[Finding herself on a strange ship would probably worry Mikumo, but... she's not really that kind of girl. Her life is just not normal. Besides, she has a feeling that she knows where she is. Sort of.

It's not either of the ships she was on the first time she was here, nor is it the big ship she spent a few days on before being moved. It's new, but the confetti and the faux-pudding cups are a clue. The idol just shakes her hair free of the brightly colored paper and starts to look around the ship.]

Hm, it looks as if someone let Messer decorate the walls. How interesting.

[As she walks down the halls, she trails a hand down the walls. Nothing comes away, but that doesn't mean she isn't a bit surprised.

She stops at a mess of paper that looks as if it is telling some secret to the many little dials around the ship and points when she sees one that leads to the residences.]

My, my. This would make visiting others so much easier.

[Mikumo eventually ends up in her private room on the ship, the Red Fish and she pulls out her communicator. She waggles her fingers playfully before blowing a kiss at the screen.]

Well, hello, people of the Fleet. It's so lovely to be back here. Tell me, have I missed any venues? I see about this memory sharing thing that's happened again, but I suppose it's a good thing I missed that. I don't have many to share with you.

[She gives him her most dazzling smile. While she'd previously had a thought that Pavel would be fun to tease (he is), she also thinks he's rather adorable.

Especially with the way he says her name.]

I would think that most women are a mystery to a man like you, Pavel. Isn't that the case?

Hm. [Well, now that she thinks about it, what she said could sound insulting, but she likes the way he is.]

Do you remember our first meeting? When I spoke to you about being at the Communications array on the Twin Roses, you thought that I might be serious that you were going to do some damage to it or steal some sort of secret. Didn't you?

Yes, I remember that.

[He remembers being confused by her then as well. It's nice to know that there are some constants in the universe.]

It did seem very possible that you were being serious.

I wasn't, but it's something like that that brings meaning to what I said before. You're a very honest and open person.

[She softens her words with a slow wink.]

It's just who you are and you don't need to change that at all.

[His confusion turns into a smile.] I'm not so open.

[But that was an oddly sweet sentiment. He isn't sure what to do about that.]

Since I have your approval, I will do what I can to stay as I am.

Comparatively speaking, you are.

[She's not that open and she knows it. It's all a part of her appeal.]

Is there some reason you wouldn't have my approval? Not many people would let me drag them around shopping, you know. Kaname would just come and Messer would scowl and scare all the shop keepers.

Yes, okay, comparatively.

[Comparative to her, anyway. What does Pavel actually know about Mikumo? Not much.]

If your approval is based on a willingness to go shopping without scaring anyone, then I can think of no reason at all.

[What does anyone know about Mikumo—including Mikumo herself? Not much. He is at least in good company with the rest of them.]

Well, no there is a bit more that goes along with that, but that is a very good start. And I think we should repeat that experience so that I can ascertain whether my memory is as good as the reality.

I'm hesitant to try it again. [He isn't. He's clearly pleased that Mikumo liked dragging him around enough to want to give it another go.] If you remember the first time so fondly, then you will probably be disappointed.

Oh no, that won't do, Pavel. [She winks at him over the device to let him know that her tone isn't serious, even if her words are.] The whole point of pleasurable experiences is to repeat them. Even I know that.

[candothat]

[Has anyone ever told Mikumo that her word choice is very strange? Pavel would like to, but then he might be encouraged to explain what he finds strange about "pleasurable experiences" and why.]

Then there is no choice left to us but to go shopping again. You've convinced me.

Mikumo... did you return home between the last time that you were here and now? I meant to ask that first. [She distracted him somehow, it's amazing.]

[No, no they haven't. They don't dare. Or care. One of those things.

Besides, she's won.]

Wonderful. I promise to make sure that you have more fun this time.

[She frowns at his question, missing the unintended compliment.]

No, I don't believe so. I don't remember anything between when I left and when I arrived. How odd.

[Someday they will talk about phrasing. Someday.]

You shouldn't make such difficult promises.

[Implying that he had a great deal of fun last time. You know, between all of the moments where he was mortified or clueless.]

That is is odd. In my experience, people typically gain more memories between leaving and returning... if they remember their initial visit at all.

[Phrasing is so much fun, though. Besides, if it's someone she doesn't know or like, she's very straightforward and no nonsense. To the point of being nearly like Messer.

However, she smiles at his wording. Really, he's still just as sweet as she remembered.]

You can always have more fun, Pavel. That I promise.

[She shrugs slightly.]

I don't mind it. I would hate to not remember being her at all. Losing anything is horrible.

In that case, I will look forward to another shopping excursion.

[Didn't take a lot of convincing, did it?]

It is. Memories especially, when memories are the only things that we have here.

Wonderful. I'll let you know when I'm ready.

[She knew he'd cave. Especially when she's not afraid to sweeten the pot to get what she wants.]

Yes. Sometimes, memories are all we have, regardless of where we are.

A sobering thought when memories are so easy to lose between universes. I'm glad that you were able to keep yours.

[This is getting sad. He tries for some (somewhat forced) levity.]

I have no idea how I made a good impression on you the first time, after all; maybe I wouldn't be able to replicate that feat.

Hm, perhaps.

[She'll let it drop, It's a touchy subject and she has so few memories of her own, compared to others. Even Freyja.]f

Well, you do have excellent references. That helps a great deal.

[If Pavel realized just how limited Mikumo's memories were, he would have approached the whole topic much more carefully. Oops.]

I do like to imagine that you would have tolerated me even without character references.

[And that's why he doesn't get told right away. It's not something one mentions in casual conversation. No matter how cute one's companion.]

Well, yes, because you have your own innumerable charms to recommend you. One of them being that you like to listen to me sing. As I love to do so, we make a rather attractive pair, Pavel.

[Between the compliment (she thinks he has charms, ha!) and the flirtiness (is it flirtiness? he's not confident that it is, but it certainly feels flirty), Pavel's ears are starting to turn rather red.]

Everyone must like listening to you sing. Your voice [woice, even] is objectively beautiful.

[He does have charms. He is adorable, he has a cute accent, he is rather smart, and he has good taste in friends.

But don't think she doesn't see that cute little blush.]

Well, I've never had any complaints, that's true. However, there are some that prefer to listen to others. Personal preference, and all that.
