( open ) you are cordially invited...

Who: EVERYONE!
Broadcast: Nope
Action: Jim Kirk and Victor Frankenstein's wedding, and everyone is invited!
When: March 30th

The Bachelor Party (( CLOSED to invited CR ))

The evening before the wedding, Jim and Victor gather up their closest friends, admittedly not many when they haven't been on the Fleet for that long. Bachelor parties would usually happen in separate, but that's difficult to do when they share so many friends, and so they decide to throw the party together.

The setting is simple but cozy; they've picked out a small pub in town, and reserved a rustic little room in the basement. There's a large table with a few games, most notably a chessboard, and a sitting area with couches and chairs gathered around a coffee table, in front of a lit up fireplace. On a small bar by the corner there are a few drinks on offer, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, and on a table next to it there is a selection of snacks and various kinds of finger foods to make for a light but hopefully filling dinner.

Courtesy of Kirk 1.0, there's also a music system and a microphone set up next to the sitting area, and you know what that means... karaoke! It's guaranteed to be more fun the drunker you get. Speaking of drunker, someone will definitely be tossing around the idea for strip chess, so hopefully you won't get too embarrassed if people start losing pieces of clothing. But hey, at least everyone's a winner.

The party will go well into the night, and Jim and Victor likely won't leave until everyone else does. So feel free to stick around, play games, sing songs and get drunk... if you get really drunk, you can always make yourself comfortable on one of the couches and fall asleep there. (The patrons can just kick you out eventually, it's okay.)

You Are Cordially Invited... (( OPEN to everyone! ))

The preparations were rushed and the invitations sent out in a bit of a hurry, but it's not like there's ever a lot of time to prepare for a wedding, when one doesn't want to do it aboard one of the ships. But everything seems to be well put together, and there's a very rustic and homely feel from the moment you arrive.

The ceremony proper happens at the lodge, a spot that has been set up with a few seats and a set of stairs leading up to a small canopy, all of it decorated with white fabric and an abundance of flowers. It's short and sweet, and after vows are exchanged and a few words from the one performing the ceremony (hopefully no one will find it too weird that it's the other Jim), they slip on their rings and share a kiss, delighted to let the celebrations continue onto the reception.

With Jim and Victor taking the lead, the guests are walked across a bridge, lit with candle lanterns, strings of white flowers embellishing the wooden frame. The good portion of the reception is outside, and everything is decorated with lanterns, string lights hanging everywhere and resembling stars more and more as the sun starts to set, and (yes, you guessed it) more flowers.

As a matter of fact, there are flowers a little all over the place. In jars hanging from trees, tied to the backs of chairs, bundled up in crates that are spread out all over the area. The food is set up on large tables, divided by starters, main dishes and desserts, the wedding cake having its own smaller but more prominent stand near the dessert table. There are no assigned seats, however. After all, everyone was invited and it's not like there are that many people on the Fleet, so just grab a plate, help yourself, and take a seat wherever! You might even find a few of the locals joining in on the party a little later, but both grooms seem more than happy to welcome them too.

The party goes on a little into the night. Everyone is free to hang around for as long as they want, or leave early if you're scared of the dark... but don't worry, there are lights all over the place! There are also plenty of cozy little nooks and corners where guests can make themselves comfortable, and if you start to get a little chilly, feel free to borrow one of the many blankets on offer, or simply head into the indoors portion of the reception. It's small but there are a few seats and even a fireplace to keep the place warm.

If you like sitting by a fire but would much rather stay outside, a small campfire will be lit up just before the sun starts to set, and a small table with plates of something that looks close to marshmallows, chocolate and biscuits set up nearby. Have a seat around the fire and build your own s'more, and toss in a campfire song or two if you're feeling inspired.

And of course, can't have a wedding without a dance floor! Or two, as it so happens: one indoors, and another one outside, the latter far more enchanting, with endless string lights hanging high above a flat wooden platform. There's a fairly modern music system so you might recognize a lot of late 20th and early 21st music playing, but for those more musically inclined there are also plenty of local instruments you can pick up and try your luck at playing a song, or even sing.

