[The first thing she did once she got a good handle on exactly what was going on - which, for the record, she did not need help with, she is a perfectly capable and independent adult vampire, it's fine - was dive into the engine room and begin to pull things apart. There is knowledge brimming out of her mind that she has no origin for or control over, it's chaotic and it's mad and she loves it.]

[She broadcasts from the engine room, looking at a wrench admiringly. She's messy and a little greasy, but it's a suave sort of messy and greasy. Gods only know how she manages this.]

I'd be interested to know how many people are actually upset about this. Being here. Because I know all sorts of things now that I never could have known before, and that's worth something, I think.

Also, have there ever been any riots here? I think I could do with a good riot sometime soon.

Rotten fruit is to torches and pitchforks as a human baby is to a troll. They're simply not even in the same category. Nice try, though. Points for effort.

It's about as close as I've seen to anything like that here, though, so... [He shrugs one shoulder.] Take what you can get, I guess.

I suppose if that's all we've got to work with . . . I was imagining a less peaceable populace. If there are populaces out there. I suppose there have to be? Eventually? It can't all be empty space.

Eh, give it time. Just because we haven't come across any especially belligerent folks yet doesn't mean we won't.

I heard something about an attack?

Ah, yeah, earlier this month. Bunch'a ships just came outta nowhere and opened fire. It was pretty hairy for a while, and some of the ships were badly damaged, but in the end they pulled back. I dunno why--we still dunno who they were or what they even wanted.

You never had a chance to communicate with the other ships?

Tried hailing them, but never got a response. They didn't even have the decency to introduce themselves before kicking our asses.
