video | wrong turn at albuquerque
Who: Vanyel Ashkevron & Anyone
Broadcast: Video, Fleet Wide
Action: SS Marsiva
When: After waking up & the week of April 12–18
[ Vanyel comes awake slowly, head pounding, feeling like he had just spent a week recovering from magic sickness, though at least he didn't feel the need to vomit. Blinking, he looks around the room, sitting up gingerly, clearly cautious. Looking down at himself, he's not surprised to see his Whites (which to anyone else would look medieval, a period costume), perfect and pristine, boots sitting at the end of the bed, polished within an inch of their life.
Over a series of long moments, those watching can see the realization dawn on his face that whatever he had been expecting, it was not this. Not the metal walls, or the sheets that covered him. Eyes dart around, trying to make sense of it all, lips set in a hard line. Vanyel suddenly stops, eyes glazing as if far away, his already pale skin paling further, hands shaking some in his lap, head hanging and his dark hair falling forward to shield his face. It takes several long moments for him to come out what could only be shock.
He swung his feet over the edge, reaching for his boots, tugging them on before standing. Clearly he has no idea his every move is being broadcasted. He sat there, rubbing his hands against his thighs. ]
It was to much to hope for, I suppose...
[ Another pause, gathering thoughts. ]
If anyone is there, my name is Vanyel Ashkevron.
[ Now why would he do that? Perhaps this has happened before? Or maybe he expects guards outside the door. Anything was truly possible. ]
And I would very much like to know where I am.

[ A soft smile is what she is given from this particular man. ]
You appear to be on board the SS Marsiva. Welcome.
Re: video.
[ Seeing someone's face like that, it is strange, but thankfully his time at the Castle had prepared him for dealing with such oddities. It made it easy to accept, even if he did not understand this strange magic. A scrying of some sort, perhaps.
He nodded to the woman in the screen, brushing the single streak of silver in his hair behind his ear. ]
Greetings. And thank you for the welcome, though I have no recollection of how I arrived.
video.
Not many do, I'm afraid, though you seem to have had an easier time than some.
Re: video.
Suffice to say this is not the first time I have stepped through a doorway and not ended up where I expected.
[ There's a small sigh on his end, the kind that comes when you know there is little to do but accept things and go with the flow. ]
Now the real question is what exactly we have all been taken for.
video.
[ Which is interesting, and Solas is... Curious. But he holds his tongue for now. ]
Entertainment. There are people watching us and judging how interesting we are.
Re: video.
I think many of us here do.
[ His brow scrunches at that explanation, only ever so slightly, but the shadows are there, his lips pulling down slightly at the corners. Vanyel would never outright scowl, after all. ]
And should they find us lacking?
[ Were they jettisoned? Sent home? Punished? ]
video.
[ Honestly... Solas shakes his head, absent and unsure. ]
I've never been told.
Re: video.
[ That wasn't ominous, now was it? He only hoped he never had cause to find out. ]
Let us hope none of us give them cause to show us.
[ He ran his hands through his hair, tucking it behind his ear - a nervous gesture, clearly, pausing when he felt the bump on the back of his neck where his augments went. ]
What door did you step through, might I ask, to bring you here?
video.
[ He watches, curious and thinking, before he shakes his head.
He would tell the truth, of course, but this is public and he still isn't sure about admitting his own timeline, and, so; ]
I don't quite recall, I'm afraid.
Re: video.
Ah, I see. Well, I doubt it would have helped anything, really. I never quite understood it in Paradisa, either. Some things shall remain a mystery, it seems.
video.
Re: video.
Ah, it is the world I was in before. A castle, that brought in many people from many worlds. We lived within its walls, though our true purpose was unknown. Many guessed were a source of sustenance for the Castle itself, but no one ever truly knew.
video.
[ And he does look very, very curious. ]
Fascinating.
Re: video.
Indeed, it is not. Before I resided in another place, a castle called Paradisa. It pulled from many worlds as well, though it's purpose was quite a bit different.
video.
[ He frowns, shaking his head. ]
I wonder how many places are like this.
Re: video.
I would rather not think about it. Bad enough to know there are two, much less consider the possibility of many more.
video.
Re: video.
Perhaps, though sometimes the residents of Paradisa would leave, only to return from their own worlds and time having passed. I might have ended up here, but I will maintain the hope that I am but a minority and the rest returned home.
video.
Re: video.
I was in Paradisa for three and some odd years. A few more here will hardly be felt.
[ The concept of being here for so long is only slightly more daunting, and just because it was all in space. ]
video.
[ He huffs, shaking his head. ]
I hope it's not so long for me.
Re: video.
Perhaps we shall chance upon it as the Fleet travels.
[ Unlikely, but a shred of hope was better than none. ]
