[Frankly the amount of time Mirage gets on the SS Marsiva is far too short for even the beginnings of an introduction to this whole space show business. She wakes up in her bunk and immediately understands this isn't the dorms and isn't even the Macross Elysion or anything like that. Wherever she is she was plucked straight from her VF unit, flight suit and all.

So this starts right out as a recon mission in her mind. However she ended up here she's alone and has to find her own way back. She's barely stepped out of her room with a grimly serious expression, noting the people just walking through the hallways like it's no big deal she's standing out here.

And then woosh, she's ... being covered in confetti?

There's music?

Mirage is just sort of stuck in place, eyes wide and expression befuddled. And then she makes out her first disbelieving words to any gathered crew there.]

... Pudding?

[What's going on here?!]

[Alright, so things have been explained. Sort of? There's a ship and a fleet and some kind of show, that much she's gathered by now. She's been several hours roaming the SS Starduck and getting to know it's general layout, in particular where the shuttles are stored and such.

Now she's getting down to communicating across the other ships, a need to test the system being her primary excuse. She's wearing a stern, no nonsense expression here.]

I have been briefed on my current status and situation. [And now maybe just a touch angrier in tone.] I don't exactly appreciate this sort of treatment but--

[Ahem. Stay focused, Mirage. Treat this like a report or something similar, anger won't do much good.
She sighs out loud.]

My name is Mirage Jenius. Currently I am stationed aboard the SS Starduck. If there are others here from the Xaos company or the Macross Elysion, please respond.

[... How do you end one of these broadcasts? Mirage's stern expression briefly falters, a moment of confusion peeking through. Observant eyes will catch the tips of her ears reddening just slightly before she rushes through the rest.]

[Well hello there, familiar face! Kaname's responding immediately, because arrival can be jarring, and she hasn't seen the pilot in over a year now. Unfortunately, Q-Lulu is out of reach at the moment, but that can be addressed later.]

Mirage! [Okay, she sounds more excited than she intends, but it doesn't matter. The singer can't help but smile.] You've got the basic information down it sounds like. I wouldn't expect anything else.

[ Welp, that's a familiar fanfare!

Escha pokes her head out of the lab, spots the new person, and immediately stops whatever she's doing to go greet her! She waves as she walks up, smiling. ]

It's safe to eat, promise. Um, welcome to the Starduck!

[Mirage tries not to visibly breathe a sigh of relief because this isn't a great thing but... whew, she actually glad to see the singer.]

I believe so. The other crew members were very helpful in that regard.

[More to the point.]

You're alright, yes?

[Mirage whips around to face Escha, still wide-eyed. And then her stance begins to visibly relax. Escha isn't exactly hostile or rushing her at first sight so she's going to assume she's somewhat safe for now.]

I... see.

[She looks back to the pudding and just... no wait, never mind the pudding!]

What quadrant are we in? Have you heard of a planet called Ragna?

[The redhead nods in understanding.] Most are welcoming in that regard.

[Aw, Mirage. Kaname chuckles.]

Perfectly fine, thanks. Have they mentioned how time works a little differently here? If not, it's something I should get out of the way.

[Ah. Well. This could complicate things a little bit. If she's from... after... hopefully Kaname can help him avoid a repeat of the first time this happened - that is, when he'd been the one to arrive and he'd had a gun pointed in his direction under the guise of being some sort of trick. Regardless, using the communicator is the safer bet for the moment. He has no interest in dying a second time.]

Lieutenant, status report.

[Based on all that Kaname's told him, he's curious to know what she remembers from home.]

[Connor had already been on the bridge before Mirage makes her entrance, sitting at the communications station and doing a routine scan for any incoming signals. When the music bursts out, he stiffens and whirls around in his seat to see -- a girl, looking immensely confused. The LED over his left temple spins yellow for a second before going back to blue.

The jingle and the confetti only signify one thing in this place, so whatever surprise he had was smoothed over quickly. He's calm and collected when he speaks.]

Yes, pudding. It's part of what counts for an introduction to the ship.

[Getting to his feet he steps over to where Mirage is, noting the flight suit with some interest. Not what one would consider civilian attire.]

You're on the SS Starduck. My name is Connor; you must have some questions.

You're all business, aren't ya?

[Normally he wouldn't even respond, but seeing any elves - space, fantasy, or otherwise - is always interesting to him.]

You going to start spouting off nonsense about mission briefings and quarterly earnings next?

What works differently with time?

[She sounds equal parts confused and curious. It's not as if she has had some wacky out of body space experiences and such but messing with time itself hasn't really been an issue yet.]

We do, in a way. [Kaname presses her lips together, considering how to explain it. With Mirage, the straight forward approach seems best.]

People can arrive from different points in time, then they're returned to that exact moment, no one ever realizing they left, themselves included. An example would be me: I've been here for over a year. Freyja's been here at least twice, and Mikumo was here as well.

[She gives the pilot time to digest that.]

