[People who would consider themselves friends of Victor and James (mostly James since Victor sucks at being social) will get a ping on their device. On opening it, they will see they've gotten a wedding invitation!]

[Of course, Victor hasn't picked out WHICH lodge to host the ceremony in, so he'll be scoping those places out should anyone want to come and congratulate him, give him advice, etc]

[Spock had known James was marrying a 'Victor'. When the invitations seem to be sending out he manages to catch the last name of him and that is enough to locate the man in the databases they have access too. So, as Spock is walking around this new planet and happens to see Victor inspecting lodges, he recognizes him and makes his way over.]

Victor Frankenstein, I presume?

[He's not sure if James informed him of his presence nor if he would know what he looks like, even so. The uniform, surely, gives a pretty good hint, though.]

I am here to extend my congratulations. I am a friend of Jim Kirk. [Both of them, but it is still strange to have to specify that.]

My name is Spock.

[Victor lights up on seeing the Vulcan. He’s only seen pictures of Spock until now. He’s glad the other is here for both Kirks, and just in time for the wedding. Victor even spreads his fingers apart in a proper Vulcan greeting]

A pleasure meeting you. James told me a lot about you. I’m sure he’s thrilled to have you here.

[There is no better way to have someone instantly ingratiate themselves to a Vulcan than to offer a ta'al in a foreign land. Spock gratefully extends it back, not smiling but suddenly having gone softer around all his edges.]

I was greeted most enthusiastically. [He omits the fact that their conversation in James' mind had ended poorly. He doesn't even know if he remembers.]

I am pleased to be here for the both of them. As well as for those dear to them, as you are.

Did you require any assistance for the nuptials?

No, I don't-- [He stops before he finishes the sentence. A thought has struck him]

Actually, maybe there is something. Would you consider being a member of the wedding party? I know it would mean a lot to James if you were there standing with him.

[James might even ask Spock himself, if he hasn't already]

[Spock blinks, not entirely sure how to respond.] I would be honored. Given that there is a position for me, there.

[Spock pauses and looks down at the ground for a second, not wanting to lie by omission.]

We did not part on positive terms during Calibrations. If James is amenable to my presence, I will gladly stand at his side. However, if he harbors resentment, I would prefer to not interfere in this special day.

Friends fight, Spock. I'd hate for you to miss the wedding because of it. If you're really concerned, you should talk to him. The two of you have been through a lot together.

[Spock nods his head, liking Victor more for the sound advice.]

Indeed we have. Enough that I feel confident in voicing my sincere approval of his future husband. I appreciate your advice, Dr. Frankenstein, and intend to take it. I would not miss such an important event.

Well... that's good to know. You don't have to be so formal, though. You can call me Victor.

Victor.

[He is absolutely going to call him 'Doctor' instead. It's just a hard habit to break.]

Was there anything else I could assist with? I know from observing marriages on board the Enterprise that they are often fraught with decisions and stressors. I would mitigate these for you, if possible.

That's good of you to offer. [He thinks over all the details and arrangements they need to make]

Do you think James would want to wear formal Starfleet attire for his wedding?

I believe it may be important to him to have something representative of his service to Starfleet. However, as he has been separated for so long, I may not be the ideal one to answer.

[Spock inclines his head, curious since he had arrived with just what he was wearing.]

Does he have his formal attire?

I'm sure one of them does. Of course, if he wants to wear a regular suit, that's fine, too. But we do need to have Starfleet in the ceremony somehow. Something from his world and something from mine.

[Spock's head inclines, curious still.]

I am not aware of your world. How it differs from ours. I would be interested in learning of it, Doctor.

You ever see a black-and-white horror movie? My world's like that. Though for the wedding, I'll be okay taking this planet as a substitute. It has the monsters, at least.

Fascinating.

[His head is just going to stay at this angle for the next hour. He can feel it already.]

So it is entirely in black and white? Were you aware of the lack of color, prior to arriving somewhere chromatic?

Not really. But then, if you grow up in a desert, can you really understand the concept of the ocean?

I know what colors are now, of course, even if I can't see them.

You have achromatopsia? [Spock doesn't sound like he pities Victor for it because he doesn't. He's simply learning more about him.]

I am curious whether this is a normal state for those in your universe or a characteristic of you specifically. Perhaps your universe is not black and white and you are one of the few that perceive it thus.

No, my world is definitely black-and-white. Someone from another world visited and I could tell immediately just from looking at him.

Fascinating.

[Spock leans forward, peering into Victor's eyes.]

Would you be opposed to my taking a diagnostic of your iris?

Sure, go ahead.

