Hey, so, weird question: any of you engineering, tech-savvy types looking for a project?

Because apparently there's a sweet obstacle course on that big mega-mall of a ship following us around, but you gotta set everything up by hand. Well, almost everything. Tennis ball cannons seem to work pretty well as-is, and I am totally fine having something shot at me that isn't covered in spikes, or you know, explosive.

But it kinda takes the fun out of running the gauntlet with this sorta thing if you're the one building it, and especially if nothing in it ever changes mid-run to make things interesting.

[As for why he's not running his mouth off about this and resorting to texting everyone, well... his augment decided its glitch of choice would be completely muting him for a few days. Then again, while he might hate it, some people might actually appreciate that.]

You mean, set up some kind of training program where you battle against AIs? We had one of those back where I came from. Uh, I can always ask the princess if she knows how those things worked, but it wouldn't be nearly as sophisticated as the one we had on the Castle of Lions.

Wait that's a thing? I was just hoping for an obstacle course that liked to change itself up to mess with you, but that sounds way more interesting.

Yup, that sure is a thing. I just have no actual idea if it's something that can be made here. The big problem is even if we set up robots with some rudimentary AI, once we beat the crap out of them, we gotta spend a bunch of time rebuilding them.

I feel like this is something I should ask Pidge about, but I also know I'd need a notepad and maybe a tape recorder to keep up for when he really gets going on the technobabble.

Pidge definitely tends to do that. I'd go with both.

Well, I'm more concerned with the hardware end of things first, programming second.

Having a super advanced training program installed someplace without anything for it to control would be a bit of a waste.

Then explain what you want with the hardware. I'm pretty certain I can come up with something that you want.

Eh, you know. Usual obstacle course stuff, just incorporated into an automated setup.

So I mean, something like a climbing wall, but able to show up anywhere, not just fixed in one place. So there'd probably need to be some sort of conveyor or a track somewhere, or at least multiple walls that can extend into or retract from the room at random from fixed points.

Shouldn't be too hard to program. It sounds similar to the simulations I had to put together back home.

What's the point of an obstacle course if you're the one who builds the thing? Not like you can be surprised by what you have to deal with.

I mean, that's one option, but I can't imagine anyone'd be too thrilled to just be on-call to set this sort of thing up. It'd probably feel like being the world's most underpaid boardwalk employee. But without even lousy pay to look forward to.
