+1 new business
Who: Mikleo / OTA (featuring Sorey)
Broadcast: Yes
Action: Iskaulit, Huntress
When: Today!
[The comm clicks on to an active video stream, where a mostly-empty Iskaulit room has some sparse decor- a long table, a couple of chairs, some sort of design board, and a... mannequin? A very crude-looking one, anyway.
Suddenly a hefty-looking box - some might recognize the familiar appearance of a sponsor drop - floats into view, is plopped down on the floor, and opened. Long swatches of fabric are pulled out and draped over the edges, some soft and beautiful, others rather silly looking. Once it seems as if enough of the fabrics are on display, someone huffs quietly.]
Apparently someone thinks I ought to be sewing more- or, more likely, they want us all looking presentable. Much as I don't like indulging our audience, we all know how dull time between planets can get, and I've been thinking about this for a while anyway, so... I guess you can call this my unofficial sewing shop? At least, I'm open to taking project commissions. It doesn't have a name or anything... oh, this is Mikleo, for those who don't know. I don't show up on camera, sorry.
Let's see, examples of my work... ah, Sorey, here-
[There's a bit of shuffling and quiet voices, and Sorey is prodded into view, clad in an intricately embroidered tunic. He waves awkwardly.]
This is a replica of one he used to have at home, so if you need a redesign or modification of an existing piece, I can do that. And hang on-
[Sorey is dragged off. More shuffling about, and a moment later he's back wearing something a little less fantasy. This is repeated a couple of times to showcase differing style and skill level, until at last his poor model is released from duty.]
You get the idea. Anyway, if you want to make an order, I'll be over on the Iskaulit for a while, or we can hash things out with the communicator until we're ready to take measurements. For pricing...
...I have no idea how to even decide that. At least the cost of materials, I suppose.
[how do i capitalism]
( action; )
[True to his word, Mikleo will be hanging out in his new Iskaulit room, decorating it and organizing the mess of fabrics he's had dumped upon him. Come visit! And for those who don't know him, Mikleo is a spirit so check out his resonance permissions, eyyy. If you can't see or hear him, be sure to bring your communicator!
Later, Mikleo will be back on the Huntress, spending some time in the lounge or in his room as he sketches out some designs for new projects or gets some sewing done on current ones.]

[Sure, he's been making stuff for himself since he was little, and some for Sorey, but that doesn't mean he knows the ins and outs of every style, or how to measure other creatures or body types. It's a whole new world for him!]
You're welcome to come by and give me something to work on, though.

[That's what tips are for, maybe.]
You'll need to take my measurements. I'd venture a guess that we're fairly similar in size, but my arms might be shorter... [He's not sure, but sleeves tend to run long on him.] I can come over in a bit if you have some time. I have a few ideas for what I'd like.

Come whenever you like. I'll be here for a while, as I have a lot of organizing left to do.
no subject
... Do you need help organizing?
[Uh oh. He kind of enjoys this sort of thing, weirdly enough.]

[It's a biiiiig box. Someone was stockpiling for a while.]

[Even he and Sorey weren't that fast! Though the lack of too many books in Elysia may have contributed partially to that.]

I did try to read the whole library, though. I think I got through about a quarter of it.

[He's trying not to be nosy, but he actually doesn't know that much about Belth's past, considering how long they've been acquainted.]

I can read about fifteen books a week, maybe twenty if I push myself and don't do much else, but I had to do everything for the magister to keep his estate running. I didn't just want to read every book, though. I wanted to learn all the magic that was in them, and studying takes much longer.

[He nods in agreement on the magic bit.]
Abilities and magic is definitely a different story. If you try rushing that it could just blow up in your face.

It often did. I had books as my tutors, so subtlety was lost on me. That was why I learned alchemy-- I couldn't heal myself if I got hurt, so I made salves instead.

[He knows that humans can't use magic without seraphim where he's from, but every world has such differing rules...]

I can't imagine wearing plate armor, regardless. I would make a terrible paladin.
[He decides to offer a little bit more background, since Mikleo is so curious.]
My sister-- my blood sister-- she showed aptitude for the healing arts at a young age and then became a priestess. I think she could have been a mage, too, if she wanted to.

[That's so interesting! Familiar, but not as limiting as humans.]
Your world has a lot of options when it comes to pursuing magical studies, it sounds like.

Even the most mild manifestation of magical talent could help someone become an alchemist or tailor. Magic can empower a hunter's arrows, or help them forge a bond with a magical creature as a companion. Warriors can reflect spells. Rogues can use magic to slip by undetected. It's really a part of everything.
But serious people study books. There are no shortcuts when it comes to learning magic.

[From the mouth of one true nerd to another.]
