004 to sleep, perchance to dream

Who: Sansa Stark
Action: Marsiva like everyone else, alas.
When: 7 February

( Being a social sort of person, Sansa's current confinement on the Marsiva has been more than trying on her patience. She's had her memories invaded and hasn't been able to spend time with Tyrion the way she likes to at night. She hasn't been able to have training with Jim or Bucky. She hasn't been able to meet Kogarasumaru for tea or Leia to chat. She hasn't even been able to work on Akeldama's fine coats as much as she wants.

She is, overall, wholly unhappy with the situation.

The Atroma, being a cruel sort, had not provided her with any of her needlework to occupy her time. They did give her a warm shawl she'd gotten in the last system, though, and a pair of fuzzy slippers. She takes both with her to the main room and tries to find a book that catches her fantasy. Unlike Tyrion, she's no reader, and she wishes there were cards or a cyvasse board to better occupy her time. She picks one and pages through it. It turns out to be unwieldy, though, and not the romantic fantasy she'd prefer. And, as such, she ends up falling asleep with the book on her chest, startling when she hears someone come up alongside her. )

I'm awake, I swear it! I only dozed off for a moment.

[Bucky has been spending as little time in the common areas of the ship as possible. He doesn't enjoy the forced attempt at socialization, and solitude is certainly no great burden. It does bother him that the routine he'd started to develop has been interrupted but it can't be helped, and he doesn't complain about it. Complaining might give the Atroma ideas.

He's intending only to pass through the main room when Sansa's sleeping form catches his eye. He changes his direction, moving loudly enough to not sneak up on her. She's probably enough on edge without being startled, though she still starts when he approaches.]

Relax! It's only me.

[He doesn't blame her for catching a catnap during the day cycle though, considering the unrest that the nights seem to bring.]

( When she realizes it's Bucky, Sansa relaxes a bit. She hadn't meant to fall asleep in public like this but at least the Marsiva isn't a place she's likely to come to harm. The Atroma want her around for more calibrations, after all. )

I was trying to read a book. I've never been much of a reader, though, so I didn't get very far before I fell asleep.

Well, the books we've been offered aren't exactly the most riveting things either.

[He's tried them as well; some are better than others. Personally Bucky has wondered if the lack of entertainment has been to force people to interact. It's not a comforting thought.]

Would you wish company instead?

No, this one made a better pillow than it did entertainment.

( At his offer of company, Sansa moves over a bit on the couch she's occupying to allow him to sit beside her. )

Company is much preferable than trying to read...whatever this is. Shakespeare? He seems a terrible bore.

Considering the thickness of that cover, that's saying quite a lot.

[He does sit next to her, close but not too close, and peers at the cover.]

Shakespeare... I remember studying a little of it, before... [He shakes his head; that's not worth talking on.] Before. Plays, mostly. The language is a little old, as I remember but they're better read aloud and with more than one player. Would you want to try?

Hmm, mayhap that will be the better approach. I also think I need to read something other than... ( Sansa checks the title of the page she's currently reading, fingers pressing along the small script. )

Hamlet. This one seems too much like my everyday life. I would rather read something more fun.

( She rifles through the tome for a moment before coming to a play titled A Midsummer Night's Dream. The cast of characters includes a fairy king and queen, so it seems better already. )

This one, I think. There's fairies in it.

Hmmm, stay away from Macbeth too.

[All of the tragedies should probably be avoided, but Shakespeare had written comedies too, hadn't he? Though Bucky supposes at the worst, they could abandon the book and try another.]

Fairies are supposed to cause mischief, aren't they? Let's give it a try, it might be fun.

[If nothing else Bucky might trip over some of the verbiage because Shakespeare's syntax definitely doesn't match how he speaks, but that's fine. It's all in an attempt to ignore this place after all.]

( Sansa gives it a start, only to realize that Theseus is the groom and not the bride and she giggles a bit behind her hand. )

Well, I suppose there's no law in saying I can't read the man's part, is there? There's but two of us anyway, we ought to just go back and forth.

_{[ Kirk raised a brow at Sansa and he chuckled softly. He had come across her sleeping and hadn't meant to wake her, only stretch his legs a little. And, okay, he had taken a moment to stare at the fuzzy slippers because on Sansa they were rather adorable. She had never struck him as one to take to fuzzy slippers - to improper. ]}

It's okay, Sansa. We're just on the Marsiva.

_{[ He glanced at the book in her lap. ]}

What were you trying to read?

Shakespeare. It's dreadfully dull, I'm afraid, but I'm no reader like Tyrion. He can lose himself betwixt the pages of a book and I'm dreaming of something else entirely. I suppose that means I lack patience.

( Upon seeing Jim, Sansa has a warm smile and she immediately relaxes. If she's safe with anyone, it's Jim, and he's counted among her dearest friends here in the Fleet. It seems she's replacing the brothers she's lost. If Bucky is Jon, taciturn and serious, then Jim is Robb with his easy smiles and charm. )

When do you think we'll be allowed to return to our own ships?

_{[ That got a good laugh out of him. ]}

I agree, Shakespeare is dull, and Romeo and Juliet is a terrible love story. People only say it's great because it's centuries old.

_{[ He gave a little shrug and pulled up a chair beside her, a cup of
coffee in hand. ]}

I don't think it means you lack patience, it's just nothing something your mind finds engaging. And that's all right. But to be fair, I think anyone who finds Shakespeare engaging has got a screw loose, just a little bit. So it's a point in your favor.

