( Sansa enjoys the systems that are cold and this one is no exception. This planet is full of ice and snow and the people are warm and kind the way she remembers the North being when she was a child. They do love music, impossibly so, and so she decides to sing a few of the songs she knows down in a cafe when some others are singing their own. It's nice to learn new things to sing and she has one of the new songs on the tip of her tongue as she goes to get a cup of warm tea, needing to stave off the chill. When she sees someone she recognizes from the Fleet, she steps back a bit and allows them to step to the counter first. )
Oh, did you want anything? Far be it from me to be in your way - how rude of me.
> > > stitching time
( Lord Akeldama's waistcoat was coming along nicely and rather than sew up in the Fleet, Sansa has chosen to do it down in a cozy corner near a fire in a bookstore down on the planet. She has a little basket of sewing things she's bought from her small supply of credits and she's hoping a few others will take her up on the offer to make things for them. She sends a message out to the Fleet indicating the same, that anyone can come and put in a commission. She sews fast and accurate; Sansa doesn't think it will take her long to turn out a few pieces and earn a bit of money. For now, though, it's Lord Akeldama's waistcoat and she's just pricked her finger. She makes a soft sound and brings the wounded finger to her lips to suck it. )
Ouch! You'd think I would be better at this.

You can indulge me with your company from time to time. I think that's the only thing that will ever be required. Otherwise, I'd only talk to Jim Kirk and my husband, and that's quite a small circle for someone who used to be the lady of a castle.
( She pauses for a moment, reflecting. )
I used to be afraid of men. Men in my world only want one thing from a woman like me and I've been married twice over. It's nice to know that not all men are like that and that sometimes good acts aren't under false pretenses. That is all the payment I need from you.

Whenever you feel lonely then, ask me. We're on the same ship; I would not mind spending some of our time there with you.
[His face falls a little at her words. It's plain enough, the implications of what she may have been through, but he doesn't have to like it. Bucky may not have regained everything of memory or self, but certain things he thinks are universal.]
I would not push myself on you like that. I promise you. There are things about me that I think would make you uncomfortable, but I would never do that to you.

( Sansa has missed the part of her who used to delight in the company of others, the part of her that wanted to laugh and sing and thought everything was a song. She's not nearly so naive now, of course not, but it is nice to know she doesn't have to always look over her shoulder. )
I'll do what I can to help you, too. If you need anything, you only need to ask. I can make you clothes or accompany you somewhere or just talk. Whatever is needed.

[He forces the thought away though, because it's easy enough to dwell and that's not something to which he wants to subject Sansa; it's not fair to her.]
But I do know what it is to be used, and I won't allow myself to do that to you. And if you fear you are being used, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would step in to prevent it.
[But here she is offering so much more, even after everything she's offered already. It really makes him wonder, that a soul who could suffer so much could remain so kind. And that someone like him could be allowed to associate with her.]
I wouldn't say no to your tailoring help, if you'd tell me what I'd need to supply you with. There are times that having my left arm visible is not advantageous. But that's only if you let me do something in return for you.
no subject
I could make you things, that's no trouble. I'll have to get your measurements, of course, but after that I could keep them and continue to make things without having to re-measure. As to what you could give me, well.
I hope I am not making a terrible assumption here, forgive me if I am - but if you know anything about defense combat, I'd like to learn. I've taken lessons from Jim, of course, but one ought to know from other sources. All knowledge is worth having.
no subject
Whatever you need, we'll make it happen. [He can't hide the amused sound, almost a chuckle.] I don't think its measurements will change too much.
You make a kinder assumption than most. I can work with you to figure out what's suitable for how you move. It would be a far more pleasant use of my skills than I've experienced in my past.
no subject
( Part of it is being unsure of herself, honestly, and that will only go away as she learns how to move. Part of it, though, is her nature as a lady. Sansa doesn't think she'll ever shake that off. )
You may regret agreeing to help.
no subject
[Though it goes without saying that he hopes she'd never have to use anything he could teach her.]
This is probably much too forward, but I doubt I could regret spending time with you. And if nothing truly comes of it, then we'll have to turn it to dancing instead, and I'd consider it no loss.
no subject
Well, I won't be upset about dancing either. I so rarely get a chance to indulge myself in it - my husband is not a dancer.
no subject
If your husband won't mind, I'd be happy to partner you. We could easily make our sessions both combat and dancing, and it would give me a better idea of how you move.
no subject
( Tyrion is the only person within the Fleet to know the true extent of what has happened to her and she knows he wouldn't want it to happen again. She's certain of it. )
As to the dancing? Well, it's all in good fun.
no subject
[Not that he's anticipating Sansa needing to defend herself as soon as that, though life is unpredictable. Still this might be good for both of them.]
It is in good fun. And it will be fun.
no subject
( Sansa's actually eager to learn from him. She's learned some from Jim, and wants to continue, but she doesn't think learning from more than one person will be bad. Rather, it might help her prepare for all sorts of situations. )
no subject
[Knowing too that they'll have to leave this system eventually, it will be nice to have an activity to occupy themselves while they fly to wherever it is the Fleet is bound next.]
no subject
You might end up dressing smarter than you intend to, Bucky. I’m quite good with a needle.
( Perhaps a lady is supposed to be modest about talent and Sansa normally is but not about how good she is at making things - she has made dresses out of practically nothing before. )
I’ll start getting some rough ideas for when we meet next?
no subject
[He knows there was a time but the memories are still fuzzy and more unreal than concrete.]
That sounds fine to me, but don't rush yourself if inspiration doesn't come. I don't mind waiting.
no subject
I can assure you that I will not be making you any tactical gear. You ought to be able to dress like something other than a soldier, I think. It's only fair.
no subject
[It's almost contemplative. The possibility has certainly been presented to him just by matter of being here, but he's still not sure what to make of it. Or if he even can make anything of it.]
If you mean to help with that as well, I feel it's only fair to warn you that you might have your hands full.
no subject
Don't worry, I don't mind having my hands full. An occupied mind is one that doesn't have time to dwell on unpleasant things, after all.
no subject
[As much as she is in trusting him to train her, he supposes. It will be nice, he thinks, to be able to use his skills for some good, and she does have a point about the mind staying occupied.]
