[ loki is no stranger to space ships. though the kind of ships asgard uses are quite different in nature, he's read enough to be familiar with the make and feel of this one. he quietly turns on the recording device, squinting at it. very primitive but it'll have to do. he straightens himself, as befitting a prince, quiet and somber despite the nervousness. ]

Greetings. I am Prince Loki of Asgard. I wish to know about my whereabouts and swift return to Asgard. My father will not be pleased.

[ a pause as loki thinks of what else to add before pulling out a large knife he stole from the kitchens. ]

Also I have a knife.

[Belatedly, Thor realises that continuing down this track is either going to result in a lot of dodged questions or very unfortunate answers. And he doesn't much want to give those answers to Loki as he is.]

What, you want me to spoil your future for you? [He injects that with some incredulity.] Because there's a lot of it, you know.

[It really doesn't take much for Thor to default back to annoying older brother behaviour.]

I'll only tell you one thing: you did help.

[ loki pokes thor in the arm. ]

That's not enough. Tell me more.

[He sighs, raking his fingers back through his hair.]

No, Loki, I really can't.

[dothelokimotion]

[ it's strange to see thor like this. not just big but quiet and somber. loki falters slightly, his own enthusiasm. ]

I don't understand. Surely it was a great adventure. Just like the ones we heard about from Father.

[Loki can't know just how similarly Thor feels in this moment. Seeing his brother young again, bright and inquisitive without hiding it, is a painful reminder of everything that fell in between. Even just glancing off the reason of why Thor's eye is gone comes close to a dozen things he just can't tell the boy. Just won't. It would only upset him for however long this lasts.

It takes a moment for Thor to smile again, but he does.]

It was like that, in its own way. And I know it's going to be one of the great tales told in our halls forever. I just don't have the words for it yet.

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki frowns, but nods quietly. maybe thor will tell him later. he tugs on his sleeve once more. ]

What else can you tell me?

Hmm... I could show you something instead. That's better.

[dothelokimotion]

Yes! Show me something!

[rebuildyourruins]

All right. [Thor gets to his feet, putting his hands on his hips.] But we need to go outside to see it.

[dothelokimotion]

Outside?

To the planet?

[rebuildyourruins]

Yeah. I've been out there, it's fine ... just dirty.

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki's look of disgust is plain to see. ]

How dirty?

[rebuildyourruins]

Super dirty.

[Thor shrugs, opening the door and waiting for Loki to follow.]

But you don't have to step outside, I can show you from the door.

[dothelokimotion]

From the door?

[ this is getting stranger and stranger, but loki toddles after thor, reaching for his hand. ]

[He nearly loses a step in surprise as Loki clutches his hand. Thor's expression flickers strangely before he chuckles.]

Well, yes, because I'm showing you something I'm doing.

[dothelokimotion]

[ huh? what was that? still loki pulls at his hand. ]

How long does it take? Is it magic? I thought you didn't like magic. Did you change your mind?

[rebuildyourruins]

[Whatever pause Thor had was swiftly barrelled over, and he merely grins as he grips Loki's hand and pulls him along.]

It's quick. I don't like doing magic, you know that. But I've met some really annoying wizards lately.

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki frowns. ]

Wizards aren't annoying, Thor.

[rebuildyourruins]

This one was. He kept teleporting all over the place instead of walking.

[Thor stops in the cargo hold and hits the switch to open the back door.]

[dothelokimotion]

That's lazy spellwork. Mother says magic isn't just about tricks.

[ loki watches the door open curiously. ]

[rebuildyourruins]

[Thor smiles then, mercifully free from any lingering grief.]

She does know better than any. The wizard wasn't lucky enough to have her teachings.

[With that, Thor jumps down from the door and heads a few paces away. He turns and calls back to Loki as he does so.]

Okay, are you ready?

[dothelokimotion]

[ suddenly loki was nervous, moving behind thor and still keeping a grip on his arm. but he nods. ]

I'm ready.

[rebuildyourruins]

[It brings bright memories to mind - of their childhood days, when they would go off exploring somewhere and Loki would dart behind Thor if they encountered something too dangerous. Thor usually had tried to face down whatever it was (wild boars, shadows in the night) to mixed results. He shakes it off and changes his plan slightly. He can't bring down a whole lightning bolt with Loki hanging on to him.]

Good. It's going to get loud out here.

[Thor tips his head back, looking upwards and drawing a deep breath. It isn't hard to make storms come at his call now. Before it would have only happened when dark moods struck him, in the earlier days after Ragnarok. Now the skies start to darken within seconds, a wind whipping up and stirring their hair.]
