Fleetsgiving Mingle [ Open to All ]

An invitation was sent out via the network to all of the Fleet, inviting them to come together for a night of feasting, dancing, and games.

Kirk has managed to procure an event space for what he has dubbed Fleetsgiving. It sports a warm, interior space, decorated with tables, including two longer ones for food and drink. Along the far wall is a fireplace, crackling away for warmth, chairs set around and a table for fireplace games. The entire room glows with lights set in draped garlands, candles, and dim lights, warm and inviting and offering intimacy for those who wish to find it. Kirk would take credit for the decor, but no, it was the product of the owners of the event space. Probably just as well, to be honest.

An open space at the center is open for dancing at one's leisure, music drifting through the air - loud enough for dancers to sway to a beat, but not loud enough to make conversation impossible. But, who knows, maybe towards the latter half of the evening when everyone has drunk enough, there will be a dance contest. There might also be a karaoke contest, but, really, that's up to the people.

There is some prepared food - something that looks like a kind of poultry and something like meatballs in a bright orange sauce. Kirk can't vouch for what sort of animals they came from, but he can vouch for them being delicious. Bread, jam spreads, butter, local nuts and crackers. For desert there are what look like tiny tarts, and cookies dusted in a sweet pink powder. But while there is food provided, there is plenty of room for others to bring their favorites from home, or even their favorites from being here in the Fleet.

Nothing was spared for drinks either. Local wines are set out in their bottles, ready to pour, fizzy drinks in cans and punch bowls, harder options for those who wished them further down, and water and juice for those less inclined to imbibe. While there isn't much room for additions, they are welcome.

By the fire are a number of games laid out for choice - cards, some board games, and even a chess set, though it is a touch odd. Three boards, at varying heights, on a curved stand. The way the seats are arranged make it comfortable for many to play at once, or for only a few to play and many to gather by the fire and watch or idly chatter.

Come one, come all, and have a good time!

[ Hell, he almost got his arm hacked off by his own dad to keep everyone else safe. Things were a little crazy. ]

I hope so, but I know my dad would blame himself. Michonne probably would, too. Judith is probably too young to even remember, I think.

[ Everyone else has their own way to cope, but they've all lost so much, what's one more thing? ]

I suppose it is fair payment for the ones you love.

I'd do it for anybody I cared about.

[ loki . . . certainly would not. he's not that kind of person. ]

Well. Let us see what the tree demands.

If the tree demands an eyeball, you're shit out of luck. [ That's okay, Loki. ]

[ loki smiles. ]

I think I could find a way around that.

[ at any rate, they can see the tree up ahead, not far off. ]

If anyone could, it'd be you, right?

[ He catches sight of the tree, and okay, it's impressive. ]

Whoa..

[ it is rather large and intimidating, though to loki, it barely registers. he stops in front of it with a hum, loki uses his magic to suss out the intricacies of the tree. then he lets his hand fall. ]

It needs something from us.

Can you tell what it wants? [ Loki is the coolest, okay? ]

It needs a form of contract. Either we confess a secret or perform a deed of value.

[ Oh...well. ] I don't have a lot of secrets.

No? That is surprising. Surely you have a few.

I don't think I'm a good person? But I don't think that counts as a secret so much as something I believe. [ At least back home, the others knew what he would consider something he doesn't exactly broadcast about himself. ] ..I killed my mom. Two years ago, and I still feel guilty about it- even if I had to do it.

[dothelokimotion]

[ loki stares. ]

She was dying, and I didn't want her to turn... [ He shakes his head. ] It had to be me.

[dothelokimotion]

Why you though? Why not anyone else?

Because it had to be someone who loved her. It was only me and Maggie, so...

[dothelokimotion]

I still don't see why that had to be you or someone who loved her. How does that make it easier?

It doesn't. It's hard to control things back home since everything happened. It's better when you're close, only because you know they're not wandering around like a shell of what they used to be, eating until their stomach rots out, or being killed by a stranger. At least that way, there was mercy.

[ mercy. it takes a strange shape here. loki isn't sure if he sees it as such. why burden someone you love with that kind of regret? ]

Is it truly if she put such a weight on your shoulders? My — I've never known a mother to ask such a thing of their children.

She didn't ask, she wouldn't have..but she told me that I have to do the right thing. That it's easy to do the wrong thing, so..if it's easy, I shouldn't do it.

[ loki hums. ]

There may be some truth in that. But I've always found that with limited choices, you should always look for the loophole. Otherwise, circumstances will trap you forever.

I guess I'm not really that smart, I wouldn't have even thought about looking for loopholes.