The party is very loose and carefree. Do what you want, come and go as you please, steal either of the grooms away for a dance, or find a pair among the other guests... whatever you want to do, and however long you want to stay, feel free to do as you please!

Bachelor Party

Victor knew that the bachelor party would always be more for James than for himself. He didn't mind parties; he just wasn't nearly as sociable as James. But he'll still chat with anybody who shows up, and is happy to accept the challenge of anybody who wants to play chess with him.

Usually he didn't sing in public, but he has a plan to get up and do one song for James. Mostly he just listens while everyone else enjoys the machine. At some point during the night he's going to encourage James and Jim do a duet together.

Ceremony

This is the part of the day when he misses Lucy the most. He can picture her all dressed up, eager to carry the wedding rings down the aisle. He hasn't shown anyone else the ring he got for James, wanting it to be a surprise for when the exchanged them during the vows.

Victor had debated between wearing something similar to dress from his home and something more modern. Eventually he went with the latter, his nod from home being the cravat he wears instead of a tie and the picture of Gerhardt he has in his pocket. He knows it's a silly tradition to not see each other before the wedding, but he holds to it-- not even wanting to see Jim until they're ready to start.

Party

He tries not to hog James too much once the ceremony's over and everyone's celebrating. He may even be coaxed into playing something on the violin or singing again if someone were to ask him.

He lets John the dog go loose during the party, too, so the dog is likely to sniff around at everybody and demand attention.

Remy LeBeau

Bachelor Party

[Remy loves his friends here, adores them.

But they’re all nerds.

This was a bachelor party? Really? Though now he thinks about it, he shouldn’t be surprised considering who is there and who it is for. And maybe for the better, since Remy can’t remember a good portion of his own one.

For the most he will be helping himself to drinks and a few snacks, having some laughs with those there, maybe even getting in on a game of chess or two (but knowing he will lose), and encouraging people to get up and sing, especially if they are drunk. For the most he stays on that edge of sober and tipsy, not really by choice, but due to his powers. But that made it all the more fun to see those who did have too much to drink.]

Party

[He’s a little sad he didn’t have time to grab new clothing for the wedding, with calibrations and all happening and the lack of suitable fashion on the current planet, so Remy has reused the same look he had used at Biffy’s wedding, the same suit, pin tie, cufflinks, and hair style. Plus, he knows a certain Captain who likes him dressed up this way. Though he hopes Biffy doesn’t notice... but is sure he will.

Remy will also have to congratulate whoever did so much work to make this place look amazing, both the after party and the ceremony. It really was stunning, and a little surprising, but it really was a beautiful setting for the two men. It did appeal to that hidden romantic inside Remy. During the meal he is seated around friends, but can be encouraged to join others too, or welcomes someone grabbing a seat next to him. Same is also true with dancing later, more than happy to get out on the dance floor if someone is offering.]

( bachelor party )

[ curious, curious. interesting way to celebrate the end of one's freedom, so to speak. is it meant to be ironic? mortals were just so odd with their customs and every time loki seems to think he grasps it, they usually throw in another curveball. either way, jim is a friend, one acknowledged by loki so he sweeps in with a fantastic outfit with a smile. he takes his place near one of the chessboards, eager to play this game now that he knows how it works, sipping drinks by the counter and eyeing the microphone with a hint of dryness. good luck making him sing anything though. ]

Ah, carousing. It is a relief to know some old traditions still exist.

( wedding )

[ on the wedding day, loki does opt for a simpler outfit as he at least knows better than to outshine a couple on their wedding day. everything is hosted outside which feels familiar to loki at least, as they never truly held such ceremonies indoors. he wanders around the surroundings, even paying some respects along the way. towards the end of the party, loki is seated near the dance floor, making idle commentary on people's dance moves and coughing discreetly when they look his way. ]

Excuse me.