[Like he would really turn down a fellow scientist. He's pretty curious himself what the readings will show]

[Spock keeps peering, pleased at the easy consent.]

There is a rudimentary lab on my vessel. I believe there may be a more advanced one on other ships. Perhaps in one we can study the performance of your occipital lobe when exposed to different shades and colors. We may well discover significant differences.

That's a good idea. I'd be curious to see what those scans show.

[He wonders if there'd be any physical evidence of all the memory-altering magic he'd gone through]

You want to go ahead and do that now?

[Spock leans back and his eyebrows raise. That's about the only hint Victor will have that he is both pleased and impressed by him.]

Do you know where the most advanced lab may be located?

I don't know if it's the most advanced, but the medical lab on my ship's pretty good.

I am certain that will be a sufficient start.

[He gestures for Victor to lead the way.]

We can begin with the structure of your iris and retina. From there, the next step will be a study of your brain.

[He glances at the cabins, warring between his desire for science and to secure a place for his wedding. But the scans shouldn't take too long, and he can go over other details as they work. So Victor leads back to his ship]

And while you're doing that, let's focus on the part connected with memory. I've had my memory altered a few times and I'd like to know what, if any, physical traces would be evident.

[Spock follows along about as eagerly as an emotionless alien could be. He's already formulating experiments as they walk so Victor's folds in nicely with his plans.]

I believe that would be a highly worthwhile venture. There are many questions as to why certain people return with no knowledge and some retain all. Perhaps this will assist the conversation.

I highly doubt it, but it's worth checking out just in case.

[They eventually make it to the lab. Victor goes in first, expecting Spock knows his way around the various machines]

[He does. Spock quickly crosses over to the diagnostic area and selects everything he would need to survey Victor's eye.]

We shall begin with your optics. Would you prefer a seat?

[He does prefer a seat, so he takes one. He's never thought to run any of these tests before. Mostly because he was more focused on the world around him than the strangeness of himself.

And the technology here is more advanced. Maybe it'll pick up on something that twentieth-century tech wouldn't. He still has relatively good vision; he just never developed the ability to see colors, because he never needed to]

[ooc: I'm no brain expert, so I have no idea what having two sets of memories would even look like]

_{[ He finds Victor on one of his scoping expeditions, dressed comfortably for the environment, a happy flush to his cheeks - whether from the announcement or the fact he was on a planet and exploring again was anyone's guess. ]}

If it's nice enough weather, why not host it outside? I've always liked the thought of outdoor weddings.

[He smiles when he sees the other Kirk]

I like that idea, too. Though I think I should still find an indoor location just in case.

Of course, always have the backup, but hope for the best. Any other plans for it? How big do you think you guys will go with it?

I would like it to represent both of our worlds. Being out here makes me feel right at home. If we're indoors, we could hang up lights to make it look like stars.

Maybe you can help me with flowers? I'm color-blind, and even with my glasses it's not easy to distinguish colors from each other.

If you like, I've made little star displays I like to use for myself - um, starscapes that get projected onto the ceiling.

_{[ He waved his hand up over his head for emphasis. ]}

I've recreated starmaps from Earth as best I can - with filled in bits here and there. I'm happy to lend them to you both. And also help with picking flowers. Though if you want something spectacular and someone with expertise - maybe talk to Akeldama or Biffy? Both of them have good taste when it comes to decoration.

I'd love to take a look at that anyway.

[A thoughtful headtilt] That's probably true, but I don't know if I'm going for "spectacular". I'd rather it be simple and something that we both like, you know?

_{[ He smiled fondly at him. ]}

I found you both rather courageous, you know. Getting married, even given the situation.

Yeah. Marriage is a brave thing for anyone to face. I've seen married couples back in Storybrooke. It's more than just love-- it's a partnership, and a trust, and a promise that those things will always bind us.

Yeah. Jim's told me that you believe in True Love, and that it will always keep you and him together. Can't say there's no evidence for it, since you both ended up here.

I know it sounds strange for a man of science to believe in something like that, but I've seen that it's a real thing.

_{[ He shook his head. ]}

I can't tell you how many times I've put my faith in less than concrete things - my crew, the belief that it will just turn out all right because we're doing the right thing, that the universe will throw us that one life line and we just have to have our fingers out ready to grab it.

And like I said, I can't exactly argue with its results so far.

No such thing as a no-win scenario, right? [He grins] Even in love.

_{[ He rolled his eyes and nudged the other man gently. ]}

Come on, save all the sap for the wedding day.

I can't promise that, but I'll try to tone it down a little.

But speaking of, I'm expecting you to be in the wedding party. Maybe as best man for one of us.
