Who: Lorden and You!
Broadcast: Video
Action: Marisa > Bloodsport
When: Evening of the 9th
[There are a few loud shouts when he wakes up, calling out for something or someone, but more like curious than panicked. He can still feel the Light, so it's not like before, but he also can't seem to find his Ghost, and that's a major concern.]
Equinox! Equinox? Amida, if this is a prank....
Wrath? Anybody?
[And shortly after, he'll be in the cafeteria area, poking at all the food dispensers and seeing what flavors of protein gel he can come up with.]
[Lorden's a bit startled by the sudden transportation to a new ship, but hey! Pudding! He takes a few moments to scan carefully for threats, but seeing none, he takes off his helmet. A rather blue person is underneath, and though his eyes keep darting around the bridge to look at things, he grabs one of the cups and starts eating. With his helmet under one arm, he begins walking around the ship.]
Hello? Anybody home?
Broadcast - Video (a little later)
[Now settled in his room and once again armored up, Lorden waves at the camera. He sounds pretty chipper for someone who just got kidnapped, but then, this place isn't exactly a stronghold of the Dark.]
Hi, everybody. Fresh meat here, call me Lorden. I'm from Earth--if I say I'm from the City that doesn't really help, does it? But it's the only City we have, so there you go.
If I'm, uh, missing something kind of important from home, how screwed am I?
Also, are reality shows really a thing, or are they just making that up?

[Should probably confirm that before testing it, though. And besides, the Marsiva didn't feel like it was a bastion of the Light. If it's some kind of death magic, he wants no part of it.]
Any idea how that works?
As for the rest of your questions.... I am still not convinced people are watching us, but people from further up in the future have confirmed these shows do exist.
[There a soft huff.] So there is time travel bullshit. I knew it! Look, where I'm from, we totally have aliens that will capture members of different species and stick them in a time bubble and watch, just to see what they'll do to each other. And they can travel in time and teleport all over space. I bet this is something like that.
Re: [Video]
I have to wonder whether the Earth your hail from is the same as mine but further along, or a different one altogether.
Kinda hard to tell. There's not a lot of records left from before the Golden Age, and what we have from then is pretty unreliable. Unless you were already at the point where you were exploring Mars?
Re: [Video]
[But yeah, science-fiction is barely starting as a genre, so space exploration itself it still a long way away.]
Have you hear of Queen Victoria?
Queen Mara Sov is the only one I know. I like the sound of "Victoria", though. Good name for a Queen.
[Dirigible. He's heard that somewhere before. Where?] A dirigible is...something that flies?
And yes, a dirigible does fly, although not very high. They use aether currents and steam engines for steering.
[It almost sounded like "Ether" for a moment there and his body language reads as startled, but there's a subtle difference in the pronunciation. Aether must be something else.]
Huh. So low-tech, but low impact.
--And just to be clear, you don't mean Ether like the stuff in the ground that some people harvest to eat. Because that would be hard to use for flying.
So yes, I do believe we are speaking of two different things.
So all this tech is pretty different. Is it weird for you?
[Because he is the closest thing Victorian England has to a science nerd, really.]
The Augment gave me enough basic knowledge to understand how things work, but I still study when I find the time.
I assume you are more used to it?
Yes and no. We have ships, but I've never seen a working Human ship this size - they're mostly jumpships, like the shuttles here. There's a whole faction of my people who are dedicated to achieving this - being self-sufficient out in space, away from all the trash in our own system. Being able to go from system to system in a matter of weeks is extraordinary.
But our weapons are better, we can make basically anything out of matter that has the right frequency, we can digitalize and transmit anything inorganic to a different place at the speed of light, and we make the best spicy ramen in the entire universe.
And your goal is basically to achieve the set-up they have here, then... except without the audience and the forced kidnapping, I would assume.
I guess so? Dead Orbit definitely does. Mostly we'd settle for not being attacked constantly, though.
Re: [Video]
[He doesn't, but it's fine.]
... Attacked? Who is attacking you?
He ticks off his fingers, counting as he names each faction.]
The Red Legion, the Vex, the Fallen, the Hive, the Taken, the Scorn - you name an alien race, they've probably attacked humanity at least once. We kinda lump them all together under "the Darkness".
I was unaware of the existence of actual alien life until coming here. Some writers fancy themselves creative and have imagined some, but we have yet to meet any.
Better to be left alone.
And... that item you said could revive you, I assume you are asking because you don't have it with you.
Yeah. She's not here. She's not gone, I'd be able to tell that, but she could be a whole galaxy away for all I know.
[You said 'something', not 'someone', earlier. Allow Lyall to look politely puzzled, the British way of asking for more information without actually asking anything.
Please explain.]
Equinox. She's my Ghost - about so big, made out of Light. She found me and brought me back the first time.
[...Were you hoping for something helpful? Cause if so, that probably doesn't qualify.]
