Who: Wanda Maximoff
Broadcast: Yes
Action: A music store in Relnyx
When: Today

Look at this!

[Yes, there are little wisps of red at the edges of the feed. No, your communicator's not broken. Wanda's just holding hers aloft with her powers to show a good look at the instrument in front of her. It looks like a theremin, or what would pass for one in this corner of the universe. The vertical antenna is instead a spiral with lights that slowly shift colors, and the entire thing is a shiny chrome.

Wanda moves her hand (the one that isn't glowing for good measure) over the horizontal antenna and it makes a sound not unlike a synthesized string section. The notes change as her hand position does, and while it's not a particular melody, Wanda clearly thinks it's very cool.

She does the same thing with the other hand, and the space beside the vertical antenna almost sings. Someone offscreen says something to her, and when Wanda changes her technique to include vibrato it sounds like a very good synthesized voice.]

--like this? [Apparently the answer is 'yes,' because Wanda grins and turns back to the camera.] They have so many strange instruments here, but I've never seen one like this.

It is not what I'm used to, but it would be something to do while we drift.

[That...is the most bizarre instrument she's ever seen. Without question.]

It's... sensing your hand? [Is that what's happening?]
therewerefifty: (that's what I needed to hear)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2018-09-12 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
[No, she likes it.]

Will you be bringing one back to the ship?
therewerefifty: (um. what? 'kay...)

[personal profile] therewerefifty 2018-09-14 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
If you were willing, I'd be... interested to test it with you. [She likes music. And all its instruments! But she doesn't want to intrude.]

[Because we don't have enough threads idk.

The Vision had promised to go out with Wanda to the stations to have a Real Date, and shopping definitely fits the bill. He hadn't expected to end up in a music store, but then, he really hadn't had a good idea what they'd end up doing. So he's leaning back on one of the walls as he watches her try out the demo theremin, grinning.]

We could find the space for it easily, I think. They fold up rather small.

[An essential facet of anything designed for spacefarers.]
unbearablynaive: (does that make sense)

It suits you.

[It's very much in keeping with her style, and it looks like it would be pretty easy to customize with paint or decals without interfering with its function.]

And there are no doubt tutorial videos on how to make particular sounds, and something like sheet music for some recognizable songs?

[Or recognizable to people in this system, anyway - if they want any Earth classics they're going to have to figure it out themselves or ask someone more musically inclined.]
unbearablynaive: (oh dear)

[personal profile] unbearablynaive 2018-09-13 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
[A musical instrument is a perfectly reasonable thing to occupy yourself with on a long voyage.]

I--suppose I could.

[He looks doubtful - playing music isn't really his thing, even if he likes listening to it. And the hand gestures the theremin uses seem awfully abstract to him. He'd prefer something more mathematical, like strings or percussion. Be that as it may, he sits down next to her (he's not using it as an excuse to get a little more contact with her, certainly not) and starts tentatively waving his hand around in the desired fashion. He looks pleased when it produces a few notes and he experiments for a bit, not managing to make any kind of melody.]

[Morgan isn't able to take his eyes off the instrument. He's no musician, by far, but it's so different from anything he's seen before.]

Whoa, that's really cool! Have you seen anything else interesting in the markets?
nosferatanking: (Default)

sorry for the delay!

[personal profile] nosferatanking 2018-09-15 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Underwater? That's amazing!

[What kind of instrument is it, he wonders. Strings? Winds?]

I'll have to make a trip to the markets myself later. This planet seems really interesting.

That makes sense.

[He nods, deep in thought.]

Yeah. I don't think it's really hit me until this planet that we're in space. I mean, sure the technology was advanced everywhere else, but seeing all the different ecosystems aliens can live in is amazing!

[Kitty smiles, seeing Wanda so happy over it. At least when she can see Wanda and not just her hair.]

You and Makie can start a band now. [She can't really imagine how this instrument would blend with a shamisen, but she isn't a musician so she doesn't really have to, right? If anything goes wrong she can probably figure out some extra sound proofing measures for the ship.]

Oh, plenty of people to hit things, but will any of us have rhythm? You'll want to audition very carefully.

Or we just travel from ship to ship to perform in front of anyone who has wronged or annoyed us.

Wow! That thing looks so cool! You have to bring it aboard the ship!
goldenglasses: Maker on LJ (Ideas forming! And that is never good!)

I think that would be a great use of your 'office.' [There's a grin to his voice that will be hard for her to not notice.] Should be a good use for it.

It sounds like it would be a lot of fun. No matter what sort of noise that ends up being made.
