[the elf is half-dressed at his comms station as usual, wrapped in a sheet that he has dragged from his bunk, like a slob. he's settled in there, with a snack and an idea. and this idea sprouted its way into his head while paging through the frequencies, listening in on conversations--both public and encrypted--like any good, nosy comms officer.

it makes him wonder if there's anyone else out there doing the same thing. so, he starts out with a normal, bland, video broadcast. just some smiley elven guy derping around on the network.]

So... you ever wonder why they pick certain people to bring here? Like, what it is about them that makes them think "hey, this guy would be perfect for our show?"

There are so many people now, and... I don't know... everybody's really different, I think. It just makes me wonder.

[and then, with a few taps of the keyboard, he quietly sets up an encryption, so that only curious folks with a comms augment can break in and see the rest of the broadcast--]

[and he can't help but laugh and let his eyes go dramatically wide, shaking his head.]

Because, wow... some of these people are weird.

[he's not really expecting much of a response, honestly. he is perhaps underestimating how many comms folks there might be poking around in the encrypted corners of the network.]

Especially since we get paid for doing nothing anyways. You think they'd want to do something fun in their spare time instead.

[Her nose wrinkles a little in complete and absolute agreement

Right?! Off their rocker, they were. She gives an exaggerated shrug.]

[he... has to laugh a little bit, finally.]

You really think that's the weirdest thing, though?

[She arches an eyebrow at him, and then switches the video feed to the expansive amounts of Space outside.

Switching the view back to herself, after a few moment to contemplate, she gives him Look.

What does he count as normal, hm? Human nature is human nature, no matter where they were. And human nature was selfish.]

[he shrugs a little--partly in answer to her unspoken question, and partly because he's pretty unsure what exactly that question even is.

so, he mostly just keeps talking to fill the gaps.]

I mean, like. The weird kinds of people that are here. Have you seen some of them??

[A pause, a thought. Nod nod nod.]

Big guy.

[Remember that one who was stuck in the room? That had been hilarious.]

Big, sure... but there's people made out of plants here. And wood.

And even the ones who look normal have some pretty crazy secrets that you'd never guess by looking at them.

[That comment earns her widest grin. They certainly do, don't they?

A lift of her eyebrow. Doesn't he have a big secret, too?]

Well, I mean... I guess everybody probably has some big secret.

[slipping around whatever unasked question might have been there.]

But even, like... the doctors and stuff here aren't what you'd guess.

[The best doctors were the ones that had a secret. They know how to keep their mouth shut]

Quiet ones.

No way, everyone always suspects the quiet ones. They're too mysterious.

[whether or not that's what she meant.]

[Jinx blew a raspberry at the screen.
