[Zack pauses for a few moments, surprised, before he offers up a rueful smile. Kind of him, but ultimately, not necessary. He's kind of flattered by Cloud's protective streak, even if it's just for the sake of Zack's theoretical morality.]

I know that. I just mean that it could've gotten bad if we'd ended up sticking around. I didn't choose to leave ShinRa- the decision was made for me. Knowing what I know now, it doesn't feel very noble.

You stood up to Sephiroth, the strongest SOLDIER there ever was, for some backwater town full of folks you didn't even know. [Sorry, Cloud's gonna be like a dog after a bone with this one, Zack.] I get what you're saying, but it's not fair of you to look at all the horrible crap that happened to you and look at how you failed during it. It's not right.

[Zack opens his mouth to respond, but stops to give it a moment's consideration. This is one of those things where they're not gonna agree on, isn't it? They could argue the whole day long but they're both too damned stubborn to budge.

Just... gonna file this one away for a "maybe later". He's in a weird mood today and he doesn't want a big fight to turn it sour.]