[Steve has to borrow a suit from someone else since he doesn't have one yet. Because of that it doesn't fit perfectly but it's fine enough for the night. Bucky took him as his plus one and Steve's been having a perfectly fine evening just basking in the happiness of this couple and his friends. It's halfway through the ceremony when he finally takes a closer look around and sees Loki near the dance floor.

He smirks and walks over, jacket gone by this point, hands sunk into his pockets.]

Ya know, the rule is you can't make fun of people dancing at a wedding. Not unless you're able to show 'em up.
dothelokimotion: (Comfort was the answer to all)

[personal profile] dothelokimotion 2019-04-02 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ loki cocks an eyebrow. ]

Are you challenging me, Steve?
brooklyn_boy: (smirk)

[personal profile] brooklyn_boy 2019-04-02 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh no. I'm a bad dancer.

[He pulls over a chair and plops next to him.]

But if you're makin' fun, I'm assuming you're pretty good...
dothelokimotion: (Immortality is stupid)

[personal profile] dothelokimotion 2019-04-02 11:54 pm (UTC)(link)
You, bad at something? Don't tell your friends, they'll never believe you.

But yes. It was important to master these skills at a young age.

[Loki gets an eyeroll.]

They're well aware.

And let me guess: as prince you had to dance around all the balls?
dothelokimotion: (Minutes before librarians ate him)

[ sounds fake but ok. loki hums, soft. ]

Of course. Some things were expected of us as royalty. And I was still that, despite my origins.

Despite your origins...

[Steve slaps his shoulder hard.]

Hate to break it to you, but you're as royal as they come.

Why don't you go dance with someone?

Spock enjoyed the ceremony and further enjoyed the happiness his friend has with his new husband. When things get quieter and Victor appears to be free, he walks over and extends a Ta'al.

"May you both live long and prosper," he offers with the smallest ghost of a smile.

"It is a comforting thing to see such positivity here today. You have given many a reason to hope and an occasion to be at peace."

[Spock has protested but somehow still has a glass of hot chocolate in his hand. Dark hot chocolate. So it's safe to say, by the time he sees and walks over to Remy, he's buzzed at the very least.

The smile he offers is a little more obvious than it otherwise would have been. But he's still upright and barely slurring. He's alright.

For now.]

Are you not engaging in the activities?

"Thank you, Spock," Victor responded. "I didn't realize you were a romantic." Or what he interpreted as a Vulcan's version of a romantic. He could be wrong, but he meant it teasingly anyway.

"Love is an emotion and therefore inadvisable in the teachings of Surak. Indeed, it is often more dangerous and volatile than fury. However, it also leads to unprecedented fulfillment." He knows from experience and smiles slightly in acknowledgement of it.

He's potentially flirting with the possibility of it again, here.

"I can see such fulfillment here, between you both. As my closest friend, I can wish no more for Jim."

"Shakespeare did compare it with madness," Victor agreed, "but since I was called mad before ever meeting James, I doubt love will push me much farther."

He smiles, throwing a glance over to where James was talking with a few people. "I wish his other friends could be here, but I'm glad you could come."
dothelokimotion: (Illegal to consider their existence)

[Good point.]

There's really no one here you'd like enough to just dance with? I'm sure James would be open to it...
dothelokimotion: (Time itself doesn’t work)

[personal profile] dothelokimotion 2019-04-04 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That is true.

Though I'd hate to steal him away from his groom.

[ loki is a little wistful. ]

They have forever together. I'm sure one dance wouldn't kill either of them.
dothelokimotion: (No one listens when I talk)

[personal profile] dothelokimotion 2019-04-05 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
[ forever, huh. can people from different realities truly have that? ]

Perhaps not. I'll wait for the right time.

Of course not. But timing is everything.

Talkin' to the man who waited way too long more than once, pal. Don't miss your shot being cautious.
dothelokimotion: (Regret nothing until it's too late)

[personal profile] dothelokimotion 2019-04-05 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