_{[ He sipped slowly. ]}

I don't know, honestly. Soon, I should think. We've been here awhile, and the Marsiva usually doesn't let us in, much less let us make ourselves comfy.

The only times I've really been on the Marsiva are when I was waiting for a ship assignment. I never strayed from my sleeping quarters then, really, and especially not this second time around since I knew I'd be placed somewhere soon enough.

( Sansa gives him a grin, glad he agrees with her on the point of Shakespeare. She has the feeling Tyrion might feel differently. )

The wishing tree gave me my direwolf back, Jim. She didn't come to the Marsiva with me but I got her in the last system.

She'll be fine, I'm sure. And very happy to see you when you get back.

_{[ He patted her hand reassuringly, mostly sure of himself in that he
was right. Atroma could be cruel, but not quite that cruel. ]}

I would love the chance to meet her though, when we do get back.

Oh yes, she'll be happy to see you too. I think Tyrion is still wary she might eat him even though I've told him several times Lady has no interest in nibbling on my lord husband.

( Sansa gives Jim an appraising look, trying to decide if he's the best person to ask this question of. She trusts him, no doubt, so perhaps he will be. )

Jim, if I were to...want to make Tyrion aware that I was interested in somewhat more than holding hands and kissing, how should I go about that? I've never had a proper relationship.

_{[ Oh. Well. That... was not a question he had ever thought to have
Sansa ask him. He didn't brush it off or treat it lightly. Knowing Sansa,
this was not a particularly easy question, and he wanted to treat it with
the seriousness it deserved. He was quiet a moment, thinking on it. ]}

Well, there are a lot of ways to go about it, but we need to find one you are comfortable with. That's the most important part, especially when it comes to things like this.

_{[ He gave her a very serious look. ]}

Seriously, Sansa. You do not have to do anything you do not want. You are allowed to say no, and you should if you aren't comfortable.

_{[ That out of the way... ]}

In all honesty, directness might the right approach. Tyrion is... well, I'm sure you know, but definitely undervalues himself. I don't know that he would believe you if you went about it in some coy or roundabout manner. I think you should sit with him and have a frank discussion about where you would like the relationship to go, between the two of you. No need to be graphic, of course, but having an honest, open discussion with him.

He does seem to sell himself short. I only ask because I've been in his calibration and I saw that he wants children with me. I want children too, when we're not here in the Fleet, and to have children I'm eventually going to have to lay with him.

( It's not Tyrion she's afraid of, though, only the act, and her fear of the act has diminished quite a bit since she's started casting Tyrion in that role instead of having nightmares about Ramsay. )

And I want to, very much. I want to be a normal woman who likes that sort of thing.

_{[ He frowned softly, reaching to take her hand and squeezing gently.
]}

Sansa. Listen to me. There is nothing wrong with you, okay? You do not have to want sex to be normal. It’s perfectly fine not to. And it’s perfectly fine to want to as well.

And you don’t have to start with full intercourse either. You two could work up to that, start with more intimate touching and other forms of pleasure. No need to dive in head first, so to speak.

[How anyone can sleep during the day when their nights are full of forced "relaxation", he has no idea. But then again, it's not like all nights are necessarily restful. The Vision smiles and holds up a hand.]

It's quite all right. You must be reading something quite riveting?

[He has a few books himself, with titles like Firebird and Deathless and The Lay of Igor's Campaign, and he seems to be looking for another one.]

I just want to know how to broach it with him and I know you're friends. I know it must be strange for me to ask this of you when I am his wife but...the last thing I want to do is make him think I'm trying to trick him.

( It's a very delicate thing, talking to Tyrion about intimacies, and she wants to be sure she goes about it the right way. )

_{[ He made a soft sound, shifting in his seat. ]}

No, I’m actually touched you trust me enough to come to me about it.

But I still think it’s best if you broach the subject with Tyrion first. If I do and say you came to me about it first, I think that will make it harder for him to believe it’s you who truly wants this. After, if he’s still unsure, I think I could speak with him.

( Sansa remembers Vision from when she first arrived back in the Fleet and it's nice to get to meet him in person. If nothing else, being confined to the Marsiva means mingling with people from other ships easier than usual. )

No, I'm afraid I find it tedious and boring. I'm not much of a reader, I'll admit. I usually sew or talk with friends.

No, of course. He should hear about it from his wife first since it's his wife who wants to lay with him, not his friend.

( This, at least, sparks a smile and a bit of a giggle escapes her. She wonders if she's ever going to feel something other than giddy and stupid and girlish where these things are concerned. At least it's better than being afraid, which she's been before. )

And sewing materials are, I imagine, in short supply at the moment.

[Friends--or potential friends, anyway--there are aplenty, however, so he takes a seat near her and sets down his selecitons.]

Though I don't suppose you're familiar with the video and music options? Much of the selection here is Earth-based, so I'd be happy to recommend something for you.

It’s Tyrion who’s the real worry. ]}

Just be honest, Sanasa, and I’m sure it will work out. And if not, call me and I’ll knock some sense into him.

No, I'm not familiar with anything here. It all seems to be from a world I'm not from but I suppose that means it will all be new to me, yes?

( Sansa has nothing but smiles for Vision, though, because she'd enjoyed talking with him the last time they spoke. He seems a quiet, intelligent man for all that he looks a bit strange and Sansa is quickly learning that those who are fair of face tend to be foul inside. Perhaps she should befriend more unusual people instead. )

What would you recommend?
