[ Open ] No, I Don't Want to Build a Snowman
Who: Jim Kirk & You!
Broadcast: No
Action: Yes, Planetside
When: All Month Long
a: hot springs
What's the best thing about cold planets? Hot springs. The fact that they glowed was an intriguing bonus.
But when didn't have some sort of self-proclaimed mission or errand, or wasn't trying one of the restaurants, he could be found in the hot springs. He was certainly becoming a familiar face with those who ran the places, and the climb to the springs and back down was helping him work off his indulgences. If the springs have another features, like, say, massages, he might just partake of that too.
Essentially, he might as well be living at these places if he has to be planet side. Look, he can't just avoid the planet - that's boring. So he might as well make the most of it.
"Hey, decided to come and try it for yourself, huh? Well, I can assure you - the water feels just fine."
b: culinary adventures
If there is one thing Kirk truly does delight in when they come to a new planet, it's the chance to try the culinary delicacies of said planet. He does have to be a little careful considering his allergies and one never knew exactly what would trigger a new one. Or kill you. But hey! That's the fun risk of trying to new things, right?
So he can easily be found across different cafe's and restaurants on the planet, a variety of dishes and drinks to be tasted. If he sees anyone he knows, he'll likely call them over to join him, or insist they join him for a meal. He especially seems drawn to anything selling sweets. What can he say? He has a bit of a sweet tooth.
And thank god for hot drinks on a cold planet. All the hot drinks please. Even better if they're just a bit spiked. You know, for fun.
c: gift shopping
'Tis the season, as they say, and while he knows some of his friends on the ships might not partake of the "Christmas", he certainly does, and that means gifts. Which are always much, much harder to shop for than one might imagine. It's not a math equation, or even a dissertation on the destruction of a certain space ship and the "lightning storm" in space that caused the event.
Nope, those were definitely easier than shopping for gifts. Especially for a wedding gift, which felt equally impossible given whom he was shopping for.
But he was giving it a good go by the amount of bags he had in hand, brightly colored paper popping out of the tops or in brightly colored plastic bags themselves. He could honestly give someone a seizure for the amount of colors, and he made a bit of a sight trying to fit through doors to new shops.
Help a guy out?
d: wild card
Surprise me! Want to go play a sport? Go visit the tree together? Take a tour of the castle? Visit a bar? Anything else not listed? Let's do it!

[ He moved closer to Remy, slipping his arm around him and bringing the other against him. He reached up, smoothing his finger over that unsure brow, wanting to smooth the pucker. He didn't like that sort of look on Remy, not unless it was caused from pleasure in their bed. ]
You don't have to tell me all of it, if you don't want to. You can tell me the rest when you're ready.
[ He had questions and was curious, but he wouldn't hurt Remy by pressing for details - details that, as far as he could tell, would not effect their relationship as it stood. And he cared more about Remy than he did about satisfying his curiosity. ]
no subject
[He did want to kiss Jim then, but also not risk it with the cold, so instead just pressed his cheek against his, hoping it conveyed the same feeling.]
no subject
[ He leaned his cheek against Remy's, knowing the gesture for what it was, feeling it. He made a soft sound in the back of his throat, arms wrapping around his lover, crinkling into his coat. ]
I guess this is the part where I tell you a secret, huh?
no subject
I guess so, if this even be true 'bout it all. [Then a pause.] Though, even if it ain't, glad I finally told ya that. Never felt like a good time to do so, so... guess this be worth it even if we don't get 'nything.
no subject
Slowly he pulled back, keeping his arms around Remy as he took a breath. ]
I'm completely terrified of waking up and one day you won't be there. Not in the "I went to the bathroom" or "I went to work" kind of way. But in the way you were the first time - just, gone, like you never even existed.
no subject
I know, [He answered,] I don't think 'bout it but... yeah, I get it. Both that way 'nd other way 'round. I don't wanna leave. I miss home, I miss m' family, I miss work... but I don't wanna lose what I made here, 'nd that 'ncludes ya 'nd us. [Cupping Jim's face now and stroking his thumb over his cheek like his fingers had before.] 'nd I hate the idea of leavin' ya here. [Not alone, Jim would have friends, support. But just not in the same way.] 'nd the thought of ya goin' back 'nd- [He needed to cut himself off without finishing that thought, feeling like it was too deep a hole he could go spiraling down and have trouble digging himself back out of.]
All just been easier not to think 'bout it.
no subject
Hot tears blurred his vision for a moment, leaning his face into the touch of fingers on his cheek. ]
I know.
[ He didn't elaborate. He knew Remy would understand as he understood Remy. It was an unspoken thing between them, and speaking it aloud was like driving spikes into his chest, twisting at his heart. ]
I know one day it will probably happen. I do. And I worry - I worry there won't be anything of you left.
no subject
But he couldn't make himself do this, not with this.
Leaning in once again, Remy rested his forehead against Jim's for a moment. Just resting there in silence before gently mumbling.] Then we fix that. We get something so we know we had the other here. Something that be just for us, not something the other owned, but something we both owned.
It won't be the same, but it'll be something.

