Who: Gil
Broadcast: Open
Action: Blameless
When: After he wakes up
[Network]
[Gil is awake now, and kind of disturbed by the whole going unconscious for a bit. The network gets another poem. It's not entirely serious, because the Blameless hasn't totally made up their mind about the cargo yet, but Gil's okay with taking some creative liberty.]
There are many things one might call me
Some have even used to the title 'brainiac'
But one of the things that I know
Is that I'm also an insomniac
So imagine my laughable shock
At waking up three weeks late
And finding the world is different
And my crew's ready to take the bait
But I'm not one to complain
(Shush to all you who would call that a lie)
So let's crack it open and hope the inside
Doesn't force us to say good-bye
[Action - The Blameless]
[Despite his playful response to this whole thing the idea that he was out of it actually really irritates Gil. He went to sleep willingly for 600 years, he wasn't really planning on sleeping through life again.
He doesn't really seem irritated though. He seems more distracted than anything. He can be found in the engineering room once he wakes up and realizes what is going on. He runs basic checks and diagnostics, making sure that nothing has really changed the last few weeks, all the while mumbling to himself about all of the things that can go wrong on a ship if it has an engineer who sleeps on the job.]

The man will likely find that things are running just fine. After all, there are two engineers on this ship and Biffy's mate is one of them. He knows for a fact that Lyall would never allow anything to fall apart while on the job.
So when he trots into engineering, he tilts his head in confusion. Because why would things go wrong if they still have a perfectly fine engineer while Gil slept?]

He turns when the animal comes into the room and raises his brow.]
Did someone get a new pet while I was away?
no subject
No, Gil. In fact, he shakes his head too. No one got a new pet, alright?]
no subject
[Then, after a moment, it dawns on him] Oh. Right. Werewolves?
no subject
Yes. Werewolves. He's one of them right here.]
Action
But the ship is still up and running and nothing broke while he was on his own, so he counts this as a success.]
I have logged every happenstance with the machinery while you were... indisposed. Nothing special to report. Some extra maintenance after that joyride our dear Captain saw fit to undertake, but that's it, really.
no subject
Yeah, I know. And I don't want to seem like I don't trust you, yeah?
I just... I feel better making sure I'm up to speed on all of that stuff.
[A pause.] I hope me going all 'lalala' over it doesn't make me seem like an asshole?
no subject
[After all he hasn't been here very long. Maybe once they are more used to working together, it will be easier.]
Is there anything else that needs doing while I am here?
no subject
That's gotta be a trip, yeah? Most of this info got dumped into your head, didn't it? How does it feel to make use of it?
no subject
[Did you know, Gil? The werewolf is actually a science nerd!]
The way the machinery works here... so many of the scientists of my world are trying to come to exactly that result, but we are still far from it. So to see all of these things that are functional, some of which no one I know has ever even dreamed off? It is a fantastic opportunity.
I only wish I had more talent for it, as it is not my specialty originally. I'd love to see some of the schematics for those machines.
no subject
I can try to draw what I know up for you? The tech here's not what I'm used to be back home but a lot of the basic theories are the same.
Just, you know, without the mass effect fields. Which is still a wild trip for me because space travel's supposed to be impossible without it. [He may have forgotten that Lyall as no idea about mass effect.fields.]
no subject
I am... not familiar with the concept, I am afraid.
action
So it's when he sees a new piece of, uh, poetry on the network that he realizes Gil is awake. To his credit, he does not rush to visit........but okay. There's not a lot of time between reading the text and slipping into the engine room.
Gil's busy looking over something with his back to Felix, so he moves over to him to put a hand on Gil's arm. To get his attention.]
Hey. Good to see you on your feet.
no subject
Good to be on my feet. Anything exciting happen while I was gone?
no subject
No, pretty much smooth sailing. I guess something probably will happen soon though.
[That whole mysterious delivery they have to make. And the fact that, yeah, this crew is probably too curious for its own good.]
no subject
[He looks over Felix for a moment and then leans back so that his butt is resting against the console. His arms cross over his chest.]
But at least I get to look at you in the meantime.
no subject
...One day.]
I guess there's that...if nothing else.
[He's not that exciting!]
no subject
You know I like looking at you, right? Like... A lot.
no subject
I think I understand that, yeah.
["I like looking at you too" is what he doesn't say.]
no subject
I'd hope. I haven't been exactly subtle.
But...we should probably figure out what that means, shouldn't we?
no subject
It means something? [But then he takes a breath and that smile turns into a wince and a look of remorse because that was really glib. And he doesn't mean to be mean to Gil. The guy doesn't deserve that, as much as Felix thinks it would really put a stop to all of this.
He doesn't want Gil to hate him. For one thing, they have to live in close proximity. And while he's kind of used to his crewmates thinking he's a piece of shit...no. Not this time. Because the other thing: he still wants Gil as a friend. If that's still possible.]
No, sorry, I don't mean that. Look, Gil, you're a good guy. Really. I like... [Another inhale, an exhale, his eyes sliding off to the side because he may as well admit it.] I like being around you.
But if you want more than what we're already doing, you....you shouldn't.
no subject
Shouldn't huh? Is that because you aren't interested?
Look, I don't mind just saying friends who flirt. It's a ton of fun with you. I like it. And I'm the kind of guy to do things that I like, but being put to sleep for a month made me think about... trying out more than that.
Everything we do is so temporary. Here, or home. It doesn't matter. It's all just one life, one unwanted vacation on his crazy ship. And pretending to stand still if there's a chance we could be something more...
I just wanna know if it's even possible, understand?
no subject
[He'll admit that much, even though he probably shouldn't. When he said he liked being around Gil, he means it absolutely non-platonically.]
I do understand. I just....think you don't know enough about me to make an informed choice about wanting more.
[Felix still isn't making eye contact. This is...about as tough as he thought it was going to be.]
I don't know if I'm...the person you think I am.

He manages to look up properly, sobering quickly.]
