[The new arrival on the bridge makes a quick getaway, out of the lights and the sounds of the area and into the corridor, slipping as best he can with his 6'1" frame into the shadows just on the other side of the doorway (but not before pocketing a couple of those pudding cups, one can never be too greedy when it comes to sources of food).]

This can't be real.

[The words are uttered just above a whisper before he reaches to his belt, where an empty knife case hangs, and his slightly uneasy disbelief is quickly replaced with panic as he pats his pockets (however unlikely it is that he absentmindedly slipped a big knife into a pocket instead of his holster). He takes a steadying breath, eyes darting about before heading forward warily, slipping into the kitchen/galley area. Seeing no one else around after checking several hiding places, anyone who investigates the sounds of opening drawers will find a man with curly, dirty blood hair rifling through the utensil drawers looking for...something.

Once he's found a steak knife (which is better than nothing, thanks), he's going to continue exploring every door he can open on this ship, so the odds of him stumbling upon another crew member are pretty high. No matter what state he finds them in, he raises his hands to show he means no harm.]

I don't want any trouble. I just need some answers. My name is Aaron.

[Later, once he's gotten his bearings more he makes the following broadcast, careful and diplomatic in his wording. He still doesn't know what to make of this place or the people in it, and he doesn't blindly trust people the way he used to.]

Hello. I've only just arrived recently, and I'm under the impression many of you have been here for much longer. If you can offer me any sort of insight into this setup, I'd really appreciate it. To start things off slow and hopefully on the right foot, my name's Aaron, and I've been assigned as a Communications Officer on the SS Bloodsport.

Also, if the following names sound familiar, or you happen to own any of them, I'd be happy to hear from you:

Rick Grimes. Daryl Dixon. Glenn Rhee. Maggie Greene. Abraham Ford. Rosita Espinosa. Michonne. Carl Grimes. Sasha Williams.

[He lets a moment pass before ending his broadcast.]

[Now that Aaron's determined which bunk is his, that's where Carl finds him, sitting at the small desk inside and not thinking about how small the bed is, and how little he's slept in one alone in the past few years, or the weird glowing fish in the bowl on said desk.

He starts slightly at voice, because he hadn't actually expected to be this lucky, or to have been sneaked up upon, but he smiles when he sees who it is.]

Carl.

[The teenager isn't really that into hugs, even from his father, so instead of embracing him, Aaron puts a hand on his shoulder as he comes over.]

It's good to see a familiar face.

Good to see you, too. Despite it not being home, it's really not that bad.

[ Carl offers him a brief smile and makes himself at home, sitting on the end of Aaron's bed once his shoulder is let go of. ]

Some of the others are here, too.

It's not really that hard to be better than home, Carl, at least security-wise.

[In turn, Aaron moves back to the desk he's been given, but leans against the edge rather than sitting down, crossing his arms and listening to what Carl has to say.]

Which others?

[Look, he's trying his damnedest not to look hopeful about who might be here.]

There are no walkers, at least. Everyone's friendly for the most part, but they're more capable.

Others have come and gone, but Maggie, Glenn, and Daryl are here, too.

[Except that Eric and the others were back home, Eric had no idea where he was, if they'd been successful...]

How is Maggie? [Because the last time he saw her...]

She's better, especially with Glenn here.

[He nods. Thinking about the well-being of others has always helped him deal with is own problems, and he doesn't see that changing anytime soon.]

I'm sure he does. [He frowns, though.] And...the baby?

[ Carl frowns, looking uncomfortable for a moment. It's not something Maggie's ever really talked to him about, but he knows the mechanics of this place and he's a smart kid. It's not what people are saying, but what they're not saying that matters. Hell, he's got enough experience of the mechanics of this place to know. ]

People don't get sick or have sickness. Or anything.

[Aaron's a smart guy, but that still takes a moment to process and he shakes his head.]

Babies aren't an illness, Carl...

[But that wasn't what Carl was saying and he knew that. He closed his eyes for a moment, swallowing.]

Whatever this place is, or whoever runs it...they...where is she?

Not to us, they're not, but there aren't really kids around, either. The Atroma probably don't want to deal with that.

She's probably on the main ship, the Marsiva. There's not really a way to access the places that aren't public. Others have tried.

[It could be argued that Carl was a child, but he's not going to get into that, but he nods, even though it's hard to wrap his head about the idea that a baby could just disappear from a womb. He was here, after all, not home. Suddenly, and taken from a pretty intense situation.]

Why would she be there?

If she's not in the fleet but her name is still on the roster, that's got to be where she is.

[ Listen, man. Crazy shit can happen here, the rules don't apply. ]

But...why? Can we contact her?

[Why does Carl seem so chill about this?]

Shouldn't we try to contact her?

You can try, but her communicator is probably in her room on the Goldstone with Glenn.

She'll be back. [ He's definitely certain of that, at least. ]

[He crosses his arms, looking down for a moment, thinking.]

So, whatever's going on, it's normal enough that you just assume she'll be back, and there's no way to get to wherever you're sure she is? I was on that ship. There has to be a way back.

Stronger people than us have tried to break in, and it didn't go well. If gods can't break past it? What the hell can we do?

[ He raises his arms in an 'I don't know', dropping them to his sides. ]

That maybe breaking isn't what we need to do?

[He doesn't know much of anything about space ships...except what he knows from science fiction, but he knows a little about boats, at least enough to throw out a suggestion.]

There has to be...I don't know, vents? Some sort of system, and those would require access points.

You'd think so, but if it doesn't want you to go some place, you're not going to.

We're not just sitting here with our thumbs up our asses. [ Bluntly. ]

Actively? What if it doesn't know?

[He winces at Carl's retort, nodding.]

I...I know you're not. Glenn's here. And Daryl. If there was a way to get to Maggie, you would have. I just...

[He cares about her, too, okay.]

...that doesn't mean I have to like it.

[ Carl taps behind his ear where the augment is. ]

Anybody explain what these do, yet?

[He'd heard about a lot of it...except that middle bit, and he frowned as Carl continued.]

What do you by control us?

They call them glitches, but they can make us change or make us forget. Sometimes it's harmless, but those other times? They're not good people.

...what about the other times, Carl?

[ He shakes his head, looking serious. ] People get hurt.

I'm going to need more information than that, Carl. This sounds important.