[ They were so alike in some things. In that urge to laugh and to joke and to push aside the aches and let them go untouched. If Remy had tried, then, to laugh, Kirk wasn’t sure if he could have remained. Baring your heart, part of your soul, hurts so much more than he had thought. But Remy’s suggestion manages to ease a bandage over his heart, make him sniffle and nod his forehead against Remy’s. ]
Before we leave this planet. Something - just for us.

[ He did laugh at that, sniffing and wiping at his face, hot from unshead tears, itchy at the corners of his eyes. Damn it, he hadn't expected any of this, but... but maybe it was for the best. To say it now, before he suddenly found himself without any more chances. ]
Yeah, not rings. We can find something. I don't think necklaces either... maybe bracelets?
[ He leaned in and laid his head on Remy's shoulder, hugging him close. ]
no subject
Nothin' too fancy though, not like tennis bracelet of 'nything, nothin' too shiny. [Then a light chuckle to keep the warmer feel going.] 'nd I do like the excuse to go shoppin' 'nd spend money.
no subject
[ Remy’s head on his was a comfort, warm and smelling of the spice that always seemed to follow him around. ]
I can’t even imagine you with a tennis bracelet.
[ He leaned back and then in, kissing Remy gently. ]
Bracelets it is, though.

[And Remy was surprised how little his brain was freaking out over this; the idea of a matching items between them. He would think he should be, after what happened with Bella. But... having seen Jim that sad, with that much fear... it had driven it away. That need to prove what they had was special, was something they both needed, that had trumped that fear.
He let out a sigh before breaking away long enough to wipe his palm over his face again, but still smiling,] Merde, this felt like more than 'nough baggage for the day, hein? I like m' 'motional growth in bite size pieces. [Before pushing the joking aside to clarify his earlier statements.] But do mean what I said before, if ya do got questions or... willin' to listen, will tell ya 'bout Bella. Just... in a warmer place. Fire place, hot chocolate, ooh, or brandy 'nstead. I like the sound of that.
no subject
I have questions, but we can talk about when you're ready for it too.
[ He smiled softly, kissing his forehead. ]
Speaking of warmer though - maybe we should head back? I like my time in the cold in the same bite sizes you like your emotional growth. And I can think of quite a few fun things to do with the whipped cream that traditionally comes on top of hot chocolate.
no subject
Ya know, [A bit of a sigh.] Not that really had 'nything in mind, but would had been nice to get something. Guess stories in this case weren't right. [Ah well. Though, considering it all, it still felt a need to press a hug to Jim, and Remy did just that. He held it for several long moments before moving back so they could head to the boat.] Come on then, I wanna see just what ya got in mind for that cream.
no subject
[ Kirk didn't fight the hug, holding the other in return. It was nice, being hugged. He very much liked that Remy was far more tactile and willing to be with him than Fenris had been. He huffed against his neck when he began to pull back, giving a last squeeze and taking his hand to head back to their little boat, cocking his head when he saw the bit of white cloth folded on the seat. ]
What wasn't there before, was it?
[ Gingerly he reached out to touch the material, feeling cotton. Curious, he picked it up and then laughed, turning to show Remy the price - a vintage NASA logo tshirt. ]
no subject
[Though, now Remy was curious, he didn't see anything around that might be for him so... was he just out of luck.] 'nything else on the boat?
no subject
[ He didn't dare disrobe to put it on, but he did carefully fold it up and hug it close to his chest, looking back to the tree and nodding in thanks. ]
Um... maybe? Was there something you wanted?
no subject
Or m' bike. That would be nice too. 'nd gas to go in it. [Remy then shrugged it off as he moved to get into the boat so they could head out. Unlike Jim's, Remy's gift will be found later, tucked away in the pocket of one of the layers he was wearing; his old rosary from home.]
no subject
Don't get greedy, now. We still have to make it back to shore. Maybe it'll show up on the way.
[ He nudged him with his hip and made for the boat, ready to be out of the cold and in the warmth of a cabin and blankets and a fire and his lover. ]
