Glitch
Who: Randolph Lyall and OPEN
Broadcast: Fleetwide
Action: On the SS Blameless and the Iskaulit
When: Sometimes after the crew of the Blameless got curious and opened the first cargo they were entrusted with.
CONTENT WARNING: All prompts will contain mentions of physical and potentially sexual abuse. I will put everything under cuts so it is easy to avoid, but please consider the whole post and comment threads as potentially containing this content.
[Broadcast/Action for people on the Blameless]
[Lyall isn't sure what has woken him up. It's still early and anyone who is not on duty is probably still asleep. All that he knows is that it hurts everywhere right now. It even hurts to breathe, his ribs tender and some of them probably broken.
He drags himself out of the bed so he can get to the bathroom and get some water to drink. Even in the low lighting of the bedroom, it is relatively easy to see that he's covered in bruises. He's walking with an obvious limp and there are marks on his back that look suspiciously like some sort of beast used him as a scratch post.
He manages, with some effort, to get to the sink and to gulp down a bit of water, but even that simple effort seems to have robbed him of what little strength he had and he sinks to the floor with a small whimper of pain.
If only he could be unconscious again.]
[Action] SS Blameless / Iskaulit
[If you have met Lyall before, it will be very, very obvious that something is wrong with him.
He is dressed to the nines as he always is, and with his customary suit, very little of the bruises actually show. But the ordinarily discreet werewolf seems to try and be even more inconspicuous than he normally does. He is making himself as small and unobtrusive as possible when out and about. The limp is still there, even if he tries to hide it, and his face doesn't let anything show even though he is pretty much in constant pain.
He is also very, very skittish right now. He is avoiding crowds, and any loud noise is likely to make him jump quite badly.
Aboard the SS Blameless, he will attend to his duties as usual (or attempt to at least, if no one tries to stop him). Otherwise, he will pretty much navigate between the kitchen and Biffy's room, because he still needs his tea.
Aboard the Iskaulit, he will be doing his usually rounds to sniff out new people, although much more slowly. He probably will end up at one of the places that sell alcohol at some point, although since he can't get drunk, any attempt to drown out the hurt will unfortunately be a failure.]

I'm not feeling sorry for myself, and my own anger is long gone. You really are only doing a disservice to yourself, Captain. Why be angry about something you cannot change or do anything about?
no subject
I realize I cannot change or do anything about it, but it doesn't stop me being angry that you had to suffer through that at all, angry at the circumstances that forced you into that situation.
[ It's called empathy, Lyall, and unfortunately Kirk has a near lethal amount of it sometimes. ]
no subject
Lyall is just... going to down the rest of his drink. And ask for another one.]
I spent years making sure no one would ever find out about this. And then I had to tell people about it anyway, at a time where I didn't have a choice. Having it broadcast here again is not exactly doing anything good to me, as I am sure you can understand.

[ His lips thinned and pursed a little, as if he might actually feel a little chagrinned. He wasn't sorry for worrying about his friend, but he could understand that this was not a pleasant topic for Lyall to be discussing. He had his own, and god knew it wasn't fun having them dragged to light against your will. He downed his drink and called for another. ]
Yeah, I can. So I won't pry anymore, but I am glad that it's not something that's happening now.
no subject
[Most times, he's okay, even if in pain physically. At others, the lines between past and present seem to blur and he gets almost overwhelmed with emotions and memories he thought he had put behind him.]
It was... a hard time. But it's over. It has been over for more than thirty years.
[It's almost like he's trying to convince himself here.]
no subject
Just because it was thirty years ago doesn't mean you have to be beyond it, Lyall. You don't have to be over it yet. Everyone deals with these things in their own way and their own time.
[ He says his words softly and sincerely. He knows what it is to go through trauma, and even he is still living with remnants of those past experiences. 'Over it' would never really be a thing for him, he was sure. Only perhaps a little more distant. ]
no subject
[You try to convince your brain your lover is actually alive and well and you are not mourning him when everything is telling you otherwise.]
no subject
Atroma doesn't like to play nice, do they?
[ He leaned back in his chair, sighing softly. ]
Fucking dirty, is what it is.
no subject
[No pulling punches here.]
But I do mean it when I say you shouldn't concern yourself overly much with it. A few days and it will be gone completely.
[Of course, a few days is much too long and would tell any werewolf that the damage is pretty expansive, but... Kirk isn't a werewolf and with any chance the topic never came up when he was with Biffy so he wouldn't know. Hopefully.
no subject
[ There was a long moment where he looked at Lyall hard. Biffy hadn't mentioned advanced healing or strength, though Kirk had puzzled there might be something like that considering that quite a few things Biffy had mentioned to him did line up with some of the legends from his own world. Given that pattern, he assumed some others might apply, though he was not sure which. Either way, Lyall was asking for him to back off, and Kirk knew he needed to respect that. ]
Well, if it doesn't get better in a few days, promise me you'll go see one of the medics?
no subject
[All of you with your friendliness and your concerns who won't let Lyall hide his problems. He's still going to try, though.]
no subject
[ He leaned over to give him a very serious look to the werewolf. ]
That is what you get for having friends, Lyall. Get used to it.
no subject
[But maybe that's because his friends - although maybe he should say friend, he really only has the one - are all werewolves too.]
no subject
I'm sure they are. They probably just weren't half as nosy as I am.
[ He wagged his finger at Lyall. What? At least he can recognize a character flaw in himself. ]
You had best get used to it. If you're in trouble, we're naturally going to want to try and help you. No two ways about it.
no subject
[And yet he did manage to keep certain things secret for four long years. Only recently did he have confirmation of something he suspected but never knew for sure, that Channing knew at least some of ti and kept it secret too.]
I do appreciate that, but in this particular instance, there's nothing much to be done.
no subject
[ He sighed. ]
I know, I know. And I'm sorry Atroma brought this on. They're a twisted bastard, to be sure.
[ He raised his glass and sipped. ]
To your swift recovery, then.
