I love it when new books show up in the library...it's not very often, but every once in a while there's a new book to look at. I found this really neat one, it was a fairy tale about a girl whose mother casts a spell on so she sleeps until the wars of her land are over.

And then she wakes up and she explores the new world, and she makes new friends and she finds her mother as an old, old woman and tells her all of her adventures. It's a little bittersweet at the end, but it's really good, if anybody would like to borrow it.

Does anybody have any legends or stories like that? People going to sleep and waking up new places, or traveling to new worlds? I'd like to hear 'em.

[Libra looks thoughtful.]

That story reminds me a little bit of someone I know. The Voice of the Divine Dragon was a friend and companion to our kingdom's founder. She slept for some two thousand years, before awakening to aid us when the world was in peril once again.

[he doesn't really want to leave his room until he has to, but fine, whatever, he'll go to the damn library. A few minutes later Ben shuffles his way into the loading bay, shoulders hunched and hands shoved deep into his jacket pockets, no different from normal.

Totally not different from normal shut up]

She's never explained it. She is a being of great power, however - powerful enough to know that she would be needed again. It may have been to keep her safe until that time, or perhaps of her own choice, to preserve the memories she formed so long ago. ...She speaks of the hero-king Marth, the kingdom's founder, with great fondness.

A new book!! [Belthazar is just as excited, okay.] Hmm, I think I know of one...

There's an old poem about a sorceress who put her village to sleep in order to hide and protect them from a great evil. It's completely made up, but I'm fond of it regardless.

Have you ever heard the story of Rip Van Winkle?

Don't look at me like that.

[there's definitely more grouch than usual, but at least he kind of - winces at the tone of his voice because he really doesn't mean to take the extra grouch out on anyone]

Let's go find your stupid book and get this over with.

There wasn't much fanfare. Two people sought me out. One was searching for me.

The other fell down a hole.
