[ Well, Fleet, long time no speak -- when it comes to addressing anyone, anyway. ♥ On the exclusive network, safely away from Atroma, an audio message appears, from your faraway pals! And on the other line is the very obvious voice of one particular Interceptor super scientist lady. ]

Drift Fleet Twelve, this is the Interceptor fleet. Based off our own trajectory, we're predicting that you guys are in the RR-0451 Aquilae system and - more importantly - near Libuscha IV. Can you confirm? A crewmate and I are in a shuttle right now, and we've got some... digging we'd like to do there.

[ There’s a new voice, one that Drift Fleet Twelve hasn’t heard before, in the background. And he sounds amused? ]

That’s one way of putting it… [ Can you just see the smirk now? The scientist continues as if there’d been no interruption.]

I'm attaching a file with some notes we've taken on a particular metal alloy that's naturally occurring and very abundant on that planet. It's apparently not that hard to find once you get far enough below the surface, and we have intel that there are vast cave networks. Have any of you guys seen those by chance?

And, uh… before we leave, we're probably gonna need to refuel while we're at it.

I told you we should have gotten gas before we hit the road, but did you listen to me? Nooooo...

Anyway! Since we'd be in the neighborhood - literally - we thought it might be a good chance to swing by and say hello, maybe share some stories, exchange some presents… [ Hey, someone mentioned ribbons to them - and they're happy to share this metal alloy, so… win/win? ] Discreetly, of course. What would Big Brother think if he knew, after all?

[ Aaaand two days later, she's exactly where she said she would be! She's got a bag with an embroidered butterfly-shaped symbol full of God knows what slung over her shoulder, and a pick-axe by her side. When someone she guesses is probably from the Fleet approaches, she waves. ]

Happy - what did you call it? Candlenights? That.

[Lup's probably easy to pick out amongst the average locals- decked out in colourful but clearly functional adventurer's gear, with a bag of her own at her side and a painted cooking spoon and spellbook strapped to her belt. She flashes the woman a smile and returns the wave, pushing away from the wall she'd been leaning against while she waited.]

[ Oh hey, someone's an adventuring type! Awesome. ]

Absolutely. [ She starts for the cave entrance and motions for Lup to follow. ] Been a while since I've actually been in a cave, but I'm sure it's just like riding a bicycle.

No doubt. And if you have any hiccups, no worries, you're traveling with a pro.

[She takes a moment to look the woman up and down as they walk. A bag and a pickaxe... not much in the way of recognizable equipment, but looks can be deceiving.]

First things first- I'm Lup, your friendly neighbourhood wizard. Who are you, and what can you do? So I know what I'm working with, here.

Dr. Mrs. The Monarch You can call me Monarch. And I can do a few different things, but for the most part, I provide the gadgets.

[ Speaking of! She reaches into her pocket as they walk, pulls out a round device the size of a compact mirror, and flips it open. It pings once, quietly. Metal detector! ]

I've met a few wizards in my time, and I'll be honest, the ones from worlds that aren't mine are usually much better at it. [ She cracks a bit of a smirk. ] What kind of magic you got?

[Lup laughs, lifting her shoulders in a shrug.]

It might be faster if I told you the kind of magic I don't have. Pretty sure there's a wizard spell for just about anything. All the fun elements, illusion, transmutation, bit of necromancy... just don't ask me to heal, and we're golden.

No healing, got it. So if anything big and nasty finds us, we just have to kick its ass first. No problem.

[ 100% not even sarcasm - she's absolutely sure they've totally got this shit. ]

What about teleportation? Ever done any of that?

[necromanswers]

[She shoots the woman an exaggerated thumbs up, obviously in favour of that idea. Hell yeah, cause a ruckus. That's her style. Already she likes this lady.]

I know a few teleportation spells, though they have some rules. Short distance is easy-peasy if we need a quick getaway. Actual teleportation? Kinda tricky, but I can probably get us there if I know the place we're headed. I can only do that one once, by the way.

I wasn't really thinking about us - though that's still good to know. I was actually thinking... if this alloy responds to different kinds of magic in different ways, like what we've been told, I'm interested in seeing what happens if we, say, throw it through a portal. Or blip it from one place to another. You know?

[necromanswers]

Oooh, gotcha. Yeah, sorry, can't help you there. My teleports are for people, not chunks of metal. I can take it through a Dimension Door while you watch, if you want? It's probably less of a big deal if it goes boom around me.

[Lots of HP to spare! and technically an extra body, though she doesn't want to lose this one. But hey, science is all about experimenting.]
