May the Best of your Todays be the Worst of your Tomorrows
The morning of the final day of the year - called Last Eve - brings with it a soft, gentle chorus of bells. No matter what town or city you've found yourself in, the tradition is the same: a simple scale plays every hour throughout the day - a melodic, slow countdown to all the festivities to come tonight. People - especially children! - run through the streets ringing hand-held bells of their own, all in the name of good luck and best wishes for the upcoming year. Don't want to wait for the night to start the party? Don't worry! There's plenty to do all day long, too!

A ringing melody in the wind
You thought the festivals throughout the month were extravagant? Well, they're nothing compared to the parades today! Marching bands, performers, and dance crews show off routines they've been preparing for months, candy flies through the air for all of the parade-goers to catch and keep... The floats are elaborate and grand, with humongous shapes in bright colors. A lot of heart, soul, and expert craftsmanship went into these, and it shows. Some parades have set themes, others are just a representation of the towns that give them and what they've put together to share with everyone... but all of them are full of love, joy, and good luck wishes for the upcoming year. Maybe you're part of the parade - riding on a float, tossing out candy, singing or playing an instrument... or maybe you're just there to watch! No matter which way, it's going to be a good time.
The waters may be too cold to swim in, but that's why boats exist! Once the sun goes down, the natural glow of the water is even more breathtaking set against the black, starry skies -- and local tradition is to spend Last Eve out on the water in some way! From rowboats, paddle boats, and sailboats to motorized party boats with loudly blasting music and flashing lights, or huge luxury liners with all the fancy trimmings of fine dining and entertainment -- no matter what kind of boat you want, you're going to have a great time ringing in the new year on the water. Get your party boat on! Or, spend a romantic evening with your loved one on a crewed private charter! Or, row out on your own and meet up with other rowers. Bring snacks~ and a life vest - safety first!
The best part, though, isn't Last Eve... it's First Dawn. Once it gets closer and closer to midnight, and the bells begin to chime louder, and faster, and more jubilant... that's when the real light show begins.

Light up the skies!
Almost every inch of the night sky is covered in bright lights and brilliant hues as fireworks soar through the black. The breathtaking display reflects in the glowing waters, which seem to mimic all the colors back like a visual echo. And with the backdrop of the bells' song, this is how the new year comes to Libuscha IV.
So - Happy Last Eve, and Happy First Dawn. Enjoy your holiday, dear Fleet. ♥

[ he plucks a sweet out of his dimensional pocket, popping it in his mouth to prove his point. ]
So don't complain or you won't get any.
[ not that loki was going to share. ]
no subject
There are people throwing it at us, I can get my own!
no subject
Oh? Good luck then.
no subject
I won't need luck, but thank you anyway.
no subject
Of course not. When have you ever needed such a thing?
no subject
[There are some things in his life that have come down to luck, if he's honest. Jane being the first person he met on Earth. Ending up on the same planet as Bruce. For the most part however Thor isn't content to wait for fortune to be in his favour.]
At least you've found something to do down here.
no subject
I suppose I have, if only for a little while. I do not plan on lingering here.
no subject
[He's sure Loki's already scoped out this sort of information... but just in case he was entirely sidetracked by candy theft, he'll mention it anyway.]
I've heard there will be a lights display in the nighttime.
no subject
[ a pause. ]
I received the Casket recently.
no subject
The Casket? [But as soon as the words are out of his mouth realisation makes his eyes widen. There's only one casket both of them know of.] --you found it here?
no subject
It was given to me. By that . . . tree.
no subject
[He doesn't need further explanation. The tree had given him something too, after talking about his banishment and attack on Jotunheim. There's some strange irony in the tree giving them both something related to the realm of the Frost Giants.
For lack of a better thing to do, Thor crosses his arms, brow furrowing in thought.]
It gave me something as well, though nothing so powerful as the Casket. [Something occurs to him then, having not thought about the Casket in years.] Do you... have it with you?
no subject
Here it is.
no subject
--okay! Okay. You could have just said yes.
no subject
You asked!
no subject
[Thor sighs, rubbing at his face. They had both grown up on tales of what the Casket could do. The fact that this was a crowded area had made him startle much easier. The chattering and applause around them is strangely centering. He looks at Loki again, remembering the hesitation from before.]
I had thought it lost in Ragnarok. You can't have expected to see it again.
no subject
[ there is a little venom there, but it's directly mostly at the idea that someone thought the casket was his. that he had any link to the frost giants. it rankled even now. ]
But it is here, regardless of that.
no subject
So it seems. I also got something that was lost in the fires... I don't know if that tree is trying to make a point of it.
no subject
Perhaps. Perhaps not.
What did you get?
no subject
[He doesn't specify which one, because they both know there was only one helm Thor wore once he reached adulthood. Shaking his head, Thor looks over the crowds to where a parade float of costumed dancers trails past.]
I haven't even thought of that thing in years. Now it's on my desk.
no subject
[ what a waste. ]
no subject
[Maybe if they end up on another cannibal planet the helm will have its time again. The bite leaves Thor's voice as he regards Loki again, his own tree-gift forgotten.]
What will you do with it? The Casket.
[It's a simple question only, no accusation lurking behind it. It doesn't stop some wariness entering his voice, as the Casket was a dangerous item to have around.]
no subject
[ but loki looks away, a sure sign he's uncomfortable. ]
What can be done with it anyway? It's a relic. It was meant to be forgotten.
no subject
Certainly it wasn't meant to be used again. [Not by Odin, and therefore his father likely intended it to never be used by anyone.] Forgotten or not, it can still be used. Is it safe where you're keeping it?
[Can a Casket burn through Loki's magic?]
