Just Passing Through...
Who: The Interceptors… And You!!!
Broadcast: Yes -- ONLY over the private, non-Atroma network!
Action: Planetside
When: Network contact is RIGHT NOW, any planetside action begins ICly 2 days later at least.
[ Well, Fleet, long time no speak -- when it comes to addressing anyone, anyway. ♥ On the exclusive network, safely away from Atroma, an audio message appears, from your faraway pals! And on the other line is the very obvious voice of one particular Interceptor super scientist lady. ]
Drift Fleet Twelve, this is the Interceptor fleet. Based off our own trajectory, we're predicting that you guys are in the RR-0451 Aquilae system and - more importantly - near Libuscha IV. Can you confirm? A crewmate and I are in a shuttle right now, and we've got some... digging we'd like to do there.
[ There’s a new voice, one that Drift Fleet Twelve hasn’t heard before, in the background. And he sounds amused? ]
That’s one way of putting it… [ Can you just see the smirk now? The scientist continues as if there’d been no interruption.]
I'm attaching a file with some notes we've taken on a particular metal alloy that's naturally occurring and very abundant on that planet. It's apparently not that hard to find once you get far enough below the surface, and we have intel that there are vast cave networks. Have any of you guys seen those by chance?
And, uh… before we leave, we're probably gonna need to refuel while we're at it.
I told you we should have gotten gas before we hit the road, but did you listen to me? Nooooo...
Anyway! Since we'd be in the neighborhood - literally - we thought it might be a good chance to swing by and say hello, maybe share some stories, exchange some presents… [ Hey, someone mentioned ribbons to them - and they're happy to share this metal alloy, so… win/win? ] Discreetly, of course. What would Big Brother think if he knew, after all?

(( You can directly respond to this post if you wish to speak with the Interceptors over this newfangled secure network you created!! If you have a preference as to who responds, let us know somewhere in the comment or subject line.
If you wish to join them planetside to scour the caves for metals, help them restock and refuel, or just to try asking them some questions, each will have their own toplevel comment soon. And if for any reason you want to use this post for mingle purposes amongst yourselves, feel free to do so! ))

Re: Duo Maxwell
Force of habit means he's silent as he slides up behind Duo.]
Are you here for the dig? or perhaps to refuel and share some stories.
[He refers back to the words of the transmission.]
no subject
He smirked at the question, though.]
Oh, definitely. I heard there's some interesting stuff down in those caves. [He crossed his arms, amused look on his face.] Refueling's important, though. It's tough when your partner insists you have enough gas, and then suddenly you don't.
[So, yeah... definitely the voice Tim heard.]
no subject
I will admit, I'm new so refuelling hasn't exactly come up yet but I can't imagine it's a good habit to acquire when the alternative is being stuck in space. It's not exactly comparable to a car running out.
I'm Robin by the way.
no subject
[Duo smiled... a very knowing smile.]
I'm Duo. [He held out his hand in greeting.]
So, when'd you get here?
no subject
A few days ago, I was stuck for a little while on the big ship. The Marsiva? It was very.. boring to put it lightly.
How long have you been in space? Your ship doesn't appear to be part of the usual fleet. How does that work?
[God he's full of questions.]
no subject
[Duo shook his head a bit.]
I was born in space, but, if you're referring to this space, specifically, I've been here a while. Longer than anyone currently in the Fleet.
I'm not from Drift Fleet... at least, not in the sense you guys are. [He looked around for a second, and then nodded to one side, indicating a small café with booth seating.] Why don't we grab a bite to eat? [It would get them off the street.]
no subject
So you're not from Drift Fleet but you run with a crew that sometimes runs into them?
no subject
[Duo settled down, though he was no less aware of his surroundings. If "Robin" hadn't taken the wall seat first, he certainly would have. Instead, he sat somewhat sideways to the table for now.
As he started, his voice lowered in volume, and his demeanor shifted to something much more serious than the casual laidback attitude he had on first meeting.]
We're part of a group called the Interceptors. We've been trying to help you guys get free of the Atroma, but without the problems we had during our attempt. We were successful, relatively speaking, but not without some major losses.
no subject
How did you go about doing that anyway? How does this show even end?
no subject
[Duo frowned a little, but then waited because he'd spotted an approaching waitress. He ordered whatever the equivalent was on this ice ball of a planet for coffee, and then they waited for Tim. The waitress left after Tim either ordered or said he didn't want anything.]
As far as us? It wasn't easy. We've been poking at other ideas since, hoping to find something better for you guys to use. Sometimes, certain nebulas can interfere with the signals Atroma's using, but... [He shrugged.] It causes a lot of problems. We've had heavy losses.
no subject
I'm sorry for your losses. I can understand not wanting to repeat that experience especially since the fleet doesn't appear to be in immediate danger. Although someone did mention cannibals and pirates.
no subject
There's still a lot we don't know, though. A lot they've managed to keep secret.
[Duo dumped a load of this planet's equivalent sugar and half-and-half into his drink before even attempting to see if it was too hot, yet. A little... so he'd wait a few more minutes before really drinking it.]
no subject
I suppose not actively wishing us harm is better than the opposite. I wonder why they kidnap though; even a cursory glance at television programming on my world would prove that they'd get hundreds of willing participants if they asked.
I suppose I'll have to keep up some information gathering from the inside then. Is the new network a safe way to contact your ship for verification and information exchange?
Tell me about this metal alloy we're going digging for then?
no subject

no subject
[The sciency types in their little rebel Fleet liked to do that.]
no subject
Will we be able to take some back to the main fleet? I'd be interested in seeing what we can get from it.
no subject
[Duo finished off his coffee.]
So, you up for helping dig?
no subject
[Tim will call back the waitress and order another for both of them]
And yes I'll be there for the dig, if you'll allow it.
no subject
[Duo gave the waitress a nod of thanks.]
Of course. It's just me and the Mrs Doctor, so we'll some help if we want to keep our stay short. Don't need Atroma tracking us down, you know?
no subject
no subject
You can count on it.
[He got up, putting down a few credits to cover his part of the bill.]
I'll see you around.
