[The video begins with Natasha's face, the picture close to crop out most of the background, though what little is visible would seem to indicate she's in a cargo bay. Her expression is largely stoic, but she looks tired—and her bleach job is growing out, showing red roots.]

For those of you who hadn't noticed yet, Captain Barnes form the Heron is gone. You may have known him as Winter or Bucky, depending on when and how you met. He left a few days ago and is no longer on the ship rosters.

I'm collecting his personal effects to sort and store. If anyone had an interest in any of his things, check in with me on the Vanquish.

[There's a slight frown around her mouth, like maybe she's second guessing making this broadcast in the first place. After her brief hesitation, she commits to finishing the message.]

I suppose, the same goes for Sam Wilson. I've been keeping most of his things since he left too.

[Then a thin smile.]

Congratulations to the new captains, and thank you for letting me raid your ships.

[Thor takes a seat across from Natasha, looking at the items she's got from Barnes's stay here.]

A lot of time to gather a lot of things. [He glances up at her again.] Longer than you?

Longer than me, yeah. He'd already made a lot of progress before I got here.

It was impressive.

[It hasn't been lost on Thor that he's now counted one of those who has been here longest among the Avengers. Most everyone else who was here when he arrived is gone, save for Natasha.]

I didn't know him before... but I understand that Steve did?

He knew Barnes before he was brainwashed, back in the old days. [A fact that was important to both of them, and deservedly so. But it was different from Natasha's experience with him as well.] He tried to kill me a couple of times. Before I was with the Avengers even.

[At least Thor has plenty of experience with loved ones trying to kill him. So it doesn't even strike him as that surprising, given what little he knows of how Barnes was previously.]

Really? You've known him for longer than that then.

Knew him might be strong. He didn't even know himself. But I knew of him. [He was almost mythic in the circles she'd once run in. A legend. And here was Natasha—all told, she survived him trying to kill her three times. that had to count for something.]

I suppose it isn't as important as what happened after, when you did meet him.

Yeah. That's the important part. [Natasha takes a deep breath, glancing aside. Ugh. Emotions. She's not a fan of getting caught having them like this.] You know it's all right, right? It's not like—

I'll get over it.

[Thor looks at Natasha, tipping his head to the side a bit before a smile flickers over his face.]

Well, yes. I know you will. You'll make it so, as you always do. That doesn't mean it isn't a hardship now.

[How dare so many people have her number? Is this what it's like having friends?]

No, it doesn't. And right now, it... it's pretty bad, honestly.

[Alas, it is. For all of Thor's correct assessment of what's going on here, he still hasn't ever heard Natasha admit to something like this. It does surprise him somewhat.]

Yeah... especially in this place, where there is no warning it's about to happen.

[What good would it do her to pretend he's wrong? That doesn't mean she's inclined to say more about it.

She's not actually sure the next step. There's no script for this.]

But we have a pretty good idea what might be there when we get home.

A good idea, but not a definite one.

[Because if she means the loss of any memory of this place? Thor still refuses to accept it as a given.]

[And she'll let him assume she means that, rather than clarify that she means she knows what they're going home to: defeat, and Barnes dead.]

No, not a definite one. Anything's possible at this point.

We'll all get back there eventually, Natasha.

I know we will. In some ways, it's like we never really left.
