[Crowley can be found behind the bar as normal. Unlike normal, however, he isn't here to give you a stupid time consuming network game, or pose a stupid drinking game or riddle. It's not a day for that kind of thing.

He manages to remain pretty laconic, uncaring - but today he is anything but. He also has a very large bottle of wine he's already half polished off. ]

So, today marks exactly ten years since I last saw home. Not just being here, of course. Adding in all my time in that fucking castle, too. It's a fart in the wind, time-wise, really. I've had longer naps.

[He's always been very vocal about not missing home. Hell is back home, recovering after the near apocalypse and waiting to see if they find him and punish him for what he did. Aziraphale has always been someone who's shown up once in a while, hung about for a bit and then vanished off home again. But...but, it's been an awfully long time since he last saw the angel. And for the first time in a long, long time, he's starting to feel a tug of homesickness.]

...But I guess ten years still counts for something, huh?

You know me. I love to pick fights. [Anyone who has seen even just two of Vash's posts would know that's a huge lie.]

That's not something I've really thought much about. What I would do if someone I knew from home arrived and they were a lot older or younger than I remembered. [Older would be easier. He's use to watching his friends grow old and die while he doesn't age, but younger? That would be weird.] Did it ever stop being weird for you?

Uh huh. You're unstoppable.

[Said with all the sarcasm that statement deserves.]

Nope. It remained weird until he left. I mean, he had a lot of memories that hadn't actually happened for me yet. Plus he was a grown man and doing grown man things instead of eleven year old boy things and it was just very depressingly odd. Glad he does okay in the future, though.

[Vash pauses a moment in order to make their conversation a bit more private. He doesn't think Crowley will mind if it was left open; he didn't seem all that shy about saying he wasn't human. It was honestly mostly for his own comfort.]

The memory thing would be pretty weird and hard to get over, but did you always watch the people you knew back home grow old? Did you ever say, leave for awhile and then go back and meet them when they were much older?

[He never minds, but he'll take the private message when it's offered up. ]

Mostly I moved around a bit, popped in to check on the few mortals I grew close to. [Da Vinci. He misses Da Vini. ] But honestly most of the time it was me and the angel. Easier that way. Neither of us were going anywhere so you know. No emotional fallout.

[Vash so rarely opened up like this. Back home there had been no other immortals to talk with ~~except his brother, but they haven't seen eye to eye in awhile~~ and besides Bigby's immortal gathering years ago now he hadn't really found a lot of people to talk to about this sort of thing. It was weird, but nice.]

Really? Just the two of you? That didn't get lonely at all? [Vash smiles, unable to help himself.] That sounds like one really good friend. You must really miss him. [He knows he would.]

Nah. I guess we got used to one another. We never really needed anything or anyone else.

[He does miss the angel. Desperately. When Aziraphale isn't around, it's like a piece of him is missing and he hates it. The angel keeps him level and equal as much as he does the same for the angel. Together...well, together they strike a perfect balance. ]

I suppose. Sometimes. I don't miss his ratty books or his goddamn boring idea of what constitutes as music.

I'm not sure I could get use to seeing just one person all the time. [Even with as much heartache that could come from watching people grow old Vash still thought the connections were worth it.

Vash laughs at his description of the books and music.] Does the book have to be ratty for it to be good? Frayed pages adding to the quality of the words inside, huh?

Well, we do spend a lot of time apart too. But I suppose if you're at it long enough you stop noticing.

[He points a finger, showing Vash has got it in one.]

Yup. The older, smellier and more illegible the better.

Yeah? You think so? [It's a mostly rhetorical question as Vash idly wonders if he'll ever get to that point.] Glad you found someone only mildly annoying to spend your time with then.

Even if it's starting to sound like he doesn't have a sense of smell or... illegible? Wait. Isn't that what makes a book... a book?

I know, I really lucked out there.

[He snorts.]

You'd think that wouldn't you? But no, no. He likes them to just sit there. In his bookshop. Largely never touched. He hoards them.

But what's the point of having books if you don't read them? Are you sure he's an angel and not a dragon or something?

Oh yeah, for sure all angel. He's just one that's picked up the very unfortunate human attribute of coveting.

Wait, aren't angels suppose to be beyond that sort of thing or something like that? If you excuse my ignorance. I never have met an angel properly before.

Most of them are, Aziraphale's just been living on Earth too long. He's like me, only the opposite way.

Well, I don't think that sounds so bad then. Humans have a way of rubbing off on people. [Said with the tone of voice of someone who clearly sees that as a good thing. Silly human lover.] You two sound like you enjoy living on Earth. I sometimes wish I could see it.

They do, they're tenacious little fuckers like that.

[His tone is also fond. He loves humans, humans are great.]

Maybe one day? Perhaps sometime this Fleet will actually make it to a star system we recognise and move on from there.

Maybe we will one day. There are so many different people here it seems like someone should recognise some stars sooner or later.

Would you want to go back after all this time? [It at least sounds like he did.] I know some people who wish to leave to other worlds instead of going back to where they left off.

That's what the smart ones seem to think.

I don't know, honestly. Maybe not. I have the angel back there, but I have Felix here. He...kind of trumps everything. I'm not ready to give that part up yet.

[Vash smiles fondly. He thinks of Kitty and knows exactly what Crowley means. Even if they don't have the same unconditional feelings like Felix and Crowley has.]

That's true. And I don't think you should give it up. After all, we have plenty of time to get home, right? [Haha, immortal joke.]

[Connections forged in places like these...they become so very important. Ones you would be bereft to lose. ]

Hah. That's true. One thing we have in spades is time.

So congrats on the ten years- I suppose- swing by the bar sometime. I'll by you a drink because I'm not sure I can afford what you got at your place.

I'll have you know I have some affordable drinks here. And thanks. I'll celebrate it in style, I'm sure.
