Who: George Cooper and anyone checking the Network
Broadcast: Fleet-wide, Video
Action: SS Golden
When: After the Shuffle
[There's a short pause after video comes up onto George's upper body, seated, the moment where he's working out if this is how it's meant to be, if it's correct, if this is how it works. And then he smiles warmly at... Well, the people? Those he seems to think are listening. It's like scrying, if he'd the Gift for that.]
I can't say I'd been expectin' to wake up to such a thing today, or for as long as I've been alive, but I'm beginnin' to accustom myself to the notion.
[His voice is lowerclass, a sort of faux-brit-possible-londoner-something but it's clear anyway, understandable. Medieval fantasy people.]
I'm George Cooper, newly of the SS Golden, and new to anythin' like this, truth to tell. I was hopin' someone out there might be able to explain precisely what a reality show might be, and what they mean for us to do. Are we travellin' somewhere in particular or is it a jaunt for no particular reason? Whoever went fiddlin' about in my mind didn't see fit to explain how a Player might go about playin' to no one.
[He shrugs goodnaturedly. He might be playing up the dumb city boy angle a little bit, but he wants information, and the non-threatening approach is generally the best.]
Outside of that, it seems I've only just missed a good deal of excitement. Is everyone makin' their way alright after the attack? Ah, and that said, has anyone a record of the appearance of those who fired on us, or was it precluded by the chaos? Might be useful, knowin' what to look out for.
[ooc: info trawling tiiimmme and also bits of this second part got broadcasted as well without his say-so after he put this video up so. If you'd rather contact him over that, there it is.]

From what I understand, they use something like these communicators to record us, and show other people, and the other people enjoy watching us try to figure out what we're doing and live our lives.
To be honest, I haven't the faintest idea why it's at all entertaining, but here we are.
I'm Stephanie Amell, by the way. Of the Bishop.

An odd idea for somethin' to watch, I'd think. A story is best with the borin' bits left out, I'd think. That's what makes a play popular, a lack of hours speakin' on trivialities, or on sittin' quietly and thinkin'. Is it recordin' everywhere?

I'm not certain, but it seems likely. [ dryly ] I've been trying to avoid lathering myself for too long in the showers, just in case.
Video;
D'you think there'd be fits thrown if you put a sheet up about the shower before settin' up under it?
Video;
I may try a sheet, though, next time.

[Not entirely true. This system is a dream for a man who deals in information. But maybe not something he'd trawl through in his free time.]

As for where we're goin', not a damn idea. And the enemy fleet turned tail like a buncha yellow bellies 'fore we could take any hostage.

Did the ships look uniform, or were they a jumble, such as pirates might cobble together?

Didn't see 'nough of 'em up close t'say for sure. [ He snorts a short chuckle. ] Crew wasn't real keen on lettin' me get close with our ship. Somethin' 'bout it bein' dangerous.

There's that to mind, true enough. A pity, though, to have no idea who did the attackin'. There's not much to take from these ships aside from human cargo, and that's a risk to take on a group so large. [A pause, and then he adds:] It made for a good enough show, on that side of things.

[ Wryly, ] Imagine it was a real humdinger. Wouldn't know, was too busy gettin' fuckin' shot at to pay attention.

[ He thinks, anyway. The past couple years are a bit... fuzzy in his head. ]

What d'you mean by "medieval"?

[ They're a little more likely to go on a dragon hunt than modern people are, after all. ]

[She has no idea. Actually, she's been wondering, too.]

I'm Stephanie Brown, on the First Breath. Welcome to the Fleet.

Though I think after the last time, the next time any ship we don't know shows up on radar, we're all going to know about it way before we can actually see them. Everyone's pretty jumpy now.

Could you? For my sake. Thrash about a bit, maybe curse whatever deity you stand by?

[He thinks about it a moment. He's never made a fuss over anything in his life, but there's the heart of a Player to any really good Rogue. He places the back of one hand across his brow and looks skywards.]
That it would come to this! Far from home and me only just startin' to relax again. O! Crooked God, I'm left assumin' I've been borin' you somehow, even with all the fuss there's been, as I can find no better reason for your allowin' my abduction. I only hope you're pleased with yourself.
[Hand off brow and he stops projecting dramatically. There you go, Hawke.]

Basically, they're going to try and stir up as much drama and excitement as possible for the audience that's watching us. Supposedly they can see us through what's called a camera, that transmits images of what we're doing to wherever they decide.
