[ loki is no stranger to space ships. though the kind of ships asgard uses are quite different in nature, he's read enough to be familiar with the make and feel of this one. he quietly turns on the recording device, squinting at it. very primitive but it'll have to do. he straightens himself, as befitting a prince, quiet and somber despite the nervousness. ]

[ a pause as loki thinks of what else to add before pulling out a large knife he stole from the kitchens. ]

[Loki gives a small, approving nod of his head.] So you're not completely useless with that knife. That's good, but have you ever actually used it against a person before?

[ his brow furrows. ]

I'm not going to admit to that.

Fine. You don't have to, but if you haven't actually cut someone with your blade before you'll hesitate when you really need to use it.

[ loki frowns. ]

Lucky for you, you shouldn't need that knife here. These ships are full of goody-goody types.

[ he's not familiar with that turn of phrase, but it's easy enough to follow. ]

Why is that a bad thing?

Because it's boring! Good people are too easy to predict and they always do the same thing.

[dothelokimotion]

Good doesn't have to be boring though. They just need imagination.

Yeah, but I so rarely meet one that does. Or if they do it's usually just a front for their true intentions.

Maybe you just need to give more chances. That way, there are more opportunities.

Of course not! My father helps defend the realms from monsters. And when I grow up, I'm going to help too.

Oh yeah? [Manji considers this for a moment.] Does he actually fight on the battlefield or just send his men out to fight for him?

[dothelokimotion]

The former. He even lost his eye to the king of Frost Giants.

Father doesn't like war, but he says we must always be ready. But we shouldn't look for it.

[canofmanji]

Hm. [Doesn't actually sound like such a bad guy really. Manji always hated those people who liked to sit on high in their castles while others fought their wars for them. Then again, no one is more perfect than a dad in their kid's eyes.]

Oh yeah? Can't say I've ever fought anything like a giant. Pretty big guys, but no giant. [He'll let this kid's dad be better than him. At least for now.]
