[ Generally speaking Daryl doesn't do broadcasts, if at all avoidable. He's not the chatty type, and he doesn't trust the prospect of an audience.

But everyone's got their limits, and he needs answers. ]

This ship broken or what?

[ He doesn't appear upside-down... except that above him is the floor of his room on the Tourist, and his hair's kind of... floating. So, okay, he's just holding the camera the right way while hanging somewhere near the ceiling.

It's unnerving, which means he looks pretty ticked off. ]

[ Well, when he gets to Daryl's room, he lets himself in. He can't help the quick bark of laughter which he covers up with a hand. ]

You better watch it, Sylvester.

[ this is not as threatening as it sounds because a) cartoon cats, really Daryl? and b) he is uselessly drifting near the ceiling. ]

[ Really, Daryl? Whatever, he'll go along with it, he knows the reference at least. ]

Here, gimme your hand. [ He holds out his own toward Daryl. The least he can do is try to pull the guy around, right? ]

[ what would you reference if not for old cartoons?

with an irate grunt, he reaches to let Carl give him a tug. Problem is once he gets down, he can't really stay down. ]

[ Literally anything, Daryl. Literally anything. Carl takes his hand and gives him a pull toward himself. If he can get Daryl closer to the ground it might be easier? ]

So, you hungry?

[ nuh. You get old movies or older cartoons, those are the options.

He doesn't quite manage to stand; he's tried and he knows already from experience that the likeliest outcome is, he'll manage to get his feet on the floor but the force of it will just push him back up. So really he's floating maybe an inch off the ground, but at least oriented close to perpendicular to the floor. It's a pain in the ass. ]

Kinda... Not sure I oughta do anything about it.

You really should, though. I'll make you a grilled cheese, that's easy enough.

[ Once Daryl is toward the ground enough, he wraps his arm around his back to keep him somewhat stable. ]

[ He makes a vaguely grumpy sound, the motion pushing him forward to bounce into a half step. ]

Someone said this could last a couple weeks.

Hopefully not. By then, you'd be used to it, but that's a pain.

[ Yep, just going to pull him along to the kitchen. Hopefully the table will keep him anchored enough so he can at least enjoy it? ]

[ This just makes him feel like a useless balloon, but it's a little easier at least than trying to drag himself along the walls.

Getting into a chair is somewhat more difficult, but at least being stuck between the seat and the table is pretty effective. ]

So shit like this just happens for no reason?

[ Much as he prefers not to think about the thing they stuck in his head, it's hard to ignore under the circumstances. ]

[ Okay, but a useless balloon doesn't grunt with that much irritation, though. Carl takes his hat off and tosses it onto the table so it doesn't get in the way and pokes around the kitchen of the Tourist. It's not much different from his own, really. ]

Yuuuup. [ He pops the 'p', putting a pan on the stove and turning it on. ]

You've seen it a couple times before, I think? Usually goes away on its own, but there's no way to tell what it's gonna be.

[ Daryl has a wide variety of grunts, expressing a great range of opinions and emotions. The vague noise he makes now is still annoyed, but slightly mollified because he's at least less floaty.

He stares at the hat a moment, then back up at Carl. ]

What about you?

[ no joke, he'd trade places in a heartbeat. ]

Yeah, I've seen it plenty. Most of the time, it's pretty harmless, just annoying. Other times.. well, you saw it. Didn't you?

[ As he talks, he busies himself finding ingredients and gathering them together, because it's better than making eye contact. Those stupid ears on his head probably give him away, flattening a bit. ]

I dunno.

[ This place is weird enough he might not realize what was happening. After all, they're surrounded by actual aliens half the time. Jesus.

Truth is, though he definitely gets why that's embarrassing, it looks a lot less inconvenient. And he can't help it, he's curious. ]

You hear any better like that?

Not really? They're mostly just in the way? They feel real, but I don't really hear any better.

[ Well that's oddly disappointing. ]

[ yes, he would actually be impressed if they worked. ]

Pretty much all glitches in general.

[ Once the pan is hot and he puts together his sandwiches, he puts them on and waits it out. ]

Guess you're kinda used to it by now.

[ Daryl is pretty sure he never will get used to that. The food smells good, as it starts to sizzle. He really hopes he doesn't puke. He's usually got a solid stomach, but this is ridiculous. ]

I guess. It's just something that happens and you get over.

[ After a few minutes, he uses the spatula to flip the sandwiches over. ]

[ coming from a world where the dead started eating the living probably helps, when you get kidnapped by aliens. They're all adaptable as hell, so Daryl just shrugs at that. Makes sense.

He's silent for a moment. ]

Didn't have to come over.

[ he says it quietly, though, not protesting, just his own personal kind of shitty way of saying thanks, kid. ]

[ Daryl knows well enough by now that nobody can really make Carl do anything he doesn't want to do. ]
