Action the Red Fish

[Finding herself on a strange ship would probably worry Mikumo, but... she's not really that kind of girl. Her life is just not normal. Besides, she has a feeling that she knows where she is. Sort of.

It's not either of the ships she was on the first time she was here, nor is it the big ship she spent a few days on before being moved. It's new, but the confetti and the faux-pudding cups are a clue. The idol just shakes her hair free of the brightly colored paper and starts to look around the ship.]

Hm, it looks as if someone let Messer decorate the walls. How interesting.

[As she walks down the halls, she trails a hand down the walls. Nothing comes away, but that doesn't mean she isn't a bit surprised.

She stops at a mess of paper that looks as if it is telling some secret to the many little dials around the ship and points when she sees one that leads to the residences.]

My, my. This would make visiting others so much easier.

Video

[Mikumo eventually ends up in her private room on the ship, the Red Fish and she pulls out her communicator. She waggles her fingers playfully before blowing a kiss at the screen.]

Well, hello, people of the Fleet. It's so lovely to be back here. Tell me, have I missed any venues? I see about this memory sharing thing that's happened again, but I suppose it's a good thing I missed that. I don't have many to share with you.

I wonder. [He frowns lightly, though it's not at her.] At one point, the ships were overcrowded to a point where a new one appeared to keep up with it all, and many of us purchased upgrades to the crew capacity. Why is there the opposite problem now?

[He has his theories, but they all lack evidence. It's very frustrating.]

I do wish they'd interact with us somewhat more frequently so we could better identify their motives, but then, I suppose that is one reason they might not.

That may indeed be the only reason. But it's rather elaborate for boredom, and I'm accustomed to people having more than one motivation behind their actions. Still, you may have the heart of it there.

Oh, that's entirely likely. Then again, if they bothered to communicate with us, some of us would surely develop more sympathy for them and their cause: there are just as many of us who would try to understand and see the other person's point of view, I think. Without any explanation, we can see so little of their motives it becomes difficult.

Greed, now, I would easily believe. I wonder if there's some sort of power they gain from having us here, or simply money. [Which is its own form of power.]

Oh, that was always the case with Diamond and Beau, but they seemed unconcerned with us. I hear it was their own people who blew them up in the end, though, so perhaps they were right to ignore us.

I wish I could say you're wrong, but it's as true in my world as in yours, I'd say.

I certainly agree there. [But he's been wary of criticizing them on public channels, so he'll say no more at this time.]

Regardless, it's good to hear your voice again.

Oh, yes. But few things as petty in scope.

[Pride. Ego. Ambition, which often comes as a result of the other two, and a fear of losing power already accumulated. All come at the expense of respect for life, and all are things he fights against with his entire being.]

We've been fortunate there, yes. I hope we continue to be so.

[He smiles, as he usually does when someone mentions the garden.]

I will, of course, continue my duties on the Twin Roses, including taking care of the garden. I do always like to add new plants for each system we visit, so there is that investigation to continue. Aside from that?

[He shrugs, still smiling.] Make a life for myself.

[he nods, eyes lit up in the easy expression of someone who's been asked about his favorite hobby.]

I've not received any sponsor gifts, thankfully, but I do have a new pine shrub from Libuscha IV - it produces a fragrant oil in its seeds that has interesting analgesic properties. It felt appropriate to the winter holiday season.

[One of the first things he realized about himself was that he liked being surrounded by living things. When they're on a planet, it's easy enough to do, but when they're drifting? The garden is where he likes to be.]

Oh? I can only imagine what they might come up with. Flimsy plastic gardening tools? A set of pottery that's nearly useless? For being sponsored items, I cannot tell why anyone would want to purchase most of them, to be honest.

Oh, I'm aware of the fanmail problem. It's kind of them to contain it to a single kiosk I can ignore.

[He hasn't even been curious in the slightest, not since he started dating Wanda here. There's just no way the mail could be anything he would ever want to read. Besides, as an Avenger back home, he knows quite a bit about having a fanbase.]

Ah, well, there's little from home I would desire, I don't wear clothing, and I do not need weapons. Perhaps that's why I receive very little from them.
