance at Vash's arm at the start of it's transformation. Along with a bright light right before the feed cuts out.]
(OOC: Vash will be responding to voice! Or your character can come find him out in the mist! Just look for the bright light! WARNING! If tagging in with action please be aware along with his current glitch there will be hallucinations that have to do with/will talk about death! If you do not want the hallucinations please mention so in your tag!)

His face is slick with sweat from the effort of keeping the glitch from exploding. He looks uncertain with each of her questions asked.]
I-- I... [He wants to say yes, but there is just one problem-] You don't know what I am! You should get away from me!

[She glances around to see if Rem is nearby. It's such a beautiful echo, and someone Vash obviously loved. Should she...?]
no subject
No. [But she wasn't about to blow up an island now was she?] Can you... [He grunts painfully.] Negate someone's powers? [At least he's trying to make jokes?]
no subject
Why would I want to negate your power when you're perfectly capable of getting this under control yourself?
[A flick of her hand, and Legato's gone again. She can only do that a few times. She could solve the problem by flickering Vash out of the mist, but that would also involve putting him in a much more crowded place. Not wise. Not yet.]

Her unheard words of encouragement to Vash are abandoned so that she can speak to Katie. Who will at least hear her.] He can hold it back. He can. [She believes in him.] It will pass. He just needs to hold on. Please, don't let him give up!
[Vash ignores all this by groaning painfully under the strain of holding back so much raw power.] Because I can't! Run away! Please! Don't make me hurt you! Gah-!

[She hears you, Rem. Gently:]
Aren't you strong, Vash? To have lived through so much and still have a smile? Aren't there people you want to make proud of you? Don't give up on them. Don't give up on yourself.

[Rem shakes her head.] He has no reason to be sorry. I know he's doing his best. [The echo squeezes his shoulder in a way he can't feel.]
no subject
You have no reason to be sorry. You're doing your best. [Well-- you would be, if you weren't letting the mist get to you.]
Do your thoughts of no killing extend to yourself? I assume your own death is one you'd rather avoid.
no subject
[He should know better and that she likely has magic enough to keep her safe or him at a distance. The problem is that he's a bit distracted so he doesn't give that much thought.] So just, get AWAY!
[Rem tries in vain again to touch him in a way that he'll feel.] Killing may not be a good topic for discussion or distraction.
[It certainly wasn't as Legato tries to come rushing back with that extra spike of fear from Vash feeds the mist.]

Quit your whining.

Vash is completely taken by surprised as the mask is slammed onto his face. Surprised by being touched, surprised that she came back, surprised as the air he's breathing is suddenly clear of mist. Rem pumps her arm in excited victory.]
That's perfect, Katie! Great idea!
[It won't instantly fix the problem as the mist that is already in his system needs to be cleared out first. Still, it won't be too much longer before his breathing becomes a bit more regular and his pupils start to shrink back to proper size.]
no subject
Can we dispense with can't, now?
no subject
Katie will know the moment it happens as his arm shrinks back down to it's proper size and shape. His silver revolver drops from his hand as the mutation vanishes. It's normal casing has been torn away revealing a floating cylinder that's usually hidden inside it. At first it holds the same glow that Vash's arm gave off before dimming back to black the moment Vash lets it go.]
Katie-- [He's out of breath and exhausted.] --thank you.

Can you manage town?
no subject
But he thinks he can stay awake long enough to at least get back.]
no subject
Close your eyes and think of Oz.

[But if he doesn't want to close his eyes, whatever. She doesn't need him to in order to port them both into the middle of town, causing a bit of startlement. It's just less disorienting.]
no subject
Wha--?! [His eyes are telling him he just rapidly moved, but his body is telling him that he didn't. Give him a moment. He's tired, confused, and still trying to work out what is real and what's not. Was this real? Maybe if he holds still for a moment he'll figure that out.
Or at least hopefully not fall over.]
no subject
[Honestly. She's leaning against him now, and she's at the point where she'll abandon him to go sleep once she's sure he'll be okay.]
no subject
She is free to abandon if she wishes to. The startled town people are already starting to look and see that these two travelers look like they're in in need of help.] We're in town. The girl-- did the girl make it back? [And look! Vash is already distracted thinking of other things already!]