The deceased can also be brought here.

[Mirage directs her wide-eyed gaze over to Connor, then blinks a time or two. Pudding as an introduction? She frowns at that, more over the absurdity than anything he's said so far.

Then she sighs, letting her shoulders droop along with her ears. A hand rises to rub at the side of her head.]

Just a few.

[Her tone suggests exasperation.]

[Alright. Shake it off, Mirage. She straightens back up, squares up her shoulders and all that.]

Where is the SS Starduck in relation to Earth? Do you know of planet Ragna or the Macross Elysion?

[An ear subtly twitches.]

I like to get down to business if possible. There's no reason to mess around, particularly in this sort of situation.

[Bucky's relatively new to this kidnapped-to-a-spaceship thing himself; as such, he misses the confetti-and-pudding fanfare that signals a new arrival to the ship. The plus side? It does mean that their introduction happens in a hallway instead of on the bridge though. The ship is only so big and the crew relatively small; running into each other was bound to happen sooner or later. At least it's not a literal running into and more of a passing by.]

New here, or just visiting?

[Digest that she does. Or tries to anyhow. Her brow visibly furrows and she runs over the thought of Freyja popping up and Mikumo as well. Two Freyja's in fact, though not at the same time. It's hard to fathom but there's not reason for Kaname to lie to her so...

Now the last part... well.]

[She trips up on her words.]

I don't doubt you but...

[There seems to be something both cruel and kind in such a resurrection. Playing with lives like that but giving a second chance leaves her a little torn in opinion.]

[Now that the news is, for the most part, shared, Kaname privatizes their conversation for both their sakes. She gives the woman a few moments to settle before laying out the rest. Softly, at least.]

I wanted to tell that much first. [She pauses, looking at the feed to try and get a read on her.]

Messer is here as well. [And letting that sink in...] It's shocking, I know. He'll be reaching out to you on his own, but take the time you need, all right?

[Thankfully there is no collision to deal with. Instead it's just Mirage looking a little too gravely serious and exhausted. If she's visiting she looks like she might be the worst company ever at the moment.

So it's little surprise when she answers the opposite.]

It seems I'm a new arrival. I've been stationed here for the moment.

[Figure straight, quick bow. All military politeness without the salute portion.]

Mirage Jenius. I'm here as your new pilot, I believe.

[At least that's the impression she gets now that she's checked the crew roster. The flight suit looks more fitting knowing that.]

[... Oh. Oh. No wonder Kaname had mentioned it.]

I'm sorry.

[No, wait, that's not right. Mirage always ends up fumbling words at emotional times.]

No, I mean, that's good but ... [It must have been such a shock for Kaname. Mirage may have been a teammate but she was nowhere near as close as he and Kaname has been. There's a part of her still tender from her situation with Hayate and Freyja that makes that sympathy of hers seem heavier.]

... has he been here long?

[The sentiment is understood and appreciated. Walkure's leader nods with a soft smile, meant to reassure Mirage it's all right.]

It's been about ten months now. [Not that she tells anyone, but she does keep track of how long he's around.] We're both well aware it's a sort of second chance. Don't worry about us, we've had time to adjust. Try and focus on yourself for now, all right?

[She hopes Mirage believes that, because it's the truth, as hard as that might be to swallow.]

He's on the Blameless, and I'm on the Bloodsport-- Captain, actually.

[... Lieutenant? Mirage squints a bit at the text, then the ID number. She's already spoken to Kaname and there's no one besides her or Messer who are here and would call her that so it must be him.

It's text so she feels free to linger on the message a moment. A status report is nice and detached and that she can definitely do for him.]

I have been transported aboard the SS Starduck and have been made aware of the circumstances. I have also rendezvoused with Kaname and have been assured of her well-being, sir.

[... Well, he probably didn't need that last bit. He'd been here a good while himself according to Kaname. It's hard to shake the notion of watching over the Walkure unit as being her primary job though.]

I'm fine.

[It's a quick and deliberate bit of self-assurance. Honestly she is fine - she's too used to away missions and the like to be too put out by sudden departures and arrivals. And having a good look around the SS Starduck has definitely helped.

The bit about Captain makes her lips quirk involuntarily.]

Should I address you as Captain Buccaneer from now on?

[Hold the presses, Mirage made a joke.]

If you do, I might have a talk with yours about insubordination.

[This is also a joke, and Kaname's giggle confirms that.]

You're more than welcome here any time. The captain of the Blamless is a very fair man, and he'd treat you well if you decided to visit there, too. [Meaning please visit.] It should be easy enough, especially with the shuttles. I'm able to fly one easily enough, so you'll have no trouble.

Are you gonna defeat some Huns?

[He knows that name! And Xaos, and Macross. Kaname's told him a lot about her world and the people in it.]

Holy crap! Are you one of Kaname's ... no no no. I got it! You're, um, like Messer, with the... [He makes shooting motions with one hand - with sound effects.] Right?
